Great stay!
Great stay! Super kind hosts, delicious meals, and great service. The only negative was the Onsen was way too hot for me to bathe in. Even with adding some cold water, it didn’t cool down enough to bathe within 15 minutes so I gave up getting in.

Wonderful host family
A group of 3 of us shared a traditional tatami room at Minshuku Yamane in late September. The room was clean and spacious. The onsen was super hot (we were very careful to check the temperature regularly). And the meals (dinner and breakfast) were absolutely wonderful - beautiful, nutritious food served by our kind and gracious hosts. Highly recommended.

highly recommended
the village of Yunomine Onsen is special with the hot spring running middle of the village ! The minshuku is very pleasant, staff is very kind and shows the accommodation around. The food was delicious and the lady serving gave us explanations about nori & rice etc. Rooms are quiet, we had a good sleep after a lengthy walk :)

Family style guesthouse with delicious home cooked food
Really enjoyed the homely feel of this guesthouse The owner clearly took pride in her meals and that came across in her cooking We enjoyed the onsen facilities here and even though the place was booked out both me and my partner never had to share the space The traditional Japanese breakfast was delicious and the staff were very helpful and friendly After we checked out we walked about an hour down to Wataze Onsen to swim in the river which has areas of thermal heat. A must do!

Super friendly and a great night
Stayed here after a long trekking day - what a delightful welcome! Place was super clean and welcoming. Room comfortable and a private onsen - perfect way to end our day. The dinner and breakfast were excellent! The hosts also ensured we could have an early start the next day. A great place to stay.

Minshuku Yamane
Great location and delicious meals. The onsen was very basic and lacked amenities. Bathrooms are shared with other guests. The hosts were friendly but not particularly helpful or welcoming. It was fine for one night but we would not enthusiastically recommend staying here.

Great onsen experience
The Yamane Guesthouse is just steps away from the bus stop and easy to find. The room we had was a large traditional Japanese room (tatami mats + futon mattresses). No chairs meant sitting on floor or pillows. There is a private onsen and it was great to be able to relax in the soothing hot water. The meals were served traditional Japanese style (sitting cross legged on the floor). The food was delicious and the host were very friendly and spoke only Japanese. it was also great to be able to wake up and have a quick soak in the onsen before setting out the next day.

The kindest and nicest hosts, great location, wonderful dinner
These were the warmest and friendliest hosts we had on the Kumano Kodo. Really a wonderful welcome and the food was excellent. The location is excellent, quicker than Googlemaps has it out to be (3 min walk from Tsuboyu). I will say the walls are super thin, you do hear the other three guest rooms as people are waking up or rattling around. But people go to bed early, so the night is fine. A little awkward is that in the shared toilets the mens urinal is in an open space you have to walk through to get to the toilet.

Great onsen
The hosts were kind and helpful despite not speaking English, and were particularly good at helping us dry our shoes and clothes after a day of heavy rain. The private onsen is an experience I will never forget.

Our first onsen!
This guest house was a revelation to us. We were a family party of three couples. We were the only guests on the night we stayed and our hosts could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. The traditional Japanese hospitality, meals and bedrooms were wonderful. The guest house has its own private onsen baths, one for women and one for men. As we were the only guests each couple was allowed to use an onsen together. The care that was taken over our packed lunches was a joy to behold when we opened them on our trek the next day. Thank you for your warm welcome and our wonderful visit.

Wow, what an experience!
Beautiful, traditional home with the hottest onsen imaginable! The hosts were delightful and friendly and cooked a delicious dinner and very full and hearty breakfast! We loved our stay! The rooms were so clean and cozy. The town is breathtakingly beautiful! We highly recommend this minshuku.

Basic Minshuku, with excellent food.
Yamane is a basic Minshuku accommodation with shared bath. Nothing fancy. However the meals were delicious and exceeded our expectations for this modest lodging. The owners were very nice and accommodating.

Great place to stay in an onsen town--super nice hosts!
Minshuku Yamane was a great place to unwind after a long day (well over 20K) on the trail. Good--but very hot--onsen and the town itself is lovely. The food was terrific and the family that runs the guesthouse were so helpful. One of us was having some heat rash (we hiked in a heat advisory) and they had some cream to help and treated us like relatives. Highly recommended.

A fabulous stay.
Our hosts were charming, friendly and great cooks! The dining room was beautifully appointed and the food lovingly prepared. The shared facilities were spotless. Our room was delightful, clean and spacious, filled with the sound of the stream running down the moutain behind us. The on-site onsen was wonderful; the water was hot and soothing and with the windows open at night and the frogs coaking right outside, it was aperfect end to a long day of trekking.

Best Meal we ate the entire trip!
The guesthouse was easy to find, only 1-2 minute walk from the bus stop. We were greeted and shown to our private room which was small, but had everything we would need for a short stay. The dinner and breakfast were the two best meals we ate the entire trek. Prepared with love and personality from our hosts who loved to show us how to properly mix and eat everything. The tempura was UNREAL! We used the on-site private onsen to relax after supper.

More hostel than guesthouse
We were a bit disappointed with the accommodation. We had a traditional Japanese room but the futons were very thin. The toilet and wash basins were a shared facility and there was no shower. There was only a sink and broken shower in the onsen which was not in great condition. The onsen water was extremely hot and difficult to cool down enough to enter. In the end we just washed off with a bucket. The food, however, was excellent.

Sometimes five stars are not enough
A warm and friendly welcome, a fantastic dinner, a spacious and cozy room and on top of it a private onsen. It's a pity we only stayed for one night! Not luxury, but felt like we were with family!
Looking past the slightly dingy-looking rooms and baths, this was the most rewarding stay of our trip. The onsen baths felt real and authentic, as opposed to being fancy versions to make westerners comfortable, and we were happy to share them with other Japanese families on vacation. The dinner was excellent--we felt like we were at a family meal, and the hostess wasn't shy about helping us properly enjoy some of the unfamiliar dishes in front of us. Again, the experience felt authentic as opposed to faked for our comfort. The hosts speak some English, and any language gaps were easily resolved with Google Translate. If you're looking for luxury, stay elsewhere. If you want an authentic cultural experience, this is it. Very convenient location in Yunomine Onsen--small town, and you'll be steps from the bus, hiking trails, etc.

