便利で快適、ゆっくり休める場所です。

事前に荷物を預けることができて本当に助かりました！案内表示も分かりやすく、早めに到着した方も先に荷物を預けることができました。チェックイン時にはスタッフが案内と説明をしてくれ、必要な設備もすべて揃っていました。バスルームのお湯はとても温かく、快適にシャワーを浴びることができました。唯一の欠点は、キッチンの床が凍っていて少し冷たかったことと、室内用スリッパがなかったことです。そのため、暖房の効いた部屋に食べ物を持ち込まなければなりませんでした…でも、宿泊施設の本格的な日本的な雰囲気を考えると、この価格は素晴らしいと思います！

Nice little guest house

Very basic, very clean & an easy check in. Mother & son team were awesome & very helpful BUT it’s Japanese speaking only; it didn’t pose a problem but make sure you get them to turn the air con on before they leave or you’ll be left to sweat it out on a hot box (the controller is in Japanese). It’s also in a great location & easy to find, very close to train station & buses. Definitely recommend.

Good for price

Host was very nice. My room was clean and tidy. It was a bit noisy as I could hear upstairs people. Toilet was upstairs that was not convenient. But this place was very cheap and I am happy with what I got for what I paid

Simple and spacious accommodation near the station

I booked this just to stay the night in Tanabe before starting the Kumano Kodo the next day, and it was perfect for exactly that. It's a short walk from the station, and there's plenty of great food options close by.

Wonderful Stay

The host is very friendly and hospitable. I was well greeted by her with the great smile. The room was spacious and sparkling clean with comfortable futon to sleep. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful and I get to sleep well at night after a long flight flight and train ride from the airport.

Basic but comfortable and well situated

A very simple Japanese-style room not more than a 4 minute walk from the train station and nearby many shops and restaurants. No meals offered but in Kii-Tanabe it is not an issue. Free tea and instant noodles available is a nice bonus, there is also a microwave available. The lady who let us in was friendly, English was limited but wasn't an issue. The room itself was comfortable, with an air-conditioner, however the one major downside is that the room is above a restaurant that specialises in fermented food. This gave the whole place a fairly strong smell of fermentation. You get used to it after a while but it certainly is noticeable. Shower and bathroom immaculate.

駅ちかでとても便利

紀伊田辺駅から徒歩3分は非常に便利でした。荷物を持って向かうにも近くて助かりました。飲食街のそばにあるので夕食時に食べるところに困らず便利でした。女将さんもフレンドリーで、ちょっとした依頼でもしっかり対応していただき非常に助かりました。

A killer deal in a great location.

Two minute walk from Kii-Tanabe station, as well as the bar/restaurant/-Izakaya district, Ajikoji. I suggest the the tempura shop for dinner. Host was incredibly inviting and lives next door. Rooms are big, and for a single person it's a steal of a deal. Comfortable and clean. There is only one toilet and bathroom, and a decent sized kitchenette. I was one of two guests, but if the place was full the limited toilet and bath could be an issue. The guesthouse is a bit small, particularly the check in and stairs up and the entry foyer, so difficult if you have hiking boots and backpacks. The pros of the location are also the con's. You will hear the trains running late into the night/early in the morning, and the bars can be open very late so some rowdy noise is possible at all hours.

Convenient location

Very close to the train station and bus station where you start your hiking journey, however do note the train noise level is quite high every time a train passes by (quite frequently). Prepare some good earplugs to muffle the noise if you’re a light sleeper.

Guest House Kumano

Guest House Kumano is exceptional value. Located close to the station and surrounded by restaurants. The rooms are large and have shared bathroom facilities. I enjoyed my stay there.

Basic and convenient

This guesthouse does the job. Its very near the train station, eating places and a few minutes' walk to the shrine and beach. Room is spacious. Owners are helpful and pleasant. Property gives you an easy, early start to take the bus to the jump-off point of the Kumano Kodo. Will stay with them again. Domo arigato !

Simple and Clean Accommodations

Simple and clean accommodations provided in a relatively spacious room. You will not want for anything however you should be aware: 1. You have to climb up and down a steep flight of stairs to use the bathroom facilities. Same to enter/exit the guest house. 2. Walls are very thin. We heard the sounds of a karaoke joint (?) and the thunderous chugs of the trains going through the town all night.

Too noisy for comfort

The guest room is on TOP of the pub and it proved too noisy to fall asleep. The noise lasted till almost 4am!!!

This was a great option for us! Easy walk from the station, close to everything we needed, easy to get back to the bus to go to the start of the Kumano the next morning. Vey comfy futons. Eyemask was useful as outside lights were quite bright, and earplugs are handy if there happens to be noise from the local izakayas - we always travel with both, so this was not an issue for us. Friendly and helpful host. Lots of places to eat and drink very close by.

Exactly what we wanted

This was an ideal place for my wife and me to stay before taking an early-morning bus to Takijiri-oji to begin our Kumano Kodo hike. Check-in and check-out were simple and easy, the location was very convenient, and the Japanese-style beds and tatami mats were quite comfortable. We would happily stay here again.

Very Accommodating!

The owner accommodated our unexpected early arrival and allowed us to leave our luggage while we did an overnight hike on the trail. Room was very spacious and beds were quite comfortable. Would stay again if in the area.

Good Simple Stay in Tanabe

This guest house is conveniently located a 5 minute walk away from the train station in Tanabe. It was a good place to stay before we started our Kumano Kodo trek; it was clean and had all the amenities we need. It's pretty basic with no extra frills, but it worked well for us!

Friendly and welcoming hostel

I was welcomed by the very friendly owner of the guesthouse who showed me around. The guesthouse was comfortable and she was willing to open the door a little bit earlier in the morning so I would be able to catch my early bus to start my hiking. I didn't sleep much due to some very noisy people in front of the guesthouse throughout the night. As I only stayed 1 night, I don't know if this was just bad luck or whether this is a loud neighborhood. But apart from that, it was a nice guesthouse!

Guest House Kumano was very comfortable

We stayed in the Guest House Kumano for one night before heading further inland to hike the Kumano Kodo trail. The beds were very comfortable and warm, the room was spacious and the bathrooms were clean. I would definitely stay there again.

Cute Little Room, Very Kind Host

Despite being so close to the station, the place was quite difficult to find in the dark by my self. Once I located the actual place, however, I found the room to be very nice. The bath and washroom are standard but nice. The host was kind enough to let me use her phone to make two international calls, which I very deeply appreciated. Would recommend as an nice, affordable place to stay before starting the Kumano Kodo.

Great place for the last night before hitting the Nakahechi trek.

Cosy little guest house with an adorable owner! She put a sign with my name outside the entrance door so that it was impossible for me to miss it following their directions from the station. Train and bus station are a 3-minute-walk which came in really handy considering that I took the very early bus in the morning to Takijiri-oji.
