Kumano Kodo Ohechi, Nagai-zaka Walk

Kumano TREK, English Speaking Guides

 Description

Do you know the Ohechi?
It’s one of the five main routes of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage network. It was a popular coastal section that connected what is now Tanabe City and Nachi several centuries ago and was beloved by painters and poets who were inspired by panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and tree-lined trail. Nagai-zaka course is one of the best-kept sections of the Ohechi route and is known both for its passage through ancient rural villages and stunning seascape views. Nagai-zaka is a great add-on before or after walking the Kumano Kodo Nakahechi trail as a one-day hike, easily accessible by train.
