熊野古道中辺路、高原。標高330メートルの雲海が広がる里にある「天空のさと山」は一日一組限定のお宿。
近隣で育った杉やケヤキを使った木造建築。落ち着いた雰囲気は高原の風情にマッチしています。
目の前には棚田が広がり、見渡す向こうには美しい山並み。素晴らしい自然を楽しめる安らぎのひと時を旅の仲間とお楽しみください。
水は谷の水（保健所検査済）を使用しており、冷たくて美味しいこの高原の水を汲んで持ち帰るお客様もおられます。

Great experience at Takahara
Our first night on the Kumano Kodo was a great experience. We received a warm welcome from our lovely host and after showers and tea, enjoyed the stunning views across the mountain range. We had a sensational home cooked meal before our host left for the evening. In the morning we were able to cook a lovely breakfast and pack a lunch for the day ahead. Wonderful place to stay!

Very comfortable, friendly service, great food
Whilst we didn't initially notice it, they had left instructions on the door for us if we arrived ahead of the checkin time which was nice. It was quite windy the night we were there and the windows make a bit of noise in the wind but otherwise very comfortable room, super clean shower facilities. Meals were great very good, just held back a touch by our skills and experience in managing cooking the wonderful platter of fresh seafood and vegetables on the hot coals

Nice view, quiet surroundings
We had the whole house to ourselves, the other two rooms were not occupied. No staff at night. A polite and kind Japanese lady came over to prepare Japanese dinner for us.She stayed at Tanabe. Breakfast was DIY with bread, eggs and ham.

Amazing!
This property is beautiful and very comfortable. The location and view of the mountain range is magical. Our supper was a beautifully presented bento box which was a piece of art and too beautiful to eat. The breakfast staples were plentiful and the host lovely. Highly recommend.

Spacious guesthouse with great view

Lovely Private Home
This was a lovely traditional Japanese home which we had to ourselves. It looked out over the valley and the village was very peaceful. The owner (Kyoko?) made us a traditional dinner and then she left. We had the place to ourselves to relax after our first day of hiking. She gave us instructions to make our own breakfast with ham, eggs, bread, bananas, etc. We kind of liked making our own breakfast and packed lunch as it was less formal than having someone serve us!

Absolutely amazing view with a fantastic meal
After a tough first leg of the hike (almost entirely uphill) it was incredible to come across this little town up on the mountain. The living room opened up onto a fantastic valley view and the homecooked meal was large and made with care. I was absolutely blown away by the location and it was a fantastic start to the journey.

We had the entire house to ourselves.
We only met the host when we arrived at noon. Then they went out and left the entire house to us (there was no other guest on that day). Late afternoon, there was a lady whose duty was to prepare us the dinner. It might have taken her two hours to finish. Then she also went back home. The dinner was good. As for breakfast, the host had arranged the bread and jams for us to help ourselves. It was a simple breakfast.

Fantastic homestay with great views
We loved staying in Tenku-no-Satoyama. Our host was very welcoming and helpful. The house is charming and beautiful. We had it all to ourselves! And our dinner cooked from scratch by our host was delicious. Highly recommended

The best place we have ever stayed
Truly magical place. Location for the Kumano Kodo trail is perfect, the views were simply spectacular. Home cooked meal by a welcoming and incredibly friendly host- which was also one of the best meals we have had in Japan. We hope to one day return if we are lucky enough. What a great place to wake up on your birthday

Highlight of the trip!
Tenku-no-Satoyama was an incredibly beautiful mountainside home, warm and cozy inside with incredible views of the valley. Our room was very comfortable, and a nice hot shower was much appreciated after a big walk. Our host was so kind and prepared a delicious dinner and left plenty of food for breakfast in the morning. Highly recommend!

Beautifully kept with stunning views and great location. We had a little trouble finding the accommodation because we missed the sign. The weather was very hot and humid and one room didn't have air-con. Bento box dinner was very nice and the fridge and kitchen were generously stocked for us, with invitation to take what we wanted for lunch. Lovely friendly hosts.

