Seamless, efficient service
We only realised on the morning of our trip that we needed one extra piece of luggage to be picked up and this was accepted by the luggage transport service, with payment later made through Kumano Travel. All our luggage arrived on time at our accommodation in good condition, and was transported daily, which allowed us to enjoy our trek fully as we did not have to bring additional clothes and items needed for an overnight stay while hiking.

Very efficient. While in Chikatsyu we realised we had forgotten to book luggage shuttle for the return from Yunomine Onsen back to Ki Tanabe. Hikyaku Maruo made efforts to solve this problem for us but were unable to as its peak season. Kumano Travel may want to remind guests about luggage return to Ki Tanabe, particularly at times when the buses are full.

Found us at bus station
We thought there might be a drop off station at the visitor center, but there was not. Turned out it wasn't a problem as the driver was able to find us waiting at the visitor station. Easy. Items all got delivered before we arrived. Was worried about fragile items like a laptop, but everything made it safely.

Perfect. We walked light and easy (three people with two small daypacks, so that with trading around, everyone got to walk completely pack-free sometimes--though with such light packs it hardly mattered). The rest of our luggage magically appeared each day at our lodgings.

The luggage shuttle was SEAMLESS! Absolutely perfect. They even gave us a sweet welcome gift of onsen towels! Our luggage was small, but it was carefully handled and in perfect condition and always at the next place when we arrived. I was so impressed with how seamless the luggage shuttle was!

Great service from Hikyaku Maruo!
We were met at the station with a sign, even though our train was (uncharacteristically for Japan) very late. Our bags collected and all hotels confirmed. Our bags were at every location when we arrived, and there were no problems whatsoever. I highly recommend using this service when hiking the Kumano Kodo.

Uncomplicated, safe, we even received a small present!
Everything worked perfectly! The first night we stayed a bit further away from the normal route and we booked it on a different reservation number (from the Kumano Travel Website still), so I was a tiny bit worried at first. No need, though, everything worked perfectly for all 3 days that we used this luggage shuttle. There was not a scratch on the luggage and all our pottery that we had bought earlier was still whole. We even received 2 small towels as a present! We had not expected it at all and the guesture was so adorable, we love it!

Luggage shuttle
The company did a good job, but Kumano Travel (Tourist Office) didn't want to take our luggage and it took me a lot of energy to convince the lady at the office, that I already ordered and paid for the shuttle. Finally she noticed her mistake and our luggage was transported.

Stood just outside the information center with our baggage when a lady approached us with a clipboard to pick up our baggage. There was no other indication of where or how to identify the luggage shuttle. This part was a little bit stressful but we were able to get what we needed from the 7/11 nearby and also make our bus to Takijiri-oji once we handed over our baggage.

Efficient Luggage Service
Hikyaku Maruo provided an efficient luggage service. However, we were confused at Kii-Tanabe because we couldn't see where to hand our luggage to the driver outside the station. Our notes from Kumano Travel were not very specific, there was no sign, and the bus ticket sellers could not help us. Luckily, some fellow travellers pointed to a small van and driver over in the carpark and we rushed over there just before our bus was due to depart. The driver had our name, so we left our luggage with him just in time to catch our bus.

We were very pleased with our use of the luggage shuttle during our Kumano Kodo hike. The pickup and drop off was well communicated, easy, and well marked, and our bags were always there greeting us at our next destination.

So pleased we used this service
Multiple times during our walk I was thankful that we had used the luggage transfer service. The weather was very hot and we were always soaked through with sweat. Carrying our packs as we normally do would have made it a miserable slog. Instead we had light day bags and could really enjoy the pilgrimage. This service is wonderful, we left our bags at the accomodation each morning and when we arrived at the next place they were sitting in the room. So easy.

Basically they had a person standing in the Tanabe Tourism center with a nameplate with my name on it, we handed over our bags, and they magically appeared at each successive place with very cute wooden Kumano Kodo nametags on them. Would highly recommend them.

Bags were always delivered on time and in perfect condition. I learned that you shouldn’t leave anything behind because the service will make sure it’s delivered whether you want it or not. Which is how we wound up with a cup of noodles following us the whole way.

We passed people on the trail who were carrying their own packs--but we were so glad we had the shuttle transfer! This first day of hiking was steep and I would not have wanted to carry my pack up those stairs!

The shuttle did not arrive at the Kii-Tanabe station when it was scheduled to, but the very helpful staff at the info desk kept our luggage until they arrived so that we could get on the bus to go to the start of our pilgrimage hike. Our luggage was waiting at our accommodation when we arrived.

Worth paying for to avoid carrying all your stuff!
Very friendly, easy to spot when we arrived at the train station before taking the bus, loved the little gift attached to our luggage as well. Dont think twice- it was much easier hiking with just our day things and food rather than carrying our packs.

Throughout the trip the luggage service was TOP NOTCH and so convenient. Another group actually requested luggage service after having seen that we had luggage service. We never had any issue with the services and the additional wooden “Prefectural Pass” was a very nice touch to the service. It really made us think about the history of the region.

Our confirmation said Tanabe station whitout any time, but it fact it was planned in the hotel. It was stressful as our time was counted to assess the trail in time. The correction of the information in the e-mail would be an easy way to resolve this.

Great service but overpriced
Received the bag at Kii Tanabe station as scheduled. Service was great but I felt like I had been fleeced, especially if you consider the luggage shuttle for 1 bag cost more than the train ride for 1 person between Kansai international airport and Kii Katsuura, or the price of accommodation for one night. Seems rather opportunistic on the part of the luggage shuttle company, since I didn't have a choice but to use them, as it wasn't possible to carry the bag on the hike between Nonaka and Kii-Tanabe.

Reliable and friendly
The service provider was very friendly and easy to find at Kii-Tanabe Station. Our train arrived 30 minutes late, so he had to wait extra time for us to arrive. He did not seem upset by this. Our bags were waiting for us at our hotel that evening exactly as we expected.

Extraordinary service from a friendly man
Due to a mistake on our part we thought our luggage was being taken from Miyoshiya Ryokan and found Mr Maruo patiently waiting for us at the train station bus stop instead. He happily left the bus stop to collect our bags but before he did gave us presents of lovely bandannas - very thoughtful and despite language difficulties our bags arrived at our destination before we did. Wonderful.

● 当日のキャンセルやお約束の時間を過ぎた場合、料金の払い戻しはいたしません。
● ご予約確定後にお荷物の個数を減らしたり、搬送区間を短縮する場合、料金の払い戻しはいたしません。
● お荷物の個数を増やしたり、同一の荷物搬送業者にて区間の延長をした場合、発生した差額を追加料金としてお支払いいただきます。
● 予約変更に伴い同一の荷物搬送業者での手配ができない場合は他の荷物搬送業者を手配いたします。この場合、最初の予約は一旦キャンセルとなり、既定のキャンセル料をいただいたうえでご返金いたします。それから新規ご予約として新たに別の荷物搬送業者の料金をお支払いいただきます。

- ■ 宿泊施設への連絡不行届き等による荷物の受け渡し不可や紛失などのトラブルを未然に防ぐため、お預かり場所・お届け場所は熊野トラベル予約サイトにてご予約いただいた宿泊施設に限らせていただきます。
■ 予約受付は荷物搬送日の20日前までです。
