 Description

Whale Watching in Kumano

Nanki Marine Leisure Service is a small business located in the tiny port of Ugui, between Shingu and Katsuura.  Fishermen in the area wanted to share the excitement of experiencing the beauty and power of the ocean they work on everyday with the local people and visitors alike.  This desire to share and explore led them to create whale watching tours.  The Kuroshio black current runs next to the southern tip of the Kii peninsula attracting a diversity of sea life, including whales and dolphins.  The fishing boats take guests out into this vast seascape in search of encounters with these awe-inspiring mammals.  Nature is impossible to control, but with the network of other fishermen in the area, chances are greatly increased to see dolphins and whales in their natural environment.  Free pick-up is available from accommodation in nearby Katsuura Onsen.

Good service and kindly Boss

Very kindly arrangement and good service, what's pity that we didn't see the whale, but boss arrange a BBQ for us to comfort us. really good, hope have another chance to see the whale.

Although we cannot see the whale and dolphins in the trip, but throughout the process and the trip, we feel they are profession, smooth , helpful and we are happy... we will be back again...

captain have more experience to guide us, watch the whale three times in the trip. he keep a suitable area, have not disturb the whale.

friendly staffs. Got the chance to see a whale and a few dolphins. Not sure if that was dolphins or smaller sized whales as we dont understand Japanese.

Our whale watching trip on 6th September 2015

I booked a slot for the whale watching on a Sunday with my girlfriend. From the booking to going on the actual trip, we were given nothing but excellent service from the team. We had to be present at the site by 5.30 AM in the morning, however, we had no means of transport to get there. We stated that issue in the reservation site and requested for transport to take us there. There were no hesitation from the crew and they set us up. A day before the trip, the team called our hotel to get the front desk to warn us that the trip may be cancelled the next day due to heavy rain. This was because i stated that my handphone could not receive calls in Japan. The fact that the team warned us through our hotel's front desk clearly showed their impeccable service and regard for customer. On the actual day, one of the guy from the team drove his car to our accommodation to pick us up. He even drove us to a nearby place where my girlfriend and i could do some shopping and have our lunch once the trip was over. This was again 1 of the many ways the team had showed us their warmth and dedication in their service. Even when on the boat, the driver provided us with rain gear when it started raining. Everyone was really welcoming and friendly to the 2 of us. It really is a wonderful team and i sincerely hope that many other tourists will have the fortune of booking a tour with them.