Beautiful house in the beautiful village of Takahara
This Guesthouse isn't far from the rest area and is a beautiful house with a well-stocked kitchen and a great bath. The toilet is western and I was provided with all the amenities I needed. It even had a TV. It was such a beautiful house and the lady who owned it was very welcoming. The view was amazing at sunset and viewing the morning mist hanging in the valley below. It was close enough to get back on the trail for an early start. I had a wonderful time.

Meditative and scenic lodge
One of the best spots we’ve stayed on the Kumano Kodo trail. House sits along the hills with unblocked views, and has all the facilities you would need, and more (large living area, outdoor seating).

囲炉裏があり とても景色も良いお部屋で雰囲気もありよかったです。 残念だったのはタオルの柔軟剤の匂い そして朝食でした。 自然や豊かな場所だからこそ 環境に優しい洗剤など使って欲しいし 朝食も普通のスーパーで買えるようなパン 牛乳、チーズなどで たくさんの量はありましたが せっかくの自然豊かな場所なので 量は少なくてもオーガニックのものなど用意があれば嬉しかったなと思いました。 また、予約の際にそのような食事の提供と案内が有れば食事なしにしたのかなとも思います。 フルーツを置いてくださったのはよかったです。

Stunning views, comfortable house and wonderful host
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The view is exceptional and the whole town is breathtaking. Well worth the visit. Our host left us to enjoy the evening in her beautiful house after cooking us a really wonderful meal. She left us enough supplies in the fridge to take care of breakfast and lunch the next morning. It was a really relaxing stay with everything we needed.

Great stay in Takahara
We really enjoyed our one-night stay here. It is a really nice rental house with a beautiful view. It has lots of space and is nicely appointed. The lady running it was wonderful and cooked a delicious dinner for us before leaving for the evening. The refrigerator was stocked with food to prepare ourselves for breakfast and a bento box lunch for the trail. I would gladly stay again.

Traditional Japanese house with a dream view
Tenku-no-Satoyama felt like a home away from home: we were warmly welcomed with a table full of homemade Japanese meals, a heated kotatsu table, and futons ready for a good night's sleep. The house is located on the edge of the peaceful valley of the mist with a great view of mountains, sunset, and mist.

really cool traditional home with amazing views
It was so cool to stay in this traditional Japanese home! The host served us an amazing dinner and left plenty of things for us to eat in the morning. The house was beautiful and the view unbelievable. It was pretty easy to find and right off the trail. The bathroom was basic but with a nice deep tub big enough for two. I removed one star because futons were a bit thin--but we were still comfortable and glad we stayed there!

Springtime Trip for a Couple
Loved the views and having the house to ourselves. So close to the Nakahechi trail, too. Delicious food. The ぶり was incredible! There was a big spider in our bedroom that we captured and three outside. Then we noticed some spiderwebs here and there in the house, so cleaner rooms and dishes would've been nice. Still, we had a great time.

A beautiful house with a beautiful view
Tenku-no-Satoyama is a beautiful guesthouse, very clean and it has a great backyard with tables and benches where we could relax and enjoy the gorgeous view. We arrived 1h30 earlier than what we planned, but the lady who was already preparing our supper, although she seemed a little bit worried we were already there, was very kind, and made us feel very comfortable. We didn't see the nice lady anymore before we left, so we had no opportunity to thank her for the delicious home food she prepared and to tell that her misso soup was the best ever.

Nice homestay.
This is a home stay. When I arrived my dinner was being set out, I was shown where the rice cooker and kettle were located and how to heat up my miso soup. There was plenty of food (which was nice after the day's hike). I was shown where all the components of breakfast were located and then the host left and I had the house to myself to rest, relax, take a lovely, warm shower, etc. Good wifi. Standard futon on a tatami mat with a very efficient heater, so I was nice and toasty warm. It's very quiet and remote. In the morning I ate and was back on the Kumano in no time. Plan on getting lunch at the Michi-no-Eki rest area.

The house is great, and the hosts too ! The house is so nice, there is a wonderful view on the mountains, the rooms are confortable... We were very well welcomed by our hosts. They drived us to the grocery store, and gave advices on the local food. They were very nice and friendly. The house is a great place to relax after a good walk. The only regret was to leave and not spend more time there.

