Albergue Kodo is a family run guesthouse in a rural residential area near the JR Nachi train station. The owner has lived here for over 15 years and is originally from Tokyo. He runs a printing shop onsite. Recently he restored an older home on his property (all by himself!), transforming it into a lovely guesthouse with three rooms. His dream is to make friends from around the world and expose his children to international people. It is a very quaint atmosphere with shared facilities focused on communication and exchange—a cross between homestay and hostel (the word Albergue is Spanish from the facilities on the Way of St.James pilgrimage route in Northern Spain). Often the family eats with the guests in the communal kitchen area. The house itself is two stories surrounded by a large yard and forested mountain side.

There are three guests rooms:
● One on the second floor. (2 people capacity)
● Two on the first floor. (3 people capacity)
NOTE: The guest rooms on the first floor are divided by sliding doors, and ranma. (A ranma is a special decorative open carving above the sliding doors. It is made of wood.) Therefore these two guestsrooms are not very sound proof.
NOTE: There are no locks on the room doors as this is a normal Japanese home reformed into a guesthouse.

The guest house is located on the periphery of a rural residential area off the main road opposite the Makinono bus stop. To get to the guest house, there is a local road through a residential area off the prefectural highway. There is a small sign along the local road, indicating the turning towards the guest house.
NOTE: When it gets dark at night, the guest house may be difficult to find.
● The guesthouse is off of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route (~3 minute walk) between Nachi station and Kumano Nachi Taisha (nearer to the Nachi station end).
● ~3 km (~25 minute walk) from Nachi Sta and Nachi beach.
● ~7 kms walk or ~10 minute bus ride.to Kumano Nachi Taisha.
● ~10 minute taxi ride from Kii-Katsuura station.
● The nearest bus stop is Makinono (牧野々). ~15 minutes from Kii-Katsuura station, ~4 minutes from Nachi Station.NOTE: the last bus leaves Kii-Katsuura Station at 18:05 and Nachi Station at 18:13 each day.
