 概要

熊野古道にほど近い一戸建てのお宿です

Guest House Kiyohimeは安珍清姫伝説で有名な「清姫」の生誕地の近くにあるお宿です。また、すぐ近くには熊野古道が通っております。
ふもとの清姫バス停から滝尻王子まで路線バスで約３分、徒歩でも約20分なので、滝尻から熊野古道を歩くのに便利なお宿です。
長期滞在の方も安心してお泊まりいただけるように各階にはそれぞれお風呂・トイレ・洗濯機・乾燥機・冷蔵庫などの設備が揃っております。

Phenomenal dining and lovely guest house

Absolutely blown away with the cooking skills of the host. Having vegetarian food specially cooked in a country where it’s hard to find meals was truly remarkable. Someone give them a Michelin star ⭐️

An amazing place to start the Kumano Kodo

Hiroki-san and Naoko-san were very hospitable hosts and picked us up from the stop and took us to the trail head in the morning and were great at communicating with us!. The accommodation is new and very clean and comfortable. The highlight was a really beautiful dinner (and breakfast) served in a gorgeous traditional Japanese dining room with some other pilgrims.

Super comfortable and hospitable

The hosts were very kind, picking me up and even stopping by a grocery store so i could buy some food. The supper, breakfast and lunch they prepared for me was incredible!!! The home was very comfortable and the laundry and washing machine was a bonus.

Kumano stay

The only thing that stopped me putting 5 stars was that we would have liked to stay on the trail. However, our accommodation was exceptional. The hosts very helpful and welcoming, and the food top class. Like eating in a 5 star restaurant. Unbelievable. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Geat place, great host and great food!

Hiroki & Naoko place are beautiful and super clean. Our stay was very comfortable. The food was excellent, likewise with the bento box we got for lunch the next day. Host & hostess was very kind and welcoming. Thank you Hiroki & Naoko for your hospitality.

ありがとうございました。

女ひとり旅でしたが、ご親切に対応頂き、熊野古道の旅がぐっと満喫したものになりました。熊野本宮大社まで辿り着けるか少し不安でしたが、途中の路線バスの利用の話しも小耳に挟み、無理なく旅が出来ました。ご親切にありがとうございました。しいて言えば、もう少し日本人の観光客が増えるともっといいですね。

Hiroki and Naoko are very special people with great service and love for the guests. The way they contacted us by Whatsapp during the day of hiking and to pick us up after the walk is great. Delicious dinner and breakfast.

Guest House Kiyohime was a wonderful place to stay.

Hiroki & Naoko from Guest House Kiyohime were very welcoming hosts. While the house isn't directly on the Kumano Kodo, Hiroki picked us up and drove us back to the Guest House shortly after we finished our first days hike. We were able to get our clothes washed, shower up, and then we were provided with possibly one of the best dinners we've ever had. Breakfast and lunch were also delicious. The stay was traditional and comfortable- and I'm still looking for the body wash that was provided in the shower. The following day, Hiroki drove us back to the pick up spot, so it was as if we stayed right on the trail anyway. Guest House Kiyohime was a very memorable experience, with two really great hosts, a quiet neighborhood, and a comfortable room/bed to sleep in.

Friendly and spacious guest house and delicious food on Kumano Kodo

A welcoming guest house with spacious accommodations, home-made cooking for dinner, breakfast, and boxed lunch. Laundry washer and dryer worked very well. The kitchen was equipped with all necessary utensils and cooking facilities.

Amazing Service and Delicious Food

We were picked up from the trail rest area and driven to the accomodation. The little flat was very clean and comfortable. Everything you could possibly need was there. Dinner and breakfast was served in the owners home in a beautiful authentically styled Japanese lounge room. The food was absolutely delicious and very plentiful, both breakfast and dinner. We were given a large filling bento box for your lunch the next day. Highly recommend.

A Great Start to the Journey

Everything was as described in booking information or better. Knowing that we would be picked up at Takahara, we were pleasantly surprised at an early pickup. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable. Dinner, shared with several other pilgrims, was beautifully presented and delicious. Above all, the hosts were thoughtful and kind.