A smaller guesthouse in an Onsen town
This was a quaint smaller guest house in a small town about a 20 min bus ride from the trailhead. They only had 3-4 guest rooms, a shared toilet and their own Onsen (nice & hot). The food was outstanding and the owners were friendly & helpful. The town itself was interesting, in a small valley with a stream, and had a number of volcanic hot water pools along the stream where you could boil eggs in the waters or have an Onsen.

Excellent stay
The charm of Yunomine was made more memorable with our stay here. Easy to find, big comfortable room. The food served was excellent. I've been here 4 times!
The number of times I visited Yamane in itself tells how much I love this place. Miyako san is the best host of all Kumano places that I've been to. I've been doing a complete Kumano trekking altogether 3 times, all with the same group of friends. This time, though, I was taking my family to have a taste of the Kumano Kodo by choosing the best highlight of all the overnight destinations, and Yamane was the first place that I chose. Unsurprisingly, the family loved it. Yunomine Onsen is the most interesting place among the Kumano destinations that everybody cannot afford to miss. And Yamane's hospitality is where you don't want to pass. You'll be pampered by the dinner and breakfast that are meticulously prepared, a truly combination of Japanese delicacies. Ms. Miyako will make sure that you have them in the right way. She would try to explain to you how special each dish is. What the ingredients are, and where they came from. All in all, it makes your stay very memorable.

Enjoyable Authentic Home
We thoroughly enjoyed our night at this delightful homestay hotel. The meals were absolutely superb and family extremely helpful and kind. The bath was virtually private as only one other couple stayed on the same night. Highly recommend this hotel.

best meal of the trip
Incredibly friendly hosts, great location, and the food was the best we had on the Kumano Kodo trail. Just FYI that the bath is only at the onsen (typical), has no shower head, so it's bucket only, which is also fine. However the natural hot spring onsen was too hot for me to use, even after mixing cold water as instructed by the host. Not their fault though - that's just what nature created!

Great food and primative bath but atmosphere was good
We asked the inn owner not to prepare any fried or tempura dishes so we had our best meal in 3 days here. She provided us with many tasty homemade dishes that were appropriate for the very hot weather. The bath is pretty simple, a bath with a few wooden buckets and stools and hot and cold water faucets. Thankfully we had our own shampoo and rinse so we could get clean. We were surprised to have to pay ¥700 bath fee.

Your knees may need the onsen here...
We found this day's walk to be an absolute killer! It was cold wet and rainy and we missed the instructions to take the bus in town. Sooooo.....we found ourselves walking a super wet and steep track as nightfall approached. By the time we rocked up to the accommodation we were a hot mess! All we needed was a bath, a new set of knees, a strong drink and bed! The meals were fantastic and tasty and the hosts were friendly! The onsen is a little old and run down but did the trick in soothing a worn out body! Thank you for a lovely stay!

Great Minshuku in Yunomime with onsen
The housekeeper ist very welcome and offers great food and Support. The rooms are quite small but in a nice traditional japanise way. The food ist delicious and you can have as much as you like. The Onsen is great but is a little bit egg smelly.

Onsen rice and coffee made with onsen water here is superb!! Simply delicious! A very traditional, authentic and genuine experience here! Owner Obasan Yamane is truly like a Japanese grandmother who may come across as a little fierce and strict, but is actually very caring and sweet on the inside. Excellent service here!!

A good private Onsen
Yunomine is a must stop to be honest. You should definitely go for that guesthouse. First time in an Onsen and I dont regret that this was the place. Onsen have a different feel from a regular Spa.

Very good
Our stay at Minshuku Yamane was very pleasant. The hosts were very polite and nice to us, and despite having limited skills in English, our communication with them was quite effortless. The meals were outstanding, very delicious and varied. Our room was good, with an air conditioning unit we could control. The onsen wasn't anything too fancy but all in all good. I would definitely recommend Minshuku Yamane to other visitors!

Family ambient with clean cozy room

This guesthouse was very comfortable and in an ideal location a minute walk off the trail. The meals here were the best of the entire trip - the tempura was brought to us fresh out of the fryer, and everything was well presented and prepared!!! The baths were a little disappointing because they were too hot for comfort, felt more like being scalded (42 degrees C, 107 degrees F). We didn't try the private town baths but others went and highly recommended them (but said they were also extremely hot).

Interesting little village
This place is in many ways unforgettable. Very friendly people, who welcomed us. Excellnet dinner, explained very detailed by the owner . She was so pleased to show her local cuisine and it tasted just wonerful. An onsen in the back of their house and all the comfort you need during hike: washing machine. We stayed 2 nights and it was great, to hike the second day back to Hanga Taisha. She gave us a beautiful wrapped lunchbox, tea and also an extra little package with different kind of rice balls.

The rooms were all upstairs and size reasonably small and no en suite. There's 2 toilets and a traditional bath house where guests have to walk outside and follow a series of stairs to reach the onsen bath house, one for men and another for women.

Great meals but Guestroom could have been better
We had two rooms. One room was good. The other room had lots of insects flying around and the air conditioner shuts down intermittenly. Owner couldn't fix the problem. We (4 of us) ended up sleeping in the 'good' room. On the plus side, the meals were fantastic!

Great spot amazing staff. I read a few reviews by travelers wanting it to be different than it was. ( hot spring too hot, dinner to early etc). Comfortable and homely.
The in-house Onsen was a blessing and the meals were great. A yukata was provided which was pleasant to change into at the end of the day. The small garden was beautiful and the old town lovely. There was easy access to buses.

More of a hostel
The family that operated this Minshuku was friendly and served sumptuous meals. We were not satisfied though with the amenities particularly the Onsen. It did not have a proper shower, the water was too hot. The Onsen needs to be renovated.

very traditional
We were exhausted on arrival after a long days walk with an unexpected detour. Would have liked to be able to relax in an onsen before dinner - . However we arrived at 5.15 and dinner was at 5.30 sharp. Felt this was a bit restrictive. Would have like to have till 6.30pm to gather our thoughts. I also was not keen on eating dinner in our sweaty gear. Food was good, and the host tried to help as as best as possible, but limited English. Not too sure that I would recommend it specifically, but that could be because we were spoilt with outstanding accommodation on prior nights

Not enjoyed our stay
We stayed 2 nights and there was no room service. We even have to set up our own futons ourselves each night. We were not provided with drinking water, cups or teapot in the room. Lastly, we were given one towel each and no fresh one the next day and had to hang the wet towels on the outdoor railing to dry. Will not recommend this place.