Incredibly Beautiful & Friendly Couple
This was the most gorgeous place we stayed the entire trip. We thought it would be a basic cabin but it was actually a gorgeous guesthouse overlooking the mountains. The grocery store the family drives you to is also much more developed than I realized and had all the items you could possibly want. The kitchen is fully equipped and you can make anything you like. There was also complementary coffee and tea. This was my favorite part of the trip!

Great place to stay with a terrific view!
We had a wonderful stay at this traditional Japanese style house. after arrival, the host took us to the grocery store for shopping for dinner and breakfast, which was a very nice experience. After that, we spent a long time sitting on the tatami mats, just looking out the window at the marvelous mountain scenery.

Gorgeous and huge house, great hosts!
We had a lovely stay at Tenku-no-Satoyama. The house is big and clean and has all the needed amnesties. Make sure you bring some supplies with you. There's a fully functional kitchen at the house if you want to cook.

Fantastic!
The guesthouse was absolutely gorgeous, in an amazing location. Being driven to the shop and buying our own food for dinner and breakfast was not an issue at all, and actually quite a fun experience. Sitting out overlooking the valley at sunset with an asahi was the perfect end to our first day on the Kumano Kodo trail.

JUST PEFECTION!
WOW. What can I say, this place is incredible. Probably the best place I have ever stayed in the world. The house is beautiful, the owner is so friendly and helpful and took us to buy food and helped us arrange baggage collection which we hadn't organised in advance. The location is incredible, we just sat and chilled for hours looking at the view.

This was definitely our favourite accommodation during our Kumano Kodo trip. The location is perfect, just a few minutes from the trail, the view is stunning and the host is extremely nice. I loved this home!
Before I knew it was where I was staying, I stopped to take a picture of this place! It is really beautiful and located right on a mountainside with a panoramic view of more mountains. There isn’t much to do, but watching the sunset and taking a long bath was quite enough for me. The host is super sweet and gave me a nice tour, as well.

Simply amazing!
The questhouse was beautiful and clean, and the owner was so kind and lovely. The view over the mountains was dreamy and breathtaking, and overall the whole experience was the best possible start for our Kumano Kodo hike. Couldn't have hoped for a better place to stay. We had a lovely stay at Tenku-no-Satayama. The view is really stunning and we wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy the surroundings more. We got a warm welcome when we arrived and the house was very nice and clean. One of the most memorable stays from the three weeks we spent in Japan. Highly recommend to go!

Very beautiful mountain retreat
Beautiful house and perfect stop along the way for those people hiking the kumano kodo. While there were no meals, the family drove us to the grocery store to stock up on food. Only two of us stayed here, but it would easily accommodate a large group

Great Sceneries and Nice Place to Stay in!
This place was the best place we have stayed in during our trip, even though it was clear from the booking that they do not provide meals. The couple who owns the place drove us to the nearby supermarket to get groceries for dinner / breakfast. Wonderful Hosts, Peaceful Location
The manager and his wife were very kind, and the house was wonderful. A great way to start our trip, and probably our favorite lodging along the Kodo! If you are looking for a place to find peace and nature, this is it. We would rent this house for a whole week, we enjoyed it that much.

Our hosts have been very nice and helpful. The house is exceptionally beautiful, very big and perfectly clean. We were so impressed by the scenic view and the traditional Japanese interior. There was plenty of equipment for cooking, a washing machine and everything else we needed.

Beautiful house, great views
What a fantastic place to stay! It was just the two of us in this large house and we loved every detail of it. Somehow we managed to miss the sign and were already up the hill again, but the nice owner of the cafe Keyaki called our host and she fetched us. The hosts were very helpful, including a trip to the supermarket and a kind of cherry-like fruit as a welcome gift.

Tenku-no-Satoyama - Best lodging of our trip
We had the whole house to ourselves and only used the japanese style room. The house has a great view of the valley and the hosts were very welcoming and helpful. As noted, they did not have food but we reserved ahead of time to eat at Kiri no Sato up the hill. Wish we would've brought friends as this place seemed like a great place to hangout for a couple days.