Excellent stay, delicious food

Loved Guesthouse Kiyohime! The apartment was extremely spacious and comfortable, and the food was amazing (the vegetarian bento for lunch the following day was incredible - some of the best food I ate in Japan). If you’re not good with stairs or don’t think you can handle them after the first day’s hike, then the top floor apartment may not be for you, as there’s a steep staircase it. The shuttle service to and from the trailhead works well, so there’s no need to worry about staying outside Takahara. Lovely, considerate hospitality from the hosts.

Great Food

The guesthouse has two buildings; we stayed in the annex and had a large, well-equipped Japanese style apartment. But the standout here are the Japanese meals, ample, with many delicious items and even sushi. The owners’ son is a professional chef in Tokyo and based on the cooking here, he must have inherited his talent from his mother. One drawback: This is at best a 15-minute drive from the trail. The owner picked us up but we did have a considerable wait; on the other hand he kindly drove us to the bus the next morning.

Quiet house with kind host and great meals

All 3 meals were fantastic. House is in a very quiet neighborhood just a 6-minute walk up from the bus line. You can walk to Takijiri-oji next to the highway if needed. Host was willing to drop me off at the Fugen-bashi Bridge for an alternate first 2 km of the Kumono Kodo.

Fantastic!

We cannot say enough good things about the Guest House Kiyohime. The owners were great to work with and communicated easily in WhatsApp. We had a top floor apartment to ourselves that was immaculate, cozy, and had everything we needed, including a washer/dryer to launder our clothes from a challenge first day of hiking. The meals were incredibly well done. The owners' son is a chef, and apparently got his gift from his mom who put on an amazing spread for all our meals and take-away box for the following day's hike. Would recommend having more than the 4:30 pm pick up time at Takahara. Would highly recommend this guest house, hands down!

Excellent host!

Hyaki & Naoko were wonderful hosts. They collected us early without a problem, and the room was spacious and very comfortable. There is a washer & dryer for 200yen, soap provided, and the bathroom was spotless with lovely amenities provided. The food was heavenly, a real culinary experience! They also went well out of their way to help us regain our lost luggage. They called the airline a few times and made sure it was delivered to our next location. These hosts really care about their guests. It is a short drive but that’s really not an issue at all as you are delivered back to the trail in the morning.

Amazing dinners. The best on the trip.

This was the first day stay, so I was a bit anxious as I didn't know what to expect. There was also communication needed to coordinate the van pick-up, however, there was no need to worry, everything worked smoothly as we communicated over WhatsApp. Food served at Kyohime was great, so much variety! Lunch box was great too. Loved having a washer and dryer available to wash any dirty trail clothes and dry items after a rain. Had dinner with other guests at the table and made great friends.

Wonderful guesthouse for the start of our trek

Kiyohime was the perfect start for our trek. The hosts are absolutely amazing, picking us up from the bus and delivering us to the start of the trail the next day. The guesthouse is not directly on the Kumano Kodo. The hosts cooked the most amazing dinner, breakfast and lunch packet. It is served in a very nice Japanese style dining room. We had a spacious apartment to ourselves with lots of amenities. We would recommend to anyone.

Day #1 on Kumano Kodo Trail

Our stay at Guest House Kiyohime was such a memorable and heartwarming experience. From the start, we appreciated the free shuttle from the rest area—it made our arrival smooth and stress-free. Our hosts were incredibly gracious and welcoming. We stayed on the first floor of the guest house, which was spacious, cozy, and full of charm. One member of our group, a big fan of dogs—especially Rottweilers—was delighted by the photos of dogs around the house, which added such a personal touch. The food was an absolute highlight. Every meal was fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared in traditional Japanese style. We were especially touched to learn that some of the dishes were inspired by the hosts' son, who is a sushi chef in Tokyo. You could truly taste the care and tradition in every bite. The guest house was well stocked with coffee, tea, and a hot water pot, which made us feel right at home. Our host also took the time to show us around the beautiful gardens surrounding the property, adding to the peaceful and authentic atmosphere. I would absolutely recommend Guest House Kiyohime to friends—if for nothing else, the food alone is worth the stay! A truly special place with kind people and a deep sense of hospitality.

Guest House Kiyohime

Our stay here was very comfortable and spacious and the meals were our best in Japan, in all the hospitality was unsurpassed. A wonderful place to stay and a truly memorable experience. Highly recommended for a modern rural experience.