At first, the owners appeared a bit unwelcoming, eg changing the meal time from 6.00pm to 5.30pm. However, the service thence forth was excellent - they provided newspaper to store our wet gear on, stuffed our wet boots with newspaper to help dry them out and best of all how to eat the seaweed sheets at breakfast properly.

Minshuku Yamane is located very close to the bus stop in Yunomine onsen making it convenient for travelers who take the bus after walking. The room was spotlessly clean though quite basic. The hostess was gregarious, funny, and very hospitable.

Great onsen and rest place
We enjoyed our stay on Mishuku Yamane. The hostess is a memorable character and does a great job making sure you are comfortable and understand how everything works. Yunomine Onsen is an easy bus ride from Hongu and the next morning it's an easy bus ride back to trail head in Ukegawa. The room was a nice place to rest for the night (and get dry after a long day hiking in the rain). Enjoyed the rustic onsen. The dinner and breakfast were excellent! So thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and really delicious! We enjoyed staying here and would recommend it - great value and a nice place to stay.

Great stay, firecracker host
We really enjoyed this stay. Perhaps the best part is the hostess, who was a complete character and quickly endeared herself to me. The location is great, and the food was very good - second only to our stay in Nachisan. We had a fun time strolling around the town and going into the public onsen on the river. A memorable stay that I would recommend to anyone in the vicinity!

Great enthusiasm
We were a bit bummed about having to take the bus to our accomodation, but what can you do when you book very late. The place was awesome though and the host very enthusiastic. She helped us with eating (I for one had no clue which parts of the fish I should eat) and was very friendly.

Nice hotel on a good location
The Minshuku is located close to the busstation and has it's own onsen/hot bath which was really hot! In the shared dining room dinner is served for all guests together in a Japanese manner (sitting on low tables). Dinner and breakfast were very good.

Yunomine paradise
Cosy, traditional japanese minshuku. Baths and taps were provided with onsen water. There was a private onsen pool in the male and female bathrooms specially for the guests. Food was amazing, both dinner and breakfast. The obachan running the place was very particular about doing things the correct traditional way - including wearing the yukatas and eating certain dishes with specific sauces. The experience was unforgettable. Location was good as it is close to a convenience store, the egg-boiling onsen pool, the world heritage private onsen and the public onsen.

Reception looks a little bit "cold", as the host begins first to show us what you are not allowed to do!! But you understand quickly that it is because she wants that everything will be perfect for all the guests Location in the middle of the village, close to the bus stop Baths are located in a separate building, and you have to add a very small participation for them, as I understood that they are using the water of the river, or something similar.. Best moments were the meals, supper and breakfast, very delicious and shared with the host, who comes at your table to describe and explain what you are eating, and how you should eat that: Great moments!!

Traditional minshuku with its own onsen - plus delicious food.
Despite being full of foreigners this place remains friendly and traditional, with an emphasis on excellent food. The dinner in particular was the best we had in Japan - the owners pride themselves on providing brilliant food. Some of the food is cooked in the onsen waters. They have two largish onsens (one for men and the other for women) with mineral waters which will cure your hiking pains. Right in the centre of town.

Best meal on our trip
Please don’t listen to reviews that say that the host is grumpy. We found her to be delightful. She wanted to show us the proper way to eat a Japanese meal and I can see how that might be a little much for some western clients but not nice you realize that she wants everything to be perfect for you everything is great. She prepared the most amazing evening meal which I cannot begin to describe accurately. It was delicious and beautifully presented too. As was the breakfast too. Our host couldnt speak much English but she really wanted to strike up a conversation with us. We miss her food already.

We came back to this place for the second time in a row because the team was impressed by the hospitality. The host treats us as if we were members of the family. We learn how to properly eat and mix each Japanese dish together. This makes the food tastes real Japanese and more enjoyable. We feel like we are part of the family, as opposed to the other places where we are just a tourist sharing the room. The in-house onsen is linked to the natural hot spring, making the bath a pleasant experience. Yunomine is a lovely village where we can easily stay there for two nights just walking around and do nothing.

Friendly hosts in perfect location!
We arrived at this accommodation early, however the hosts were kind to let us in. We had been walking in the rain, so we really appreciated being welcomed with towels. Our room was very spacious, with a designated area for our bags. Meals provided were delicious! The highlight of this Minshuku was its location! It is connected to a public onsen and also walking distance to the famous Yunomine Onsen. This town was definitely one our highlights!

We met the host of the guesthouse Miyako and were absolutely stunned when she told us she was in her 70's! She was incredibly friendly and took a lot of pride in what she does. She went out of her way to tell us and show us about the dinner that was served, and how to eat them the traditional way. She was so charming and was worried that we will be cold and kept reminding us to put on warm clothes for the walk. The bath at Minshuku Yamane was sooo good - we went twice!

Yunomine Onsen is a lovely onsen town in the middle of the mountain. This is why you expect the onsens in the minshuku to be at least clean. In minshuku Yamane, the onsen baths don't seem to be maintained. The buckets are very mouldy, as well as the walls and ceilings. In one of the onsens, one shower tap (out of 2 showers) is broken, so you have to wait to wash, although easily 3 people could fit in the onsen.. I have lived and travelled in Japan for more than 2 years, this is the worst onsen I have ever seen. And you have no choice but to wash in there. Rooms are small but good. Meals are good too, although you don't seem to be given the same food as the Japanese guests. Also, dinner at 5:30 is much too early, to suit the owners rather than the travelling public. If you have a choice to stay in another minshuku, avoid this one.

Minshuku Yamane
A small but perfectly formed room, with the added traditional sulphur baths a short step away in the building. The food was fabulous, beautifully presented at traditional tatami tables. A fantastic last night of the Kumano Kodo.

Wonderful!
Nice experience at Minshuku Yamane. The owners were welcoming and kind. Food was delicious, rooms were clean and spacious, location was convenient. We want to go back to stay here again, next time for at least a few nights. The Mrs there was so sweet and nice to us, we really liked her and her husband!

Loved the onsen
We were delighted by the spacious room, really two rooms, and the onsen baths were terrific. Make sure here you explore the onsen up the hill from this accommodation. Fascinating. Especially the cooking area where we were informed the natural mineral spring is at 90degrees Celsius.