A WONDERFUL Option for a good nights sleep!
This location is NOT that far off the Kumano Kodo, just down the hill a bit on the left, and the view is AMAZING! The owners are super nice, and live next door. They drove us into town to pick up supplies to make a dinner/breakfast because they don't do meals here which is the only drawback. But, the location is perfect. We loved the delightful dining area with heated leg warmer under the table. There is a washer (but no dryer) but there are floor heaters to dry off damp clothing. All around this was a great night. Note: we traveled with 2 adults and 2 children (12 and 10 years old) and this placed worked out great for offering some private time as there are several rooms in this large house.

Beautiful Stay at this Mountain Retreat
I cannot recommend this accommodation enough. The beautiful traditional looking house has a gorgeous outlook over the valley, it is quiet and relaxing. the owners could not have been nicer or more welcoming and drove us to the nearby supermarket to buy food. The supermarket has ready made delicious Japanese meals, so it is very convenient.

Lovely house overlooking mountains, very spacious and beautifully furnished
Our hosts were so nice and welcoming, took pictures of us on arrival after a steep climb up the hill from takjiri. The house is amazing sits on the hill overlooking mountains, could have stayed here all week. No meals provided but our host kindly drove us down the hill to supermarket and was very helpful with suggestions of types of Japanese food to buy for dinner. We were able to wash and dry our clothes overnight. The futons were very thick and comfortable, the best of all our accomodation during our 5 day walk. It is such a nice peaceful place. Wish we could have stopped for longer.

A good place to rest after starting Kumano Kodo
Tenku no Satoyama is a complete house for the guests. None a hostel, none a minshuku. The house is amazing, and the facilities are awesome. The responsible of the house was also very kind and her son got us to the supermarket to buy some food. Although all this is very nice, there a couple of things that could be improved. First, the location of the house and the absence of indicators around the little village. We've got to ask to some neighbours to find the house. Second, a meal included it is imperative in the Kumano Kodo. All the minshuku where we stayed had included dinner, breakfast and lunch. Tenku no Satoyama doesn't include anything. Yes, the house it's amazing, but if I repeat the Kumano Kodo I would probably stay in another Takahara facility. You can go to a near supermarket, but once you're walking is not a good option.

Wonderful place to stay
After a short but intense hike from Takajiri we were delighted to find this amazing accommodation waiting for us. A large, spacious, traditional farmhouse with incredible views. Superb place lovely hosts
It was so lovely here. The owners were very friendly and accommodating even though we arrived early. I was able to go to the supermarket with the host which was very kind of her and we had a good chat! The house is lovely and full of charm. In the evening we went to the Kiri-no-Sato for a meal and it was wonderful - our first full Japanese meal which the owners explaning course by course to us. The Futons were very comfy but the beds less so!

One of the most romantic places we have ever stayed
An absolutely gorgeous house, in traditional Japanese style, with beautiful views, all just to ourselves!! And it is very big. It was our 10-year anniversary holiday and it definitely felt like the perfect romantic gateway. We didn't expect it would be so pretty. Our hosts were most helpful and kind. We arrived on a very cold winter day so they brought us lots of wood to warm up the dining room. We could watch the snow falling on the mountains. It was perfect. It's easier if you bring your own food as there isn't much around. But who wouldn't? With such a gorgeous retreat, it's much more enjoyable to eat in, make the most of the beautiful house, the beautiful view and relax. Isolation is the whole appeal. The retreat would easily accommodate a family and it would have been lovely to stay for more than just one night.

Great Hospitality
Service rendered was impeccable. The landlady was very kind to pick us up when we needed an early ride up from Tajikiri, even though we had not arranged it in advance. She also gave us some rice to cook for dinner and mandarins to go with it! (we were very unprepared for what to buy at the grocery store) On the second day, upon checking out, she even fetched us to the bus stop as it was raining. We are very grateful for the immense kindness shown to us and would recommend this lodge to anyone craving a quiet mountain retreat.

