和歌山県那智勝浦エリアで「民宿わかたけ」を運営するオーナーがオープンしたお宿です。

オーナーのお父様が営んでいた楽器店を改装し、1Fはコワーキングスペース、2Fは利用者みなさまの共有スペース、3Fを客室として生まれ変わりました。
紀伊勝浦、そしてここに集うみなさまに繋がりや交友を持って欲しい、そのような想いからスタートしたお宿です。

スーツケースなど大きな荷物をお持ちのお客様に配慮した荷物置き場を1Fに設置、客室はセキュリティ面を考慮し電子ナンバー式のドアロックを採用。
2F共有スペースには自由に利用可能なキッチンを設置し、全てのお客様に安心して快適にご宿泊いただくための設備が整っています。

Great option right next to station and restauarnts

The room is on the 3rd floor accessable via a small stairway. The common areas were large and nice place to chill. The location is amazing. The owner also owns a restaurant about 5 minutes walk away which was also a highlight. Great food and very reasonable price.

The guestroom itself was probably a 4 star, but we could not possibly carry our luggage to the room. The 1st lot of stairs had no handrail and was open - not very safe. We left our luggage on the ground floor, our room was 2 flights up. Baths - the shower had little water and no hot water. The location was superb. This was a self check in, we did not see any staff. This place was not expensive and new & clean

I really enjoyed my stay here. It was spotlessly clean and I loved having the option to cook my own meals in the kitchen. It was a fantastic place to relax after finishing the Kumano Kodo. It's also located right next to the train station and the beautiful ocean is only a few blocks away, so the location is super convenient for exploring Katsuura and the surrounding area. Checking in is all done online, and it took me a minute to figure out, but overall it worked smoothly.

Best hostel that I have ever been.

Check-in instructions sent by email on time. Instructions were clear and the check-in proceedure was easy. The hostel was very clean, tidy, quite and had everything I need. Also, I felt very safe since you cannot enter the place without a safe code that is provided by the property.

Close to the bus & train station

Very close to the bus & train station. Close to shops. Accommodation was very clean and adequate for an overnight stay. Check in was online and easy. A good recommendation of passing through.

Great location

Excellent location close to the bus and train stations. Family Mart nearby. Easy access and Yamanto Transport delivers to this accommodation. Very private and great for 2 couples.

Peaceful and comfortable stay

Although our stay was short, we had everything we needed at Jiyujiya. The room was very clean and quiet. Highly recommend the nearby Kumano-no-mezame for dinner.

This house was managed in a modern and smart style. It was cozy and clean. I met two hikers who had stayed in the same location on my first night on trail! What a happy surprise. The host was very helpful. When we went to the restaurant across the road for dinner, we even got a drink on the house because of his business connection. Thank you!

Exactly what we needed

Our stay at Jiyujiya was exactly what we needed after our long 4-day Kumano Kodo trek. The beds were comfortable, bathrooms were clean, and you can't beat the location! We only had to walk 1 minute to the train the next morning. Thank you!

Cosy room and facilities

Next to the bus and train station. Room at level 3, level 2 is kitchen, bathroom and toilet. Downstairs is common working area. Suitable for those that need to travel to Nachisan the next morning. Super convenient and recommend for all that walk kumano kodo.

New and friendly location

Very new place right on the central square of Kii-Katsuura where you have the station and the bus stop. Very friendly and flexible welcome. The co-working, living-room and bedrooms are newly refurbished with a cool taste. There is stove and refrigerator if you like to cook but there are great restaurants around serving fresh fish that would be a crime to miss! Very recommended place to stay!

Quirky, spotlessly clean co working apartment

This place worked great for us. A 2 bed flat above a co working space, pretty much in the bus station. Sounds like it shouldn't work but it was perfect. We were only here for one night and found it to be the ideal base. Thank you.

next to the station

I'm not a fan of self-check-in and it was the same this time. The technology wasn't working properly and the owner had to come by. He was very friendly though. Unfortunately there was no hot water in the shower when I arrived which was disappointing as it was a cold day and I arrived tired and chilled. There was a power cut in the afternoon, apparently that was the reason. The next morning the hot shower worked. As others have written it has quite a steep staircase to the 3rd floor where the rooms are. However, the owner was kind enough to carry my suitcase up to the room. I was very happy about that. The room was fine but I wouldn't have been able to sleep without my earplugs. The at least 4 AC machines outside the room window were running all night and were very loud. This accommodation is more suitable for people who like to use the 2nd floor lounge and maybe eat there, I think I saw a microwave there too.

Great location and super cute place

More western style. It would be fantastic for a family or larger group to share, as there are only two rooms and a decent kitchen and living space. The wifi was also good. Very comfortable and the host was patient and accommodating, even though I did not arrive on time.

Self Check in was Easy, Location is Perfect

The accommodation is located 5 mins walk from the pier and the tuna auction market. Very convenient for you to catch the tuna auction every morning (except Saturdays). Self check in was easy, instructions are given ahead of your trip, just follow them! The place is fairly new, and it has full facilities, even for cooking, if you like. Room was spacious and very clean.

Good stay

Very nice place to stay after completing Kumano Kodo. Everything looked new. I had a backpack so I had no problems carrying it upstairs to my room even though the stairs are narrow. Larger luggage should probably be left downstairs.

Cozy space, great location and exceptionally clean

Had a great stay at Jiyujiya. Rooms are as advertised, check-in was smooth and shared toilet and bathroom are exceptionally clean. Put all you need for the night into a small bag for easy access as luggage storage area is on level 1.

Quirky option

A room above a shared workspace is a very different option - but fun to try. Nice to chat to some local students. It's small but clean. Comfortable futons. Nice shared kitchen (very sparsely supplied) and small eating area. The bathroom is downstairs, which is a bit tricky in the night. The stairs are steep. It's not ideal not being able to take your bags upstairs (stairs too narrow) but to have to rummage around and find stuff while people are in the workspace. But the location is fantastic, near the train and bus station and you get a discount voucher for dinner at their associated restaurant, which is great! We enjoyed it.

Extremely close to the train station. It's new and clean, rooms were comfortable, shower was good. Just note that facilities are shared. It's a little cumbersome as luggages need to be on the ground floor, bedroom is on the second floor and everything else is on the first floor, but so long as you are aware, it's a great place to stay.

Good location

the guestroom very close to the bus & railway station. the living room is on 2nd floor and the sleeping room is on 3th. floor with a narrow upper stair, not too much easier for elder customer. the whole building is newly decorated and feel quite good.

Comfortable stay in modern guesthouse

This was a perfect place to stay following the Kumano Kodo trek. It's right next to the Kii-Katsuura station, which means it's a few steps from where the bus from Nachi falls leaves you. It's equipped with a clean shared bathroom and kitchen. There are only two guest rooms so it'll never be uncomfortably full. The ground floor is a shared workplace for the town that you're welcome to use for any emailing/writing you have to do. Would definitely recommend!
