Pick-up your pick at the Kumano Hongu Heritage Center across from the World Heritage Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine.  This plan can be used to tour the area and return to the center, or as a transportation option to the nearby hot spring villages where you can drop-off the bicycle.

Access

Busses run daily to Hongu from JR Kii-Tanabe Station, Shirahama, Shingu and Gojo.
● ~2 hours by bus from Kii-Tanabe Station (Bus timetable #1)
● ~1 hour 10 minutes by bus from Shirahama (Bus timetable #1)
● ~1 hour 20 minutes by bus from Shingu Station (Bus timetable #3)
● ~4 hours by bus from Gojo (Bus timetable #4)

Closest bus stop: Hongu Taisha-mae 本宮大社前

Rental Fee: ¥1,500 / day (Flat fee for one day rental).
※Includes battery assisted bicycle, helmet, lock, map, and insurance.

Hours: 8:30~17:00, Open year round

Please return the bicycle to any of the above locations by 17:00.

● Death payment ¥5,000,000
● Hospitalization ¥3,000 / day
● Hospital visit ¥1,500 / day
In the case of damage or theft of bicycle, the renter will be responsible for costs.
※ Please wear helmet. (Not wearing helmet voids insurance)


World Heritage Preservation

Please do not ride on the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route mountain trail sections to help us preserve this World Heritage site.


Battery

Battery times: strong mode ~17km, auto mode ~32 km

Battery assisted bicycles pedal like a normal bike.  To make the battery last longer, shut off the battery when on flat or downhill sections.  Also try not to pedal too aggressively when the battery is on to let the assist function work efficiently.

Courses visit hot springs, sites along the World Heritage Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Route, waterfalls, etc.
