民宿ゆの里は湯の峰温泉の約１キロ手前に位置する家庭的なお宿です。
湯の峰温泉の湯元から少し離れていますが、川のせせらぎの中でゆっくりとしたひと時を過ごしていただけます。
お食事は自家製野菜や天然鮎など地元で採れた新鮮な食材が味わえます。
館内には、ひのき風呂と岩風呂があり、また施設から道路を挟んだ川添いには貸切露天風呂もございます。
評判のお風呂は湯の峰温泉の高温の温泉はひかれてくる過程で自然に温度が下がるため、ほとんど加水なしの源泉をお楽しみいただけます。
清流を眺めながら、日頃の疲れを癒やしてください。

Beautiful Yunomine Onsen
Would recommend this stay to anyone. Good location (a 10 minute walk from the main area of Yunomine Onsen) but on the bus route. Lovely dinner, breakfast & bento box. The hosts were lovely, helpful & friendly. The onsen was beautiful after a long day bussing & hiking. The only downside was the shared bathroom but a minor detail. Therese & Pete

Friendly and lovely

Very nice homestay and worth staying for a night
The rooms in this homestay are very well-equipped and the space size is also very reasonable. There are two private indoor hot springs that can be used separately and look very clean. The portion size of their meal seems a bit small, but they will continue to serve some dishes later. Overall, it's a nice dinner. If you leave very early in the morning (I left at six), tell the host in advance that they will prepare the lunch box for you in advance. The location is very convenient, just a few dozen meters away from the nearest bus stop. The service is also excellent. They will help you get your checked luggage to your room in advance and introduce all the facilities, usage details and times to you. They have a dog and three parrots, which are very cute.

这家温泉宿的私汤十分舒适，还有露天温泉，让人十分惊喜！而且食材十分新鲜，接待十分热情。第二天一大早六点要乘坐公交离开，提前和老板娘说第二天一大早能否将早餐准备好，老板娘第二天起个大早把一切准备妥当，并且确认我搭上公交，还目送离开，十分感动。如何走熊野古道，或者在汤之峰温泉落脚的话，请大家来这里体验一下寂静的汤泉。

Great place, delicious food, super friendly hostess, and the outdoor onsen is a god send for our 3rd day of walking the kumano kodo! The onsen melted all the soreness away, while we relax and watch the river flow by. Dinner was delicious and so was the bento box for lunch the next day. The host was very kind and welcoming. Great home
The house location is good next to bus stop. The room was clean and large. The Onsen in house is great. The host， 阳子， was very nice and helpful. We left our poles at bus station and missed the bus, 阳子explained to us that the bus would return back and she walked out to the bus stop to convince us that the bus would come back. Yes the bus did come back. We are so thankful to her.

Cosy Little Hotel/Guesthouse
Great place to stay. In house Onsens and outdoor Onsen to use at the river. Dinner breakfast and lunch Japanese, delicious and very plentiful. Lunch bento box also very good. Great onsens and beautiful location!
We stayed one night here on the Kumano Kodo. The minshuku is a short walk from the centre of Yunomine Onsen, with a beautiful view of the river. The staff were very friendly and welcoming :-) The onsens within the minshuku were beautiful and an amazing treat after a long day's hike. There are three private onsens - two indoor and one outdoor - all of which are amazing and full of beneficial minerals, you could tell by the smell and feel of the water. Rooms were spacious and we were able to use the washing machine and leave our things there after check out. Dinner and breakfast were also delicious and copious. It was also great to meet the little dog Yuki. I really recommend this place!

A Beautiful Stop
We really enjoyed our stay here. The private onsen overlooking the river was such a nice treat after a long day of hiking. Yunomine Onsen is only 1 km away and can be walked easily along the road if you are interested in visiting. The location was a bit isolated as the bus has a very limited schedule to the area. The food and company were wonderful and the location was stunning.

Excellent location by the river
I really enjoyed staying in an accommodation with so many amazing Onsen. I really enjoyed the outdoor Onsen and taking a dip in the river with the Koi fish. Location was perfect, and the hosts were helpful with the bus schedule.