A great host
Great hospitality.Felt so energized because of the host's attentiveness and genuine warmth in the way they look after you. It make the trip so much more memorable. The delicious meals were well prepared in such a homely manner that really made us feel we are like a good friend eating at the host's home. Hilarious introduction and very nice food

Great place to relax and enjoy Japanese cuisine
The right place to relax after a 25 km hike. We had a spacious room and enjoyed the onsen of the place. A separate shower would have been nice, but I guess it is normal for these place not to have any. The hosts were very friendly, always ready to help, and dinners and breakfasts were simply great. We stayed two nights and were happy we did.

Superb Lodging in Yunomine Onsen
Minshuku Yamane is in the heart of Yunomine Onsen and convenient to the main Hongu area by bus or on foot. The hosts at Minshuku Yamane were very warm and gracious. We enjoyed two nights here, the meals (dinners and breakfasts) were all really good. The host was keen to explain the finer points of Japanese food to the gaijin travellers staying here. On the morning we left, our hiking pole which had been left with our hiking shoes by the entrance had gone missing. It could not be found and we could not ascertain what had transpired. The hostess insisted on replacing it with one from her husband as a gift! We cannot thank her enough for her generosity as it ensured we could continue as planned. We highly recommend Minshuku Yamane.

We arrived soaked after walking in the rain. Our host took care of us, helping us to dry off clothing and boots. The room was comfortable although I could not get used to the pillows with the hard pieces in them. The meals were spectacular, delicious and beautiful to behold. Fantastic lplace
This was one of my favorite places in Japan.The hosts were wonderful people. They took care of me after I had fallen on the walk. The real onsen with great hospitality
The place sits right opposite to the trail. The onsen got the water supply from the hot spring below, making the experience very rewarding. The host was very welcoming. Wonderful guestbouse
We both had a fantastic stay at Minshuku Yamane. The hosts were extremely welcoming and accommodating. They provided us with one of the best meals we had during our time in Japan. Our room was spacious and the onsen was a great way to relax after spending the day walking up mountains. Yunomine proved to be the perfect rest spot to walk from (as long as you don’t mind hills).

Great service
We were to stay at Minshuku Yamane after the longest day of hiking and we had missed the bus in the Hongu area. So grateful that Mr. Yamane came to pick us up and saved us having to walk another 2 kilometers! This property is a bit older, and the room smaller than others we stayed at but it did not lack for hospitality. The meals were hearty and just what we needed after walking so far. I didn't try the bath because the property was very near the World Heritage Tsuboyu Onsen, so that is where we had a soak. Mrs. Yamane has a big personality but it was great to overcome the language barrier - I love how she showed us how to use the small nori wrappers at breakfast.

Excellent Experience

Felt like family
We arrived at Yamane slightly early, due to horrible hiking conditions. We had been in rain all day, we arrived with all our belongings and clothes wet. The host was very sweet and ethusiastic in taking all our wet clothes and hanging them for us. We felt taken care of, and like family right away. The meal was the best meal we had during our entire Kumano Kodo trek. Everything was cooked with hot spring water as well, which was apparently a health benefit. The accommodation is very close to the main communal hot spring of the area, where you can also cook food or heat your bottled sake inside the natural hot springs. Unbelievable sight to see! It was also a good place to socialize with other Kumano Kodo hikers and travelers, especially at dinner where we shared nice conversations with other guests. Thank you for everything, we will always remember this place!

Excellent food, comfortable rooms
We were treated to excellent food, and generous hospitality, especially being shown how best to enjoy traditional Japanese delicacies. Excellent breakfasts with eggs cooked in the kitchen's own onsen! The minshuku has its own little onsen bath, which was great, and very close to the Unesco world-heritage listed onsen bathhouse that is part of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage.

Onsen was too hot to use
The meals, staff and location were excellent. The bathroom/onsen is a shared same sex bathroom using water that smells strongly of sulphur. The Onsen was too hot to get in and the compulsory onsen tax is not included in the price of the accommodation. The accommodation offers take away lunches but this was not an option when booking.

Charming stay with an excellent dinner
We had a nice stay. The dinner was excellent. Because of an early departure of bus and train we weren't able to have breakfast. But our hosts prepared a breakfast "take away" with fresh boiled eggs in the onsen water. Great! The hosts were really nice and the lady host brought some napkins when we were waiting at the bus station.

Friendly and comfortable minshuku in a lovely setting.
We took a day off the Kumano Kodo trek and spent 2 nights here. We were very comfortable in our room and the food was wonderful and the friendly host showed us how to eat some of the food. She helped with everything we asked for and provided us with a lovely lunch as well. We were surprised when she told us we had to pay a tax of 150 yen per person per night because no other minshukus asked for this. Nevertheless I would stay here again for all the other reasons.

Very good meals
Yamane was a pleasant surprise, tucked in a beautiful garden off the main street. The helpful owner was proud of the local produce and served a wonderful, artistically presented dinner that included some new (for us) items, such as a whole salted trout that one ate like an ear of corn. Breakfast was equally delicious. The rustic outside onsen gave us our first experience with the true, very hot, sulfury mineral bath for which Yunomine Onsen is famous. Yamane is a well-run guesthouse with a comfortable family feeling to it.

Welcome haven in the rain
We arrived in the rain after a long day walking. Out rooms were perfect for us - family of 5 in joined rooms. We immediately made ourselves more human by using the Onsen which is small but the water was wonderful. Dinner was comprehensive Japanese meal and the Mrs Yamane showed us how to eat various dishes - tasty. The most lovely thing was that in the morning I found all our walking boots with newspaper inside to dry our any moisture - lovely touch

Wonderful accommodation in a quaint onsen town
We loved our stay here. The landlady was one of the nicest lady I know. Even though language was a bit of a barrier, it didn't stop her to explain things to us, which was greatly appreciated! The trickling sulfuric water coming in to onsen made me feel so spoilt!

Very satisfied
The location was perfect, very close to the Kumano kodo. The mesl was fantastic. We would have like a shower beside the onsen, but it was an lod style minshuku, so we enjoyed everything anyway.