Nice people, tasty food, and comfortable accommodations!

Everything was smooth from pick up at the Kii-Tanabe train station to drop off at Takijiri the next day. The guest house was comfortable and authentic, and the food was delicious! A wonderful way to start your visit to the Kumano Kodo.

Incredible food, warm hosts, impeccably clean room

We loved our first night at Kiyohime. The hosts were warm and kind, picking us up from the rest area in no time and bringing us down to the well-appointed and impeccably clean guest room where we spent the night. The guest house was large! Very clean and comfortable. The bed was so comfortable and was our best sleep of the trip! The addition of a laundry washer and dryer was very welcome. The dinner, though, was AMAZING. Absolutely exceeded all expectations. Perfectly prepared, fresh and plentiful. The breakfast was likewise delicious, fresh and plentiful. We had a wonderful stay here and highly recommend this location!

Incredible food and accommodation!!!

HANDS DOWN, the best food we had out of every place we stayed. I would say it is beyond restaurant quality. I would stay here again just for the food!!!! You also ate in a very traditional Japanese tatami room that was beautiful. Your accommodation is basically an entire apartment. The host picked us up from Takijiri (although he can pick you up from multiple places even Kii Tanabe station) and dropped us at Takijiri Oji, the start of the hike. He’s just a few minutes drive from there so very convenient. We stayed at highly reviewed places all along our trek but this place was the best in my opinion.

Good alternative for staying in Takahara

The "room" was an entire flat with spacious rooms and a view to the surrounding mountains. The hosts were very kind and served dinner and breakfast in their beautiful home. The meals were large and delicious and the bento was good.

Wonderful accommodation including a free transfer

We were delighted to stay at Kiyohime guesthouse. We met some lovely hikers who were also staying here, and the host family were wonderful. They hosted a delicious and beautiful meal, and made sure we had everything we needed. The host also kindly picked us up and dropped us off at Takahara, so that we could continue our journey. The price was included in the stay and this was really appreciated. The lunchbox they offered as well was delicious, and the breakfast was the perfect start to a hiking day.

Indifferent Host

This host seemed more of a business person, than a welcoming host. Communication for pick up was poor from Takahara to start with, following this, the texts from him were abrupt. His wife was more hospitable, but she did not interact with us much. We would not recommend this gentleman's guest house for this reason. We did not feel comfortable.

Very good stay

The host was very accommodating, picking me and other guests up from various locations. I accidentally left an item behind and he sent it to my next hotel. I offered to pay for the cost but of course he declined. He spoke English quite well. All of the meals were *excellent*. The room was very spacious - pretty well a full suite with a nice kitchenette with dishes, dishwasher and some food supplies/ condiments. Though everything was good quality, I still found the price to be a bit high compared to other guesthouses.

Great host and amazing meals

While the location isn't directly on the trail, the host is able to shuttle to and from the trailhead. I ended my day at Takahara ahead of schedule, and was still able to get a ride back to this location earlier than the planned timings by messaging the host on WhatsApp. The food served was amazing, and having a full apartment-like house to myself was extremely comfortable.

Flexibility pure!

I was contacted by the owner before the trip. he ensured that everything worked perfectly and i even was able to arrange the shuttle earlier than planned. Since the Guese House is at the beginning of the Kumano Kodo you need to book the shuttle...thats why only 4 stars :)

Aquí los anfitriones se llevan realmente todas los honores. Personas que nos ayudaron durante toda nuestra estadía en Kumano, y se preocuparon que pasemos una buena estancia, no solamente en su hermosa Guest House, sino hasta finalizar nuestro recorrido. Realmente da gusto y facilita mucho encontrarse con éste tipo de grandiosas personas. La guest House tiene todas las comodidades, es limpia, amplia. El anfitrión se encarga de recogerte en la estación de tren, y luego de llevarte hasta el punto de inicio del camino de peregrinación. Por otro lado no fue necesario alcanzar las valijas hasta el punto de encuentro de Kumano Kodokan, ya que también se encargó él de hacerlas llegar a nuestro Luggage Shuttle. La comida que nos dieron, que fue en su propia casa, fue excepcional, al nivel de cualquier restaurante de lujo, o lo que actualmente se reconoce con una estrella Michelin. No solemos regalar halagos, pero estas personas se lo han ganado con su trabajo, sacrificio, predisposición, y nos hemos sentido satisfechos por completo. No podrían arrepentirse de alojarse aquí. Great hosts, comfortable stay, delicious food

Hiroki-san and Naoko-san were incredible hosts! Hiroki-san was very communicative over WhatsApp before our arrival, and picked us up from Takijiri and dropped us back off at the trailhead the next day. The guesthouse was private, spacious and comfortable. The best part of the stay was Naoko-san's incredible food -- it was easily one of the best meals we had in the 3 weeks we spent in Japan.