One of the nicest traditional styled lodgings and scenic locations
We really loved the views overlooking the valley. It is a place away from the main town, but thanks to the kind owners who drove us to the neighbouring town, it was not an issue. Such an amazing location.
The view and the hosts of this place were great. Showed us how to cook maron(chestnuts) on the bbq they set up for us and showed us photos and told us calls of some of the wildlife in the area. Both sunset and sunrise from the house were breathtaking and didn't even have to get out of bed.

Beautiful Mountain Retreat
This was our stop for the first night of our trek, and what a treat it was. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts and shown around this beautiful clean home with spectacular views. There was plenty of room for all six of us. We had opted for the self catering option and were kindly driven into town by our host to the local supermarket where there was a great selection of foods. Note to travelers! It is worth making sure you know exactly where you are staying as the village was quite big and there were not many people round to ask directions! Great value for money.

Beautiful rental house
First, a note on the booking: I found booking this place confusing, both because the actual price was higher than the website estimate, and because I didn't realize this is an entire rental house, not just a room. That said, the house is spacious and beautiful, with a gorgeous view, and very reasonably priced for what you get. The owners are extremely nice, and provided a ride to the grocery store, where I bought some bento boxes for my meals. Would definitely recommend the place.

tenku-no-satoyama was breathtakingly beautiful and a lovely place to stay. Its traditional Japanese style house with full kitchen facilities, privacy and wonderful hosts. Much better than expected! A full house for yourself with all the facilities, including laundry machine and soap. The owners are so friendly and drove us to the supermarket. The Japanese futons were so comfy, and the views from the living room and garden outstanding. Be early and leave late to fully enjoy the location! Beatiful location
Tenku-no-Satoyama is a lovely old-styled guesthouse in wonderful surroundigs. Seeing the mountains appearing out of the mists in the morning was particularly enjoyable.Our hosts were kind and accommodating - we had left it too late to walk up to the guesthouse, so we were picked up by our host in his car and made to feel very welcome.

A location with a superb view. It was a traditional Japanese house and I had it all by myself. The place was very clean and tidy. The owners, Kazu-san and Yukiko-san are both very friendly. Their English are not very good but they tried their best to make me feel comfortable and at home.

Friendly hosts and great views
We had a great time in the mountain retreat. The owners were very friendly and helpfull. They even picked us up from the busstation and drove past the grocery shop for us. The guesthouse was lovely. Great views and a nice rural set up. Very relaxing. We would have liked to stayed longer.

Enjoy the view!
The owner and his wife are excellent people and we could not have enjoyed our stay more. They were really helpful and caring. Try to see the sunset and morning, when the fog rises from the forests. We did not see anything like it again on Kumano Kodo.

Extremely hospitable, the host came to meet us as we came off the path from the walk, and brought us to the house in his car. He was waiting for us as it had become dark by then, it was evening. He was very helpful in the morning, taking photos for us - and also recommending we eat our dinner & breakfast at the lodge; the dinner at the lodge was THE BEST meal we had in Japan. A beautiful house.

Fabulous house with fabulous views
Great house with individual spaces for all 5 of us. Traditional hearth and tatami rooms. There is a central kotatsu table (low, wooden table covered by a heavy blanket with underneath heat source overlooking the great view of the mountains. There is also a normal height kitchen table with chairs if you have trouble sitting on the floor. Yukiko-san gave us a lovely reception and took us shopping at the local A-Coop supermarket and gave us rice to cook. Lovely kitchen set-up with rice cooker, electric stove, toaster/oven and microwave. She also gave us presents of sweet mandarins and the next day mochi cakes to take on our walk! Best sleep after the uphill walk for the 1st day of our walk. No signpost to the house but if you get a local map from the tourist information centre from KiiTanabe before catching the bus to Takajiri and walking to Takahara, it is easy to find. I also looked at the house images on the internet too!

Beautiful stylish home with panoramic views
No meals, but I arrived and was lucky to be the only guest in the 3 bedroom house. Spectacular views of the valley and so beautifully decorated, I felt it looked like a magazine. Thank you for such a beautiful place.