A lovely guesthouse with an beautiful onsen
The small village of Yunomene Onsen was really worth finishing Kumano Kodo there. It is a shame if you finish very late like we did, and you have to head off early in the morning. We changed our transport schedule so we could stay until lunchtime because it was so charming. We wished we had stayed one more day there. It is a traditional onsen village that hasn't been affected by tourism yet and it was even prettier as we saw it under the snow. Our hosts were charming, they didn't have much English but enough so we could understand each other and their daughter speaks English so they skped her when we asked a question that they could not understand. They were extremely helpful. Breakfast and dinner are a full banquet. Amazing cooking. So much food. Hats of to the chef! Our room was lovely and the onsen was unbelievable. It was the first time that we had been to an onsen in our life and after 3 days of walking, it was bliss. We had it just for ourselves. You walk outside the minshuku on a small walkway and you get into a room with an onsen in it. I thought I would get cold! It was so warm that we opened the windows with below 0 temperatures outside. Very romantic, very peaceful, very soothing for our muscles. We spend so much time in it and made sure we woke up early so we could go again in the morning before 9.30am. You need to leave at 9.30am but you can leave your luggage in the Minshuku and walk around. The entrance garden is lovely too. If you are like us and you finish too late to see properly Hongu Taisha and catch the bus on time, stay two nights and go back to Hongu Taisha the following day. Plus make the most of the onsen.

Just OK, not great
We arrived after 8.5 hours of walking really looking forward to relaxing in a hot bath. However, the onsen here was so hot, we could not stand in it (let alone sit in it). (I have lived for over 2 years in Japan and travelled here several times and this is the first time I have ever encountered a bath which was too hot). It was nice that we had an extra room to put our baggage in. I am sure that Mrs Yamane was trying to be helpful,but at times she was very overbearing. For example, I think she just assumed we were all foreigners who knew nothing about Japanese food or culture (rather than asking if it was our first time in Japan etc). At breakfast, my sister who had an upset stomach just wanted to eat plain rice. However, Mrs Yamane took her rice bowl out of her hand and mixed in all the pickles etc to educate her how to have a proper Japanese breakfast. Would never stay here again. Also ironic that we had to pay the onsen tax when we couldn't use the onsen because it was too hot.

Older inn with great food and own onsen
Older lodgings, but food was excellent - filling meals with a great variety of items. Located right in the heart of Yunomine Onsen. Onsen was great - could use an update, but clean, hot and open all night. Hosts were friendly and enthusiastic, and enjoyed helping visitors with Japanese etiquette. Rooms small but adequate.

Wonderful service
Simple furnishing. No private shower or bath, but a wonderfully warm onsen after a long hike. The host was very helpful when I came in with bleeding feet - she cleaned my feet and assisted me with bandaids. It was also raining in the morning so we decided to take the bus to our next location - meaning waiting for a later bus. The host allowed us to wait in the front room until around 10am then she wanted us to leave. Understandable. We had a lovely onsen which was available to the public.

First day to the hongu taisha
We' ve spent one night in yunomineonsen at yamane minshuku. We' e been well received in the structure. The owners are hospitable people. The food is very good. I didn't like the toilet and the onsen. Especially the onsen is dirty!

Minshuku Yamane
We arrived a little early and Mrs. Yamane was happy to let us leave our luggage while we walked to Hongu, which we really appreciated. We enjoyed the onsen, and loved wearing the yukata ! Dinner was really delicious and it was nice talking to the other visitors. We had a nice big room and our futon was comfortable. Sharing the bathroom was no problem. We enjoyed the breakfast which set us up for the walk to Koguchi. A very enjoyable stay!

Pleasant and welcoming
This establishment seems quite busy but very efficiently run. The standard of accommodation and bathroom area is perhaps average in standard compared with the two previous properties but the welcome and sense of being looked after was equal. The meals were again excellent but my only criticism was they were a bit rushed. It is hard to savour all those beautiful courses so quickly! The host was very helpful though in showing us how to approach the different foods! Very close to the bus stop and very happy overall with the experience.

Couldn't be happier about my stay here
One of the highlights of my recent trip to Japan, Minshuku Yamane is something special. It's tucked away off the main strip at Yunomine and features its own fantastic bathing facilities using the water from the hot springs. The owners were incredibly kind and such vibrant, hilarious characters. The lady cooked up some of the best food I've had in all my trips to Japan, absolutely fantastic. Can't recommend this place enough!

I expected more
This was our second minshuku on the route and therefore we could compare. The food was good, but the room verry sober. No decoration to bring the right true japanese feeling. The bath is verry Spartan old taps, no shower but only a warm and cold tap to wash yourself. Not verry plasant afther a days walk. The bath is ok but old and it laks the atmosphere you expect from an onsen. They should realy invest in a redecoration and some shower facilitys.

Definitely recommend staying here!
The hosts at Minshuku Yamane were very friendly and helpful! They walked us directly to the start of the Kumano Kodo trail the morning after we stayed and gave us information about using the Tsuboyu Onsen, which is literally a one minute walk around the corner. The meals were incredibly delicious. You can't go wrong staying here!

Hostess is quite a character!! :-)
The hostess was quite a character, who shows you how to eat your different meals and replies to you in lengthy japanese answers when you ask something as if you understand every word (but she doesn't speak much English). The food was great and it is a lovely little town to walk through. Unfortunately the bathroom facilities are shared if you want to shower, but this is standard for all Japanese style accommodation. There are also no shower heads so you have to sit on a little chair and wash yourself from a bucket in pure Japanese style. The guesthouse has a lovely onsen (natural spring bath).

The location of this minshuku was right in the center of town, which was convenient. The owner, while friendly, was a bit abrupt in some of her statements and actions. When I asked for a small washing towel, she informed me "Gaijin don't like those." I had to request again that I actually wanted one. She made a great effort to explain how Japanese people eat things at meal times but was sometimes a little pushy in her actions. Having some written information to share could be a good way to support guests who are feeling a bit hesitant or not sure what to do. The bath was a bit old, and there were no showers to use for washing, only a hose with cold water and wooden buckets. It was cramp and a bit hard to wash up. The quality of the water was good though. The quality of the meals was very good and I appreciated the Japanese style breakfast.

This place is the best. The couple that own the place are so friendly, warm, and accommodating. The food was INSANE! The baths were incredible. My only regret is that we didn't stay in Yunomine for longer. I can't wait to come back.

Fantastic food!

Minshuku Yamane
This was our third and final nights accommodation. Unlike the hosts at the previous two, we found Mrs Yamane was a bit brusque at first when showing us our room and the olsen, but she become more friendly during dinner and breakfast. Their meals were very good. Both Mr and Mrs Yamane were very gracious in fare-welling us.