Another great place on the Kumano
This is a 7-room guesthouse. English is limited, regardless it was easy enough to negotiate the language barrier. The owners were very helpful, polite & softly spoken. Just really the nicest people. It also has 3 private baths & an open air bath. The indoor onsens are super hot so if you want to soak away tired muscles these’ll do the trick. It also feels like a sauna so twice the bang. The outdoor Onsen isn’t as hot but refreshing to feel the breeze & be outdoors. It is worth noting that in both it is strictly no clothes, so you’ll have to be comfortable with your own nakedness or anyone else who might be with you. The onsens get emptied and filled daily (well they did when we were there). Be aware that there are no ensuites and all the facilities are shared. Rooms are very basic but comfortable enough & the owners have gone to the trouble to translate the air conditioner remote control which was a bonus. We stayed in a Japanese style room and the futon mattresses packed away on a storage cupboard and it was up to us to prepare our bedding for the night which we didn’t mind. The entire place is exceptionally clean. We had breakfast, lunch & supper and all were amazing. The lunch however is a takeaway bento box & even though we had a rest day here we were happy with that; best to go with the flow. Upon leaving you are given a small gift to see you on your way which just goes to show the sincerity and beauty of this Minshuku. If staying here and you are taking the bus from Hongu get off at Shimoyukawa bus stop, (2stops from Yusonomine), the guest house is directly opposite across the bridge. We actually preferred staying here than in Yunomisine itself.

A great onsen and a wonderful host
The minshuku is a little way out of Yunomine Onsen, but it's close to a bus stop so still very convenient, and also very easy to find on foot. The owner of the minshuku is a real star - very good English and her attention to detail is awesome. For example, when we were leaving in the morning, she was worried that we were not taking the right bus, so she sprinted along the road from her minshuku to the bus stop to check that we knew what we were doing and she also stopped the bus driver! Absolutely amazing
We had an absolutely amazing stay in Minshuku Yunosato. The host was so nice with great hospitality... The meals were delicious. It is a bit far to walk from the guesthouse to the yunomine onsen at night, but there is a great private onsen at the place... which we really enjoyed. Very recommended.

Super cool bath and awesome food
The best minshuku ever! The minshuku has the very good meals and for the surprise it has 3 different onsens. We cannot forget the simple but delicious onsen-gayu in the breakfast. The owner cooks super good food. We were amazed by their preparation of meals. The minshuku locates by the river, so you can take a swim to cool down after the long walking day then you can go straight to onsen. We choose outside onsen just by the river. As it is quite open space, you can feel the nature close and quality of onsen water is amazing. We loved the stay there and still our mouth get wet when we remember the place.

Stay for a while...
Yunosato is set in a charming village, away from the (relative) flow of tourists, but with easy access to the Kumano kodo. Rooms are typical Minshuku, but with lovely views over a river. The village itself is well worth a look around to appreciate its beauty and legacies, and the difficulties facing villages in Japan's declining population. Food is excellent and varied from day to day so you can use Yunosato as a base (as we and a few people were doing).

Overall, I and my husband were very satisfied with the accommodation - Minshuku Yunosato, especially with our host, Yoko. I did not regret booking our 3 nights in her place, even if we have to get back and travel far. At the end of our day’s walks and activities, we always look forward to getting home to her warm and very delicious meals and spend a few minutes in their onsen. In addition, Yoko always surprised us with the packed lunch. She’s very accomodating and very pleasant. The location is just 15 minutes walk to Yunomine Onsen which is a great place to hang out, grab a few drinks and cook eggs! We are almost in tears on our last day as we say goodbye to her. I hope someday when we get another chance to travel to Japan, we will go visit her and stay at her minshuku.

Amazing stay
The amenities and facilities are a bit on the older side (toilet is rather old and crammed and the onset is quite tiny/dark, though everything is clean), but some of the most pleasant hosts and such an amazing stay I had! Location isn't located in the heart of the onset town, actually a stop away, but it was nice being in a serene part of the area, so I didn't find it to be much of a problem. Moreover, the bus stop right outside too, so that's not a worry as well.

After a rainy day of walking, we were warmly welcomed at Minshuku Yunosato. We appreciated the onsen after arriving wet and cold, and being able to use the washing machine to clean our muddy clothes. The food was great and catered for us being gluten free no problem. We were even given freshly baked gluten free banana bread for breakfast - very impressed!

Along the River
This was a simple, wonderful relaxing guesthouse along the river. The host was very caring of her guests. We viewed her stop the bus that went in front of her guesthouse to get a couple of guests off who she had viewed getting on the wrong bus at the stop across the river. She was always pleasant, welcoming of us with a smile, and joyful. Her meals were varied, plentiful, and always included a tasteful dessert, introducing us in many ways to the various culinary options of Japan. We appreciated the use of a clothes washer. The only suggestion would be the inclusion of a dryer as it rained and rained one day while we were there and the clothes were insufficiently dry after hours. We appreciated the careful awareness and response to special dietary requirements, particularly gluten intolerance.

