Mi-Kumano is a local group founded in 2006 with the goal to introduce both Japanese and Non-Japanese alike to the Kumano region.  Mi-Kumano has registered licensed English speaking guides well versed in the history and culture of the area.  Using a local guide makes a visit to the area richer and more fulfilling.  It is also a great way to travel responsibly by supporting the local community.  Be open to the feeling of Kumano, through the eyes of local with a passion for their home!  Please contact us for more information about arranging guide services.

All guides for Mi-Kumano tours have an official guide-interpreter license.

Etiquette for Mi-Kumano Walking

1.I will bring appropriate shoes and clothing suitable for a mountain walk, including rainwear and walking stick if necessary.

2.I will not drink alcohol prior to or during the walk along the Kumano pilgrimage road.

3.I will not smoke along the Kumano pilgrimage road. If I have to smoke, I will do so at indicated rest areas or other places where smoking is permitted, taking the utmost care to not cause a fire.