Wonderful first time experince
This was the first time we had stayed at a minshuku and the first time we tried an onsen (hot spring bath). It was a bit confusing at first. We were greeted very warmly, but because of the language barrier we were not exactly sure what to do and how the baths operated. I suggest a printed card in a few languages could be used to explain the customs of the onsen and the timing of dinner, breakfast, etc. We arrived just before dinner with just enough time to try the onsen first. We were give the traditional clothes (yukata) and encouraged to go to the bathes right away. It would have been nice to know the etiquette and customs in these bathes. Now that we experienced them I can provide a quick explanation. Change into a yukata, put on slippers and walk to the bath. There is one bath from men and one for women. In the changing room at the bath, take off all your clothes. Enter the room where the bath is located. There are usually a few others already in the bath. You’ll find small buckets, a small stool to sit on and soap/shampoo just outside the bath. Wash yourself before entering the bath. Find a space for yourself in the bath. Enjoy! When you leave the bath, wash yourself again. There are no traditional showers, so wash yourself here and enjoy the tradition.

Great location, nice service and meals
The host was very enthusiastic and nice to her guests. The house was very close to the bus stop, only 30 seconds walking distance. It's easy to find the location if you have a local map provided by the staff from the information centre in Kii-Tanabe. But the house has only one western toilet and we had about ten guests, so it's a bit unconvenient to go to toilet. Beside that, everything else was very nice especially meals. My husband and I had a great time there. Good for Kumano walkers.

Our hosts were very friendly and even came to find is when we were unsure of their address. Our room was pleasant and the robes a lovely touch for after our hot bath. The food was excellent and a lovely selection of local foods cooked freshly. We would highly recommend this stay tour friends.

Good minshuku
Simple minshiku in Yunomine onsen. The hosts were very nice and welcoming. The room was comfortable and clean, if a tad small. The batroom/onsen has seen better days. Although, it is understandable that the sulfur and other mineral as well as the high temperature of the natural hot spring will cause extra corrosion. The water is really very warm, but you can ""cheat"" and dilute it with cold water ;-) We stayed 2 nights and had a slightly different dinner/breakfast each evening/morning. They serve beer and local sake (not included in the price). Overall great experience.

Great location, let down by the rooms
Yunomine Onsen is an atmospheric town and makes a good place to stay after the walk to Hongu which is a short bus ride away. Minshuku Yamane is small with friendly owners but the rooms are basic and noisy. The Onsen is open all night so if someone decides to use it, you hear them walking past. There is a communal toilet area, not gender segregated, which we found off-putting. Dinner was delicious,

our favorite stay during our trip to japan
for us, yamane was ideal. small, cozy and extremely friendly. this is not a fancy place and rooms are very standard for a japanese ryokan or minshuku. that means tatami mats and futons. if you are not comfortable in that set up then you will not be comfortable here. it seems like people who review this place negatively have this problem. if you are ok with sleeping on a futon on the floor then this place is wonderful. the family running the operation couldn't be friendlier. the food we ate (both breakfast and dinner) was some of the best food we ate on our entire trip to japan (and eating was the main purpose of our trip). it is soulful home cooking by someone who cares deeply about food. i hope to return some day...

1 night stay in October
Its been nearly 2 months but I realised I must leave a review for Minshuku Yumana. The host (Ive forgotten her name now) was lovely and gave very good guidance on what we should do and most importantly how to eat her great food. The food she cooked was probably the best we had in our two weeks in Japan - and we had paid more in other places! Accommodation is basic but relatively clean, you cant expect too much for the price so we were very happy with our stay. Thank you so much and I wish you a successful future!

Wonderful time at Minshuku Yamane
After hiking into Yunomine near dark, we were a little worried we wouldn't make it to the minshuku in time. Luckily, the location is well marked and very close to the entrance to the town via the Kumano Kodo. The staff of the Minshuku Yamane were very polite and cheerful during our whole stay. They had lots of energy and we had a great time at our dinners and breakfasts while staying with the Yamane family. The room was clean, but smaller than the room at the Irorian Minshuku. However, this was still a much nicer room than some of the other place we stayed at Osaka. The communal baths were a fun experience! If you're particularly shy, this might be overwhelming, but all of the other guests we met were very polite as well. The baths are gender separated, but you shouldn't expect much privacy within the bath. The onsens were hot, and full of the wonderful sulfur smell we expected. The world heritage onsen is also very close by and easy to access. We enjoyed walking to the Honshu Taiga from the Yamanes and riding a bus bike later in the day.

Mixed feelings
Very basic accommodation. The best way to describe it is a hostel with tatami floors. The 24h onsen is fantastic but the rest of the communal areas may be problematic for some. The shared bathroom, for example, is unisex, with two urinals just outside the toilet. On the other hand, the wi-fi is reliable, and the meals are indeed delicious. Overall, I'd rate this place as too expensive for what it offers. Since Yunomine Onsen does not offer many accommodations, it might be worth it to consider staying in another town, making this one a mid-day stop in one your treks. At this point, we'd been travelling through Japan for two weeks, staying at a variety of accommodations (private, hotels, ryokan, and minshuku), so we knew what to expect. Far from being warmly received, we were greeted in a terse, abrupt way and shown around the guesthouse in a military fashion. Initially, we though this was because our host (the mother in a family of three) was busy with the dinner preparations. We appreciate that making these meals is time-consuming, so we understand if the hosts just want to rush the check-in process. During meal time, the host maintained her poor attitude, which cannot be attributed sorely to her limited English. I understand that these places receive a lot of foreigners, some of which need some guidance on how to sample the local delicacies. At the same time, I do not appreciate being repeatedly instructed that I need to ""eat meat now"" while the appetizers are still on the table. Funnily enough, the ""care"" with which the host instructed us gaijin did not extend to her clarification that the beer she was pushing on every guest with remarkable insistence was not included in the price of the meal. Though it might be standard practice in Japan, this was the first place where this wasn't made clear in advance (the onsen tax, for example, is announced everywhere). This was the first place in Japan where I felt we were being dishonestly treated, especially since the host left it until the last possible moment (which was around 6h45 in the morning, as we were catching the first bus) to demand payment for all the additional fees. We almost lost the bus. Why not do this the night before, since we had informed the host of our plans? After the meal was finished, the hosts did not reemerge from the kitchen, leaving everyone in the dining room to ponder whether this was really a minshuku or a regular hotel where you come and go with no interaction with the hosts. Overall, I'd not stay here again.