Great accomodation

Host and his wife went above and beyond and we could not have felt better cared for. There were able to navigate our dietary issues with no problems and the accommodation was perfect for a family of four. The lunch packed was delicious and kept us going on the longest day of our hike. Would certainly recommend GH Kiyohime to anyone traveling thru Takajiri.

Although the location of this lodging was a little bit out of the itinerary, our host came to pick us up and brought us back to the starting point the next morning. Location is quiet and beautiful. The host offer pick up at Kii Tanabe train station which is very helpful to us. Two rooms in one floor which give us a living room and kitchen space. So comfortable to stay. The dinner was fantastic , tice ball wrapped with special local tree leaf, just delicious. Their fried chicken was taste to bite. The porridge at the breakfast was hard to find at other place. Very good one.

舌も楽しませてくれる熊野古道もあり

何度も訪れている熊野古道。中辺路、小辺路、伊勢路、小雲大雲と主は歩き。自分の体力不足や無謀な工程により何度も宿主さまに迷惑を掛けているため、正直食事は二の次、空腹満たされれば良しとしてきました。今回は熊野トラベル様で紹介されたゲストハウス清姫。いつものスタンスで食事を迎えると、過去とは違う宿主さまの意気込を感じます。出てくる料理の数々は宿主夫妻の自慢の素材を活かした逸品。どれも美味しくもっと食べたい品ばかり。宿主さまは田辺の食の魅力を話されます。話と味があっていて惹き込まれます。うん、田辺って美味しいところ魅力満載です。歩き旅に贅沢な食事は必要ないと思っていた私、考え改めました。美味しい料理を求めて20㌔歩きも１つのゴールですね。感謝。

Amazing first stop before the Kumano

We started here the first night before the kumano. We couldnt have whished for a better place and host to start. We were welcomed (and even picked up from the bus station), greeted with a wonderfull dinner. The lunch was one of the best we had during the track. He even drove us to the start of the trail which was amazing!!

My very kind host picked me up from my day’s walk’s finishing point and drove me back to the guesthouse (thank you!) I stayed in the upstairs rooms which were large and comfortable and included every convenience. I must mention the dinner provided which was delicious and included locally caught crab. Such a treat! In the morning he drove me back to the starting point of that morning’s walk. I appreciated the generous service.

The host and his wife were very welcoming. We walked from Takijiri to Takahara the first day and then took the bus to this location which was very easy. The host had also tried to pick us up at Takahara which was very kind. The host dropped us back at Takahara the following morning to continue our walk. Highly recommend this accommodation.

Great experience

Just a short review however had an absolutely fantastic time at this guesthouse. If I could give reception and service more than five stars I definitely would. The food was amazing as well and while a bit out of the way of town, the location was a very nice and small village near Takjiri-oji. Finally the guesthouse was so large that you have more space than you would know what to do with it. Definitely a reccomended stay if you are in the area.

The host was very kind and had offered to pick us up at Tanabe station. While driving he showed us the area and our starting point for hiking in Takijiri for the next morning. Although there were no buses at the time we wanted to start our trek, it was an easy walk from the guesthouse to Takijiri. The host offered us a bag of local citrus fruits which were delicious and so refreshing for our trek. As for dinner time we thought that the restaurant would close at 18:30, so instead the restaurant owner came to the guesthouse with bento boxes at around 17:20. By the way, the bento was exquisite filled with lots of delicious varieties, very nutritious, and what we needed for a good start of our pilgrimage.

    バス停降りたら国道から山側に分岐する道があります。（この道は熊野古道です）に登りきったら、集落があります。
    この集落のなかに位置しています。

    ・田辺市内から国道311号経由　約30分
    ・本宮から国道311号経由　約50分
