Simple, and in good location.
This guesthouse is very simple. What they call an Olsen is far less glamours and the shower is tiny. However, the owner was lovely, check in was quick and the place is very close to the train station. No view from windows and the room is very small. I asked for extra coffee for the morning and was provided this quickly without any extra charge. Nice, simple stay. Thank you for having me.

A Fine Place to Land after a Long Walk
Quiet guesthouse near the station. Friendly, helpful staff. They brought out newspaper to help me dry out my gear. A fine restaurant next door. The room was small but adequate for a solo traveler. Use of the private hot spring bath is by appointment and timed so some might feel rushed.

Great stay
We had a great stay at Oyado Hana, it was exactly as we expected. We were given use of the Onsen for 30 minutes, which was plenty of time. The room was clean, and a good size for two people. The staff reception were very friendly, and we could not recommend this more highly

Great location, super friendly service, clean and comfortable
Could not possibly be closer to the station, yet we barely heard a train. We used the bath both nights we stayed, super relaxing. Very clean and tidy throughout, we didn't make use of the basic kitchen facilities but the shower rooms etc. all clean and comfortable. Very helpful service with directions to a local laundromat for e.g.

Handy to Everything
This was a handy guesthouse at the end of our last day of walking, close to the station and very user-friendly. All very clean and nicely fitted out. Laundrette close by and plenty of food options. It was noisy though - thin walls! Once everyone had settled down for the evening, it was fine and we slept well.

Hana was a great host and her Guesthouse had a lovely feel to it. She was always very helpful and everything was very clean. We stayed two nights and enjoyed the local cuisine. We were able to store our luggage here on the day we were leaving. There weren't enough bathroom facilities for the number of guests.

This guest house is on the other side of the railway line away from the harbour. It has everything you need and it was a comfortable tatami room. The restaurant next door is very good.

A lovely little youth hostel type accommodation. The rooms and amenities were very clean and comfortable. There is a near by food mart and the train station is opposite. They offer an Onsen but we didn't use it. There is very little to do and not many places to eat in the town. We had the use of a car which was helpful.

Great Place
Oyado Hana is very convenient as it is very close to the train station, laundry mat, and all other things. Basically, it is a very centralized location. What I really like the most is I was able to use the locker before and after I checked in and check out respectively making it easier for me to hike and enjoy the place.

Near the station and good restaurants
It is a good place to leave your luggage, explore the area and come back for a good night of rest. The owners were so nice and accommodating. Just note that you need to be ready hauling big luggages up and down the stairs to cross the railway tracks and reach this place just next to the railway station. Nonetheless, we enjoyed very much Katsura for the wonderful views, the early morning fish auction, the fresh seafood and the relaxing vibe of the place

Central accomondation with friendly owner
Had a great stay at Oyado Hana Guesthouse. The guesthouse is next to Kii-Katsuura station which was great for us. The owners were super friendly and helped us picking out a restaurant for our dinner. The guesthouse itself was lovely. The room was quite small but that was okay for us. Sadly they only had one shower. Still we enjoyed our stay very much and would come again.

Perfect location after trekking Kumano Kodo

Clean, Friendly, and the Most Convenient
Right across from the train and bus station. Can't beat that. Kii Katsuura brings in more maguro than any port in Japan, making it a great place to eat sashimi and sushi. Recommend walking to the fish auction from 7-8am in the morning - amazing!

The location of this guest house is great, right across the road from the train station and within easy walking distance to all the restaurants in town. We liked that we could book a time in the private bath and that myself and my husband could bathe together. The owners are not on site until the check in time but it was easy to store our bags in the secure area until we could check in.

Good Spot
This place has an amazing location right next to Kii-Katsuura station. Check in was easy and we got settled into our simple room with futons. It was comfy and we had time to go around Katsuura and try some delicious tuna sashimi. While we found our area of Katsuura to be mostly a ghost town, all in all we had a good time and a comfy stay.

friendly guesthouse about a minute walk from the train station
This was a great place to stay in Katsuura after walking the kumano kodo. It is just over the train tracks from the station, only about 1 minute walk. The host was so friendly and helpful!! She gave restaurant recommendations, looked up the train timetable for us, and gave a thorough orientation to the guesthouse. i would highly recommend this guesthouse.

convenient location next to the station and comfortable stay
A convenient hostel near the station with a lovely young couple handling the place and getting out of its way to help, from suggesting an unassuming but fantastic place for local tuna to making sure our luggage would be picked by the transport company. We enjoyed our time in Oyado Hana guesthouse, although our room was very small and more indicated for a person travelling alone. In comparison with other double rooms, ours was half the size. The onsen was clean and well kept, although we had some problems getting the hot water running (it did not work for us). The location is perfect, just next to the station, and the service was good.

