１日１組限定の宿・一階の中華レストランで食事が楽しめます。
国道168号沿いの請川バス停前にあり、小雲取越を歩かれる方の拠点になる、熊野古道の宿れいめい。
１階が創業46年の中華料理店で自家製手作り熊野牛ギョーザが大好評です。
２階が宿泊所となっており、1日1組限定ですのでお風呂、トイレも専用でご使用いただけます。熊野本宮大社まで歩いて約30分、熊野本宮温泉郷はバスで約15分、小雲取越の登り口からもすぐで、アクセスは良好です。

Friendly family place

Great location close to the start of the trailhead. Lovely family owned and nice Chinese style food. Would recommend to stay here

Didn't feel welcome

We felt that the hosts didn't want us to cause themselves any trouble, and so we were told to ask them first whenever we need anything, for example, a cup of hot water. Maybe we misinterpreted them - Maybe they just meant to be helpful. The bedroom, toilet and bathroom are dated but clean. Our main concern however was air circulation as there are no windows in any of these rooms; if there are any, they cannot be open.

A deviation from the route, but great value for money

This lodge is about 2-3km off-route (each way), but great value for money and the owners are very friendly.

A hidden gem

It doesn't look much from the outside, but Reimei gave us a very nice room. No meals included, but downstairs is a restaurant where we got a delicious meal wit plenty of vegetables, sadly lacking from most japanese meals. The location is very convenient, right at the track head. 2 km up the road we had a lovely outdoor Onsen in the river bank.

A great stay

The location was a little far away from the Kumano track but there is a bus that takes you pretty close so you don't have to walk too far, as long as you don't miss the last bus. The room was adequate with aircon, not the most aesthetically pleasing, but clean with a futon on the tatami, and private. I had a meal at the restaurant and the fried rice was really delicious and not pricey. The couple who run the place were lovely to me and provided great service during my stay.

Budget Gem

This budget guesthouse provided very comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price. We stayed one night and had meals in the restaurant. We loved the food as we could order to suit our tastes. Our host and hostess were welcoming and helpful. As it was raining heavily on our first day we decided to soak in an outdoor onsen. We were walked to the bus stop, provided with umbrellas and given a discount coupon. The next day we were told what bus and which side of the road to stand on to get to the start of our walk. We were very grateful as we met other travelers who missed buses and bus stops.

The worst experience in our piligrimage route

In the reservation it wasn’t the option to include meals, and when you get there you could see why. the owners have a restaurant under the rooms and they suggest you to eat there. It is not allowed to eat in the rooms and the lodging is far from any other restaurant. There is only one supermarket a few meters away. We didn’t want to eat there and the attitude of the owners changed completely, they wanted to charge us for tap water and to put it in the fridge. We would not repeat.

best location and wonderful people

the owners are extremely nice and they make your arrival as feeling going back home. A feet bath and a tea as a initial reception. Great chinese food and bento for the trail. They even dried my shoes after the rain and filled out my bottle of water. Room was clean , spacious, japanese way. I loved it. The place is right in the bus station at at the entrance of the trail which is very helpful and easy to go around. I recommend it.

Very convenient

A short bus ride from Hongu and ideally placed to get the bus the next morning back to the Kumano Kodo information center. Had an extremely warm welcome from the hosts on arrival. We ate dinner in the restaurant that evening and it was very tasty.

When in Hongu, spend the night in Kumano Kodo-no-Yado Reimei Lodging House

Seji-san and his wife were so accommodating. They picked us up from Hongu Taisha right after we called. They gave hot foot baths and offered to clean our dirty shoes which we have used for 3 days to hike the Nakahechi route. The food was freshly made by Seji-san himself, who took up culinary arts in Osaka. The tatami room was spacious and the shared bathroom had piping hot water in the shower. You can even opt to use the bath tub if you like. Seji-san went the extra mile and helped us plan our hiking route the next day. He suggested that we start at the end of Koguchi and hike back to his inn which was a few meters from the trail head from Hongu. This was because he was worried we might not get to catch the few buses that stop in Koguchi to get to Yunomine. He kept our hiking bags for the day so we didn't have to bring the heavy gear - he surprised us as well by driving us to Yunomine himself. Definitely will go back! We are very grateful! Thank you :)

Great place

Wonderful service

Run by a wonderful couple who could not have been more helpful, including getting up at 5:00 to make sure I caught the right bus. Lovely little restaurant for evening meal. I will use gain when I next walk the Kumano.

Advantage: Great location to start the trail @ ukegawa (just opposite of trailhead). Disadvantage: 3km away from Hongu Taisha area (can take a bus). After we dropped off our bags to check-in, the owner volunteered to drive us to Hongu Taisha because there was no buses. When returning to the house, we decided to walk back, and along the way we were picked up by the owner who specially drove out to look for us because it was getting late.

Very Generous Hosts!

My wife and I stayed here after completing the Kumano Kodo. Our hosts were the most welcoming, friendly and generous people we met in Japan. When we arrived we were given tea and hot water for our sore feet. The room is traditional Japanese style which we found very comfortable and we bought a lovely meal in the restaurant that evening. We had planned on going to the Yunomine Onsen that day but transport links were limited, on learning about this, our host offered to take us to the Kawayu Onsen instead. We were very surprised and pleased - it was a wonderful gesture of kindness and really made our day. The next day as we left our hosts gave us an umbrella because it was raining and waited to wave us off as the bus left. They were so kind I was actually quite moved and our stay with Reimei remains a highlight of our trip to Japan. Our wonderful host and his wife made us feel very welcome and we will always remember them fondly. Thank you Reimei! I definitely recommend this place to stay.

Cute Couple!