Second Choice of Accommodation First Rate Service
We booked this when our first choice was booked out. So pleased we got to stay at Yamane. Despite our limited Japanese our hosts managed to explain the meals, the room and facilities in a super friendly manner. The food was exceptional. Rooms comfortable. Onsen hot and delicious.

Hospitable lodging with delicious meals
We stayed at Minshuku Yamane for two nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Many thanks to the proprietors for their gracious hospitality and kindness. The highlight of our stay was the incredible meals served with care and nice explanations by our hostess. We enjoyed it so much we asked for a lunchbox to take away the day we left. The onsen in the minshuku is very nice to use as well, clean and perfect temperature. Our room had lots of natural light and the bedding was comfortable as well. The only problem we encountered was mosquitoes on the second night of our stay - good idea to bring mosquito repellent! Otherwise, Yunomine Onsen is a very nice and peaceful place to stay with good bus connections to nearby villages and towns, as well as beautiful places to walk nearby. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Nice place
At the begining it was a bit difficult to communicate with the owner. But finally it end up being super nice people. They don't speak English but still they tried to help. The food was very good.

Memorable meals

Feel welcome
We had a lovely stay at Minshuku Yamane. Even though we only stayed for one night, the host (Miyako-san) made us feel welcome. The 24 hours onsite onsen was great, and we had a nice walk around the Yunomine onsen village. Both the dinner and breakfast were fantastic.

Perfect stay!

The room was of average size. The bath was good. I did it alone at midnight (the minshuku allows you to use the private onsen whenever you want). The only problem (but I think it affects all the onsens in Yunomine) is that the temperature of the water was too hot, so I had to pour cold water for at least 20 minutes in order to be able to immerse myself completely in it (my girlfriend instead said she didn't need to pour cold water). Dinner and breakfast were good, but I'd insert the option of western style breakfast and not only japanese one. The lady managing the structure spoke only basic english and was a bit difficult to understand sometimes, but on the whole she was able to communicate with guests quite well.

Very nice Minshuku
The staff was friendly, and gave us useful advice about the surroundings. Food was good. We were able to do a washing machine - no tumble dryer-, with no extra charge. We had a lovely time here.

Extremely friendly proprietor! Probably the friendliest proprietor we came across in three weeks of traveling Japan, and the best chef too. The meals were all delicious and varied, and the proprietor gave us great tips about how to eat and what dishes went together :)

Great stay and fantastic host
We had a great stay at Minshuku Yamane. It is next to the world heritage onsen. Our host was extremely friendly and we had the best meal ever in Japan right here. We arrived earlier than the check-in time and she let us in to our room immediately. Unfortunately we arrived 2 days after Scale 11 typhoon, and due to that, the world heritage onsen was closed for maintenance. Nonetheless, you can still make use of the onsen in the minshu. The water was very very hot though, had to bathe in cold water before i can fully immerse into the tub completely. This is a beautiful place to visit, I believe even more so during Winter. Unfortunately i was there in Summer, hence cannot fully enjoy the onsen experience.

Outstanding guesthouse
My son and I stayed for 2 nights at Minshuku Yamane. We had a wonderful time even though it rained non stop. Our host Miako went out of her way to make us feel at home. Her cooking was outstanding, the most delicious meals we experienced during our entire trip in Japan. The onsen in the backyard is rustic, but very authentic and contained the wonderful hot, local mineral waters. Our tatami room was large and the futons comfy. The minshuku is right in town, but very quiet. There is not much to see in Yunomine Onsen, however the hike to Hongu on the Kumano Koda was memorable. A great place to stay if you ate looking for a relaxing getaway with amazing food. I will not forget Miako and her hospitality.

Comfortable stay
Delicious food, cosy room, good sleep. Very, very close to the UNESCO protected onsen and the bus stops. Yunomine shuts down at night, so it's a great place to relax. Service was good. The host is very eager to show foreigners how to eat the traditional local food which was appreciated. Note that there are no private showers here, so be prepared to strip down and bathe in a communal setting in a traditional Japanese bath. The sento is available 24/7 so there's a high chance you will have it all to yourself to relax :).

Love this Minshuku
We love this Minshuku. The owners were very warm and helpful. The food was made with loving care and was the most delicious meals among all places we had stayed during our trip. The owner also took time to explain her cooking and how to properly eat the food to foreigners like us. The hot spring baths are amazing after a long day of hiking and delicious food. We hope to return and stay at Minshuku Yamane again.

Very Friendly
This guesthouse is fairly basic but run by very friendly, happy people. The rooms are small but totally adequate and clean. We were told that the onsen is being renovated in the coming months which it does need. However, with the ancient onsen beside the river and another public one just down the road, there was plenty of choice anyways.

Wonderful welcome in Yunomine Onsen
This is a wonderful place to stay. Always a happy welcome from Mrs Yamane and her family when returning from a long day of walking or coming down for meals. The food is exceptionally good - it is a treat to sit down for dinner and enjoy this delicious home cooking. We stayed three days, and every day the dinner was different! We enjoyed the onsen too, excellent for tired bodies after long walks on the Kumano Kodo trails. The guest-house is not fancy, but meets every requirement for happy travels. We recommend it to everyone coming to Yunomine Onsen.

Beautiful by the River!
Lovely people, came to pick us up at trail head right away, and later, took us to the onsen which was very nice. We also swam in the river nearby prior. The rooms are spacious and clean; we slept very well there. Meals were generous and good. The toilet area was the only weak spot but not a big deal since everything else was super.

Nice one night stay
We arrived at Minshuku Yamane after a few hours hiking on the Kumano Kodo in an autumn-ish April day. The room was warm and big enough for two persons and some luggage, with a big window from which we could hear the gentle sound of rain during the night. The facility was overall clean but the onsen looked a bit old and worn, still definitely ok for a bath. The staff was somewhat rude at first impact, but they turned out to be helpful for example when they explained what we were being served for dinner (delicious dinner) or when we requested to have a take away breakfast in the morning because our bus was earlier than the scheduled breakfast time. They even took my shoes inside when I left them outside because they were muddy and put them back ready to use in the morning before departure! We also enjoyed going to bath at Tsuboyu with the Yukatas they provided.