Very welcoming young owner!
Very sweet owner. The location was fabulous. I took bus from Nachi Taisha to Kii Katsuura, then walked above the walkway at the station to the other side of the tracks and the accommodation was right there. Easy and close to stores and restaurants. Owner also has great free products to use in the shower.

a flower themed, beautiful guesthouse & a journey never ends
the route from Koguchi to Kumano Nachi Taisha was definitely tough, especially in a never-stop heavy rain. But all is worthwhile and will be unforgettable forever. Oyado Hana was the last place to stay during my 4-day hiking. From the introduction, I originally thought it certainly was operated by a lady, who is devoted to making daily life and every corner of her house beautiful. However, there was the happy gentleman who greeted me at the reception. HAHA, a big surprise:) Then I was told all these decorations were made by his wife. He is an easy-going man and we could talk smoothly using simple English. 4 days' Kumano Kodo hiking ended so quickly. I returned to the city life where there is JR and 24h convenience store. However, it seems my heart and mind is still on Kumano Kodo, in the mountains and forests, between those giant cedars. This is a journey that never ends. This is a journey that calls in new ones.

Oyado Hana Guesthouse Kii Katsuura - rest days after Kumano Kodo
Very central right next to JS station but quite and very little street noise. The entrance and front garden is nothing like the website pictures and is a shame as a garden would have been welcoming as is now is used cars and less attractive and is neglected. This guesthouse can be reserved on other booking sites . Tea & miso soup available , microwave and fridge. No Meals provided at guesthouse. Kii Katsuura has an abundance of eating places to choose from and lots to see in this smaller town. This was our budget option and was Ok for price and was not the higher standard experience while on the Kumano Kodo route. I think there is now more accommodation options on the Kumano travel site for this town. While the guest house was clean and suitable I would I review/comapre other options if in Kii Katsuura again. Kii Kastuura is great base to go to Shingu and the peninsula onsens.

Super sweet guesthouse, personal onsen bath
I had a very comfortable time at the guesthouse, the room was spacious and the amenities were great. The service was very helpful and informative. Although there is an onsen bath on location I think it is best for only one person. Also, I did experience a strong scent of tatami mat in my tatami room. I got used to it every time I entered the room.

Would not stay here again
Checkin is at 4pm (later than any other hotel/guest house in the world. Tatamis are sketchy and deteriorated, towels small bad, guests can smoke in their rooms so it smalls like cigarettes, there is just one shower for the whole house, walls are super thin so you will hear anyone who snores.

Very nice guesthouse
after a long day walk we stayed in Katsura and this was a nice surprise. The guesthouse it was very nice (well decorated, a lot of space in the room) and the host was super nice. He gave us very good tips.

Friendly, welcoming guesthouse just across from the train station
Very friendly welcome and lovely staff at this guesthouse. Great hot mineral water bath and super clean communal sinks and toilets. Good location just across from the train station - perfect place to end our hike and get on a train the next day.

A Grande Finale
While the final day of the 5 day walk was challenging, how lovely it was to arrive at Nachi Taisha. Curious to watch other visitors who had arrived by bus "struggle" up the 100 plus steps to the Temple complex after we had walked almost 15 km. Easy bus ride to Kii-Katsuura. Very comfortable and spacious room; light from outside and some noise but we were tired so slept well. Good bath though times had to be booked, one at a time.

Located right next to the station this was a perfect place to end the Kumano Kodo. We had a night out in Katsuura eating tuna sashimi and this was the perfect base. Our room the ume-plum room was huge- more like two rooms. The bath was pretty good but not very ambient- there are brown minerals floating in it which take some adjusting too. Super friendly service and excellent value. Highly recommend.