Great location for start of Ukegawa to Koguchi section of trail. Beautiful reception involving complementary footbath, welcome tea, and boot cleaning. Great food at a reasonable price.

A bit inaccessible from Hongu, but excellent service

The owners were so friendly and helpful - the first thing they did when I walked in was give me a hot water basin for my feet. They helped me plan an early morning trip to the onsen and then immediately after a bus trip to Shingu. Fantastic service! The only thing is that this hotel is a bit far from Hongu, about a 45-min walk. I think there's a bus from Hongu to the hotel though, but I didn't manage to find it.

Reimei Guesthouse

The Reimei Lodging house was very clean, and rooms were very generous. The bathroom was locked after a certain time, and not available for morning use, which is the only downside. Meals were not included but it was very easy to get a meal at the restaurant downstairs. The hosts were lovely.

Very good!

This private house offers a very nice service. The Japanese family was very kind and helpful. The local dishes served ad dinner were amazing (fabulous home made gyoza) dispite the not so good looking images of the menu. very reccomended to eat to them. House was fine for that price and location too, near everything in the area (onsen and kumano roads) and served by bus.

Relaxing last day.

Very good spot after the second day. Only some 20min walk to the river side for taking a bath. Extremely helpful to find the right bus to the next destination. And the kids got a little bento for the bus ride. Very good value for the price.

Very friendly and welcoming hosts

Although this place looked the least luxurious, it was my favourite accomodation. The hosts are really, really nice and caring. Upon arrival a footbath was prepared for me and he asked me about which food I eat (I am a vegetarian). I had it later in the restaurant that they are running downstairs. In the morning they both recieved me there although it was before 6am. He gave me a fresh onigiri as "present", while she waited with me at the busstop where we talked as best as I could manage with my very basic Japanese skilly. Definitively recommed it!

Looked after us well

Late again and the owner came to get us as we didn't know how to find the guesthouse.so welcoming footpaths for our tired feet, a freshly cooked meal and extended bath hours so we could get a welcome shower. Also helped us get the bus next day and Mae sure we didn't leave things behind.

Lovely place!

We were warmly welcome by the owners and really well taken care of. The room was nice with padded comfortable futon beds and the food was so delicious! The owners were very kind to us and made us feel at home, welcoming us back each day with a nice drink and asking us about where we had visited. They even went to see us off at the bus stop at the end of our stay. We truly enjoyed our time here.

Lovely place for lovely owners

We loved everything about this place : the owners are so kind, the room was true japanese style, everything is very clean and dinner was very tasty ! Also the location is very convenient, a bus stop is in front of the guesthouse. From there, you van go to Hongu, Kawayu Onsen, Yunomine Onsen, Shingu, Kii-Tanabe. There also is a combini next to the house ! If you come in this area for the kumano kodo path, don't hesitate to book a room here :) My sister and I would love to come back ! A bientot ! This lovely guesthouse is definately worth staying. The owners are very kind (they even gave us a ride to one of the bust stops so we could walk from there), and we really liked the food as well! We didn't have any meal plan but still ate there during the two nights we were staying over, and had some really nice sake as well :) The room was very nice and clean with good futons. If you are going on a hike, it is recommended to get lunch in one of the nearby shops, or to kindly ask the owners of they are willing to prepare some rice for you to take along. There really is no shop at all to buy food during the hikes (we only met one lady selling some sweets), so please be prepared! We would definately recommend a stay at this guesthouse!

Great hosts. Super helpful.

We arrived totally drenched from a heavy downpour, owner let us check in early and helped with getting our shoes and rain gear dry again - which was a big help. Simple, clean accommodation, good food at the Chinese restaurant downstairs (same owners) which is also frequented by locals. Bus stop right in front to return to Tanabe (and other locations).

Reimei Lodging

The location was good because near to bus stop that guarantee the possibility to rich all the main interesting spots of the area, the frequency of the buses is on the best so the day tour has to be planned carefully. The owner and his wife were very kind and supportive.

Good value for money in a very good location.

A very good accommodation to stay, very good value for money. Our room was specious and nice. The owner was very friendly and supportive. Also convenient that the owner runs a chinned restaurant. The bus stop is in front of the door, foot paths near by, convenience store near by. The area is very beautiful and a bath in Yunomine onsen is a must!

Nice people

This ryokan is a good budget option. It is clean and the owners are really friendly. They try to communicate in English. They gave us a nice footbath when we arrived. The futon is quite thin.

Lovely stay

My stay at Reimei Lodging House was very nice, especially because of the friendly patrons. The owner Mr Nojiri and his wife made me feel very welcome helped me get around the area. Mr Nojiri even recommended a full moon walk to me and it was beautiful! The rooms were clean and the food was tasty. The owners are very friendly and nice. They had prepared a food bath for our arriving. They also own a restaurant o the first floor and the fod is cheap and delicious. It is a little far away from the Kumano Taisha, we had to walk around 4 more km to get there, but it worth it.

Great location, excellent value, lovely hosts

Staying here was a delight. Lodgings are located on the second floor of a ramen restaurant, so food is right at your fingertips. The owners are very accommodating - I had blisters on my feet and they pulled out their own first aid kit for me to borrow. The location is great - right next to a bus stop so you are only a short ride away from Hongu, or a variety of Onsen towns.

Thank you for the ride!

The place is basic but everything you need after a full day of hiking. The meals at the restaurant are exquisite. The owner pick us up from the bus stop (4km away) without even asking for it. With it was a wonderful surprise. Thank you so much!

Very good location and service

The check-in time is 16.00 which can be a bit anoying if you arrive there earlier. Although they ofered to take our things and they even gave us a lift to the onsen. Good place, and the food in their restaurant is good. Only complain is that they don't provide towels and we had to carry them all through the hiking just for this accommodation.