Shared toilet, but private baths!
Meals were good, and owner friendly. Basic room and shared toliets. It was a 10 min walk to get to the main town and Ynomine Onsen. However, instead of waiting at Ynomine Onsen for a bath, you can take one for as long as you want at this guest house. Was fun to soak at a UNESCO World Heritage onsen, but was even better to stay at a place where there was a private onsen without having to wait in line! Sparrows were also building a nest on building, so that was fun to witness. Owner even gave us pro tips on where to get on the bus to avoid the crowds and ensure a seat!

Onsen Bath at my finger tips
Minshuku Yunosato, located near the Yunomine Onsen area, turned out to be such a pleasant surprise. I’ll admit, I was a bit hesitant at first because the place seemed small—but it truly had so much to offer. The shared onsen baths on the second floor were a real treat! We ended up not even needing to visit the public Yunomine Onsen because we had our own relaxing experience just down the hall. Dinner in the common dining room was delicious and satisfying, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. Our hostess was absolutely lovely—so sweet and friendly. She took the time to chat with us in the morning before we left, sharing stories about her children, which made the experience feel even more personal and warm. Breakfast was just as tasty, and the lunch she packed for us was filling and thoughtfully prepared—with beautifully decorated cookies that felt like such a special touch. All in all, Minshuku Yunosato exceeded my expectations. A charming stay with genuine hospitality—I’d definitely recommend it!

We had an incredible stay here. You can't beat the fact that there are indoor and outdoor Onsen right at the guest house. The rooms are comfortable and Yoko is a wonderful and very helpful host. It was easy to get to the guest house, a short walk from the center of Yunomine Onsen.

Meals good, the lady was very friendly and helpful she speaks some English. The upstairs Tatami room was clean. They also have a second Onsen across the road looking over the creek which is free to use for guests which was very good. Note that most of the ryokans in the village have a strange rull that even though they are not full they will only let you stay one night meaning that you will have to move your luggage to some other Ryoken in the village for subsequent nights.It was explained to me by the American guy working at Kumano travel that this is because they think guests will be disappointed if they give them the same meal two days in a row . Note there is a shop that sells not much and a bar with food run by an Argentinian guy in the village but not much else in the way of food . It would be good if all the Ryokens in the village got together and had an English web site as they can all be booked direct by phone if you can read and speak Japanese rather than the to and fro oh going via a travel agent and having to wait weeks to see if they have availability for one night then repeating the process for another place for each subsequent night

Tired old place with good meals

Cozy with delicious food!
Food here was a highlight in my Nakahechi trail, specially the dinner. Owner was very welcoming and made me feel right at home. Private Onsen was also a highlight after the longest day of walking. My only note for improvement is the room heater, the room felt a bit chilly in February.

Our hostess was lovely and welcoming. She was also very helpful with bus information. The 2 private indoor onsens were great .. didnt get to try the outdoor onsen. Bus stop very close to the property. Also bonus of a washing machine! A larger capacity to other properties we stayed during our walk.

A great stay at Minshuku Yunosato
The place is a few minutes walk out of Yunomine Onsen. We took the bus from Hongu and got of at Yunomine Onsen to take a look at the place. While it was quite nice, we don't think we missed much by staying outside. The place has lovely indoor onsen, which we did use and that was great. The room was nice, clean and comfortable and the home cooked meals were delicision. The next morning we took the bus back to Kii-Tanabe. The bus stops there first, then goes to Yunomine Onsen, turns back and stops by the location a second time. We took it on its way up and got more comfortable seats.

Feels like a youth hostel because the room is very small and the toilets and baths are shared. The onsen is nice. The house is located in a hamlet without any other facilities and 15 minutes away from Yunomine, which is a little bit livelier. Unfortunately the accommodation there was fully booked otherwise we would not have come here.

Awesome private onsens

Pleasant hostess

This was a great place to stay. There was a river to swim in and onsen on the side of the river. A quieter place than Yunomoni which was 1 km up the road. It's right beside the bus stop. All very handy.

A very welcoming minshuku that manages to feel both professional and personal. While the location a little south of Yunomine adds to already long day's walk, the peaceful riverside valley community rewards the extra kilometre or two. (A walk to Ukegawa trailhead not hard either next morning for those who wish to). Onsen options either an in-house near flotation tank-like private ofuro, or outside pool next to river across the little road. Both fed by Yunomine's mineral-rich water. Dinner and breakfast excellent and generous. Staff truly caring.