Hana and her guesthouse are fantastic!
We had a very friendly reception by Hana and her little baby on a hot summer evening. The guesthouse is very clean with a special artistic flair. The on-site onsen with natural water was a very special treat. It's also located very close to the Katsuura station. We'd be very happy to stay here again.

The best host ever!
We are so grateful for all the help we received from the excellent hostess of Oyado Hana guesthouse! With perfect English she took a lot of time to sort out our luggage transfer, giving advice on restaurants, where to shop for food, timing for our hike etc. The hike would not have started as well without her friendly support!

An older accommodation a very welcome traditional Japanese bath especially after the last leg of the walk, the host was very welcoming No meals so we had to go out to a restaurant a first world problem admittedly which led to a delightful meal straight across from the station. Location perfect opposite the station so easy transition the following morning

Good Choice
Huge room and comfortable futon and pillows. The location is very convenient to the train station and you can leave your baggage in a locker outside the front door the next day. Excellent service - the host put newspaper in our shoes which were wet from all the rain to help dry them out.

Very nice, cozy place, great price and friendly staff!
Loved my stay in this small guesthouse located directly behind the JR station at Kii-Katsuura. Hana, the owner, was lively and kind to us, very helpful and on-hand whenever we needed her. Lots of free incentives to this place despite the low price, really accomodating! No meals included, but great restaurants in the area. I recommend the local Steakhouse!

Good location, comfortable room. There were many people staying that night, so we has to wait for 2 hrs before we could bathe. There's a Lawson nearby where we brought dinner. The lady running the place was very friendly and helpful.

One night stop over
Very easy to find and near the train station. Lots of drinks available for self service etc. Toilet was nice too. Decoration of the place was very nice. Good for a stop over. They have a locker outside which you can use for free if you arrive early or just need to leave your bag. Pls the house is filled with books to read which I really like. Other than that, I would say it was just a very normal kind of hostel.

Oyado Hana is a great find! I was very happy with my decision to book my family here.It is in a great location just across the train station. We really enjoyed staying in a typical Japanese home. Hana is a great host! She took time to orient us about the area, the restaurants we can try and her favorite things to do. My children enjoyed sleeping in the tatami mats and using the onsen. The bath amenities, coffee, tea and hot chocolate made available for the guests were very welcome touches.

Stay with Hana in Nachi
I had a wonderful time staying with Hana at her little guesthouse in Nachi. This sleepy little town is a must for people wanting to break away from the business of other areas of Japan. The room, albeit small, was perfect for my needs: nice clean futon, table to write on and the small TV with many channel choices was great for viewing with the evening rain outside. Hana was great at offering local places to eat and the town folk were most welcoming. The room rate was extremely reasonable and the guesthouse within a stone's throw from the station. I recommend going to the onsen at Hotel Urashima and taking the bus early in the morning to view the waterfall and walk part of the Kumano Kodo. A highlight in my trip! I will definitely be back.

Rooms are small and you have to ask for towels and yukatas, unlike all other places we stayed. The owner is super friendly and helpful. Place is very welcoming and clean. Recommended and Kii-Katsura is very lovely town. Don't miss the fish market and the tuna!

Cute Guesthouse in a great location
Guesthouse was very close to the train station. The host was very friendly and helpful with suggesting places to eat. The guestroom was relatively large, and TV was free. Bath had to be reserved at 30minute increments. Hotspring water pumped into a bathtube - spring water was brown, but the host assured us that this is from the natural water color and was not from any contamination. Overall, a great place to stay and rest after the hike.

Lovely house & lovely guest!
Hana Guesthouse is lovely, perfectly located less than 2 minutes walk from the train station (without bein noisy at all). A nice room, great bathroom and very cute house. Hana-chan is very welcoming and will help you feel at home. Plus she spaks English and is rellay nice to talk to! We spent 2 nights there at the end of our Kumano Kodo hike and highly recommend the place.

Lovely host and lovely room
Our host at Oyado Hana was so lovely and really tried to make our stay great. I imagine Kii Katsuura would be a different place in summer but in the middle of winter on New Years Eve it had a very 'closed' vibe to it. Access to the train station was great and the hotel next door had a nice onsen.