Yunomine Onsen
The hosts of Minshuku Yamane are very kind and accommodating. The food was excellent. However, we had some problems with the onsen. Of course, Yunomine is known for smelling due to the sulfur in the water. But, not only did the bath smell incredibly strongly (and badly), it also did not have shower heads. So between that and the smell, it was hard to feel clean after a long day hiking. Every other onsen we had been to was properly equipped with shower heads so we were very disappointed. The bath also was not very clean compared to the other onsen we had bathed in. Additionally, the water closet is very uncleanly. Despite our experience with the bath/toilets, we did have an enjoyable time due to the hospitality of the hosts, but we would not stay here again.

Great Stay
Very friendly family. Accommodating us after a long day of walking. They were able to provide an earlier breakfast and bento boxes as we had to catch a 6:50 bus. The hotel onsen was good although without a shower so you wash with a bucket. Excellent traditional meal, really delicious. Room and beds were great.

Nice warm people run this place. Onsen is great
The location of Yamane is perfect to do hiking in the area. It is just a few stepsto the kumano kodo routes and the Tsubuyo bath. Food was amazing. Host is a really nice lady. Room is okay to spend the night and the in-house onsen was great after hiking.

A humble but very nice place. Excellent food.
This minshuku is simple but well maintained and well attended. The hosts are very funny and helpful, and while they speak only basic Japanese, they manage to explain anything you want to know very well. the sulfurous bath comes directly from natural thermal water from the mountain, it is really relaxing. The food was great and abundant, both dinner and breakfast (traditional Japanese breakfast, almost as complete and varied as the dinner). If you want to walk the Akagi-goe route, it starts directly in front of the minshuku, a simple stone staircase very hard to miss but the host will tell you the way.

A really good time

Wonderful traditional Japanese experience
The hospitality we received from Mr and Mrs Yamane was like being welcomed home by parents after a long time away!! They were very friendly, welcoming and happy people, which made our stay there all the more special. Meals were delicious, and we stayed two nights so got to try quite a few different home-made dishes, which used local produce. Room was very clean. We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a traditional Japanese experience.

Yunomine smells :)
People at Yamane were very kind and provided us with a warm welcome, but they have very limited english skills. I did not rate the meals even though we did have the meal plan. If you are in to the Japanese kitchen you will be fine. If it however not really your thing - think twice about the meal plan. The meal consists of rice, fried fish, tempura, a hot pot with some beef and mushrooms, a cup of miso soup, an assortment of vegetables (Japanese style) and tea. I personally did not enjoy (most of) it - but that is probably because of my personal preferences and not because of the quality of the meal. Therefore, no rating. The owner did however adjust the breakfast more to my liking upon request - very kind! I was able to get some fruits and yoghurt! Turns out the Yunomine Onsen are very rich in sulphur. Good for skin, bad for nose. Walking around town and/or when opening the window will provide you with a strong sulphur smell - not very pleasant. The location of this minshuku is good as it is not located directly ON the river, still, Yunomine smells :)

Absolutely lovely stay and extremely friendly owners
We had a great time here at Minshuku Yamane. We enjoyed a nice room, there was a nice onsen, owners were very friendly and dinner was amazing. When we we're too late the next morning to catch the bus to the start of the trail, the owners even brought us there with their own car (this saved us waiting two hours for the next bus!). Can't thank them enough.

Very friendly guesthouse
You are greeted with a very warm welcome by the owners here. She takes time to show you how everything works and explains the meals and how to eat them all with a friendly smile. We stayed in the room near the back door leading to the onsen and although a very good size it was a little noisy as you heard everyone using the sinks next to your room and the metal walkway to the onsen early in the morning.

中辺路を歩いて、本宮大社をお参りのあとに、宿泊させていただきました。 夕食の時間を把握しておらず、しかもバスに乗り遅れたのですが、本宮大社の近隣のかたの勧めで、お迎えにきていただけるかどうか電話したところ、ご主人が快く自動車で来てくださり、揚げたての天ぷらの時間に間に合う事ができました。 食事は非常に美味しかったです。お風呂も質素で、ゆっくりすることができました。 食事は全ての魚介類を抜きでとリクエストしていたのですが、エビが出てきたのでもったいなく思いました。 宿泊していた部屋は、夜に虫がどこからかたくさん入ってきていて、お布団が虫だらけになりましたから、虫が苦手な方は避けた方がよさそうです。

We spend two wonderful nights within Yamane Guest house. It was extraordinary. The rooms are comfortable, the bath is traditional but the best experience is with Mrs Yamane : she's so so kind and the welcome so warmful !! Fantastic stay at an historic onsen village, with on-site onsen and great hospitality
This is a GREAT place to stay! There is an onsen on-site which you can use 24 hr (I used it 3 times). The meals are sumptuous and tasty and the hosts ensure that you enjoy every byte. If, like me, you are a gai-jin, they will explain the ingredients and the best way to eat the original Japanese dishes (and there are plenty of dishes, all beautifully presented). It's a small, friendly place. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!

Excellent food and lovely host, washing facilities and bento breakfast not great
The meals were probably the best we've had in Japan, the host was very helpful and friendly and the rooms were comfortable. Two points of dissatisfaction though: 1. No shower facility to wash before using the bath. There was a tap to fill the bowl and a shower fitting, but no actual shower. Also the bath was often far far too hot to be usable without burning yourself. We used many other baths in Japan and they weren't as hot as this. 2. On the final day we left very early to get a bus (6.30am) and so were given a bento box with our breakfast in. Given the excellent meals we'd had before we were expecting more than the 2 riceballs and 2 pieces of tofu that were included. A disappointing end to the stay.

This place was run down and worn out. There was a mildewy smell in the room. As far as ryokans we stayed in while travellling in Japan, this was the worst. The door to the room had a window which let the hallway light in ( which was left on all night). The food overall was good. We were surprised, though, by the high mark up on the beer we had with our dinner.

We absolutely loved staying at this guest house - it was our favourite place in our 3 week trip. The family who run this guest house are wonderful and very kind - and the food is out of this world, just incredible. They even drove us to the beginning of a hikking trail 25 minutes away because the bus times were infrequent. The onsen is also lovely and especially good after a day hiking.

Wonderful experience
We wanted a true Japanese experience and could not have picked a better place. Yunomine Onsen is a delightful village right on the Kumano Kodo in a rugged rural setting and the Yamane family made our stay a wonderful experience. They were most friendly and generous in their help and making us feel at home. The meals are true Japanese style and we found them excellent.
