Albergue Kodo Guesthouse

 Description

Albergue Kodo is typical Japanese house transformed into a lovely homestay style guesthouse.  It is situated in a very quiet residential area, with a stream and forests surrounding the neighborhood.

Enjoying the natural setting is popular with guests such as viewing the Milky Way and deer who sometimes appear in the garden.  In summer if your timing is right, you can see fireflies in the evening!

During your stay in the quiet nature, you can sit on a rocking chair to read, or relax on the edge of a Japanese-style room facing our large garden.

OWNER MESSAGE: I think that you can enjoy interacting with hosts and host families, more intimate conversations and information exchange with other travelers, which cannot be experienced at other big hotels and inns.  Welcome to my home!  We wish for you to have a comfortable stay!

This plan is for a second floor room

●Community Meeting Area
There is a large area next to the guest house where local children gather after school to play games and practice baseball.

●Printing Shop
The owner runs a printing shop on site. So during the day (9:00-18:00) it can be a little noisy when the presses are running.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

●Surrounding Sites
The proximity of this guesthouse to Nachisan and the waterfall (Japan’s tallest!) makes this an ideal homestay base to explore the area, including the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes.

There are many hot springs in nearby Katsuura Onsen.  The most popular, Hotel Urashima (which features a bath in a cave overlooking the Pacific Ocean), is just a short journey from the guesthouse.

The famous fresh Tuna market is located near Kii-Katsuura Station and is a popular destination for visitors.

If you are planning to visit Kumano Hongu Taisha before or after your visit, it is roughly 1 hour by car or 2 hours to by bus and train.