Fantastic view of the mountains
Mrs Oku was very welcoming and the cosy, warm rooms were a relief after a wet (but short) day of climbing. She also found out that we had no breakfast the next morning so she offered us rice, cabbage, ham, and home-pickled ume to make onigiris with. We had the entire rental house to ourselves during the stay, and I wish we had longer because the views of the nearby mountains were gorgeous. Reading in a heated room with huge glass windows overlooking the valley would be truly amazing.

the owners were extremely helpful and friendly- the accmmodation is traditional style and beatuifully maintained. The owners kept it warm given the cold weather- it was spacious, clean, with full kitchen facilities. The owners also rpovided transportation to teh local shop given no meal plan accompanied the facility. We were delighted with the place.

Super Nice Stay
We really love the stay at Tenku-no-Satoyama. In fact this is the best throughout all my stay in Japan. Although no meal provided but we were able to cook our own meal using the facilities provided in the kitchen. The owners are friendly and helpful. They tried to understand us despite we had communication problem. Highly recommend to stay here.

MAGICAL view!
This was the highlight of our Kumano Kodo trip! The view was amazing in the afternoon with what looked like endless layers of mountains after mountains in the distance. Then there was low hanging fog/cloud between the layers in the mountains in the morning and it was just magical! The hosts were absolutely lovely and the beautiful house is equipped with everything you need even in the kitchen. He drove us to the local supermarket where we bought delicious local grown veggies (never had such beautiful and large shiitake mushrooms, tomatoes and the tastiest mandarines!) and we cooked our own meals. The host even dropped by to share some of their beautifully home cooked dinner with us too!!

Spacious accomodation
Very friendly owner who provided us a shuttle to the local super market as there were no meals provided. The room (or rather the rooms) were super spacious and there was even a whole kitchen we could use.

A beautiful retreat
This beautiful home on the mountainside was a delight for us all. We were met by Mr. Oku who was extremely congenial; he made us feel immediately at home and took us to the local store to buy ingredients for dinner. Mrs. Oku couldn't have been more helpful showing us the kitchen and even offering to cook the food for us. We were thrilled by the authenticity of the house and location and it was a wonderful experience made even more memorable by the kindness of the hosts.

Unforgettable place
We were absolutely thrilled with this place. The house was huge, beautifully maintained and had all the amenities we could ask for. The location and view were spectacular. The owner Yukiko was friendly, helpful and helped make our stay a memorable one. The lack of meals was not an issue as she drove us into town to get groceries and provided a bag of rice. The kitchen was also fully equipped. Definitely one of the highlights of the trek.

'What a view!', indeed!
Warm welcome and an amazing location. It is a whole house to yourself - if you can do without the meal plan this is the place to stay! You have a full kitchen at your disposal and the owner will offer to drive you down to the local supermarket to get your supplies. Very kind people! The bed however are very thin and a little uncomfortable (the house offers both Japanese style and Western style beds), also the bedrooms do not have curtains,... but you will be getting up early for the hike anyway. ;)

Lovely retreat in the mountains
Beautiful house in a magnificent location with super friendly hosts. No meals are provided but we just walked up the hill to the Lodge for dinner and breakfast so it wasn't an issue at all. You just need to make sure you make a booking at the Lodge. My only regret is that I didn't go up to the Lodge to use the onsen when our hosts suggested this. At the time I was more than happy to soak up the magnificent view at the house.

Gorgeous mountain retreat with best view!
We loved the mountain retreat! it is a beautifull open house with all comfort you can wish for! The view is amazing and the location is perfect. The most memorable of our time at the mountain retreat was the warm welcome and the contact with the owners. Tenku-no-Satoyama
Doing the walk alone, I would have preferred to stay at Kiri-no-sato to see more people and not having to cook my evening meal! That being said, the Tenku-no-Satoyama is really very confortable and extremely well-equipped and the owners were really very attentive and friendly. ""Grand-papa"" gave me a tour of the village and presented me to some of the neighbours, and his wife could not resist sharing some of their dinner dishes in the evening. As for the general location, I felt that Takahara was probably a bit too close from Takijiri-Oji (I arrived there in the early afternoon, having taken a cab from the airport to avoid the long wait for the bus) but at the same time it would have been too much to walk all the way to Nonaka on the same day.