Beautiful new onsen accommodation
The host here is an excellent cook! There is a private outdoor onsen by the river which was amazing to soak in after a day of hiking. The room was spacious and the private onsen facilities were beautiful and clean. This is further away from the main town but still able to walk in, so quieter location.

I would like to come back again👍
The location of guest house is just one minute away from bus stop that’s why I chose it. And the hot springs and delicious food are healing my body from a long walking day of Kumanokodo, that’s the best part for the trip. Lovely Stay
I enjoyed my stay with the lovely host. The food was wonderful as well and the room was comfortable. The onsen could be used privately. I took the bus to get here which was easily done. The river was just across the street and the bus stop was in front of the post office after the bridge. Thank you for the lovely stay!

Cozy Guesthouse with excellent baths and food

My stay here was the second time, while exploring the Kumano Kodo. Loved everything!! The Onsen bath was a great relieve for muscle pain (especially after a long day walking the paths). Very close to the Yunomine Onsen. Very comfortable, relaxed and the food was also great!!

Restorative onsen magic
Another lovely welcome on our trail adventure with a healing and well needed onsen to revive the aching body. The location was a little tricky as bus services only run to 4:20pm and taxi's only work until4:30pm - we were exceptionally lucky as a kind gentleman gave us a lift from Hongu Taisha else we would have been stuck at 5:20pm with no way of getting to the location other than to walk another hour. The hosts were lovely and the room was spacious with lovely hot tea and the calming sounds of the river nearby. The onsen was the highlight and really does heal the aching limbs after a day of hiking the trail.

Can do better
Our last night of this wonderful trip. Guest house next to the river was nice and the onsen on the riverside was exceptional. Our host was kind and friendly. On the négative side: The meals were not very good nor enough nor well presented. Not to the level of Japanese perfection that we enjoyed in our previous lodgings. Overall quality was not very high. The room was ok but we were happy to leave this place. We were particularly bothered by two birds in their tiny cages, fish in a small and rather badly taken care of aquarium and a little dog attached in front of the house by a short leash. Animals have rights too and it seemed to us that our host did not care of the wellbeing of these animals. We would not stay in this place again.

・大日越で予定時刻前に到着しましたが、岩風呂と露天風呂に入浴させていただき、無料で洗濯できたのは有難かったです。 ・特に、川沿いの露天風呂には翌朝にも入浴しましたが、なかなかのものでした。湯の峰温泉中心部から少し離れた立地の利点ですので、もっとアピールされたら良いと思います。 ・食事は、地場産の食材を使っておられ、特別感がありました。ビールが大ビンだったのもうれしかったです。 ・宿泊室のコミュニケーション・ノートは良い取組みです。女将さんのコメントもあり、親しみを感じました。

Onsen with a View
Our host at Minshuku Yunosato was wonderful, very friendly and a fantastic home-style cook. The atmosphere was very relaxed and we loved being next to the river, especially being just above the river and soaking in the onsen. That was fun :). Yunosato is a bit out of town, but the bus service is excellent and there is a stop right there, so no problems at all.

Mildly uncomfortable
The host is a very kind person, helped us on a rainy day getting to the bus stop. The meals he prepared were tasty. Our stay was rather noisy due to a loud TV playing a baseball match watched by the host. The other places we stayed in were more comfortable, clean, accessible (location wise).

This Minshuku was wonderful. It is not in Yonumine Onsen proper, so don’t expect to be in the quaint old town. But it is across from the big river with a great view, and a riverside Onsen with Yonumine water. Two inside Onsens as well. The water was very mineral rich! The food was amazing. Delicious, fresh, abundant. We stayed here for two nights and were able to explore all around. Loved the stay here.

My favourite onsen
Lovely lady that is warm, kind & generous good cook. The outdoor onsen was amazing. Delicious dinner. Just be aware it’s about 800m from Yunomine Onsen (I hadn’t read the instructions before I got off the bus). Not a problem as can just walk down the road or there’s a bus stop directly outside their house. Was easy to explore Yunomine Onsen from here before getting morning bus.

Lovely staying
Yunosato is a very cozy guesthouse in a lovely village. The winter atmosphere gives an extra charming to the surrounding area. The room is very clean and comfortable, with futon beds, and the Onsen bath is great and very relaxing. Btw, we were pleased that we could have bath at any time of the day. Our meals, including the bento box, were delicious! The highlights were the nabe soup, the tsukemono and the strawberry cheesecake. The homemade umeshū and old umeshū were very, very tasty and delicious. We also loved the Onsen coffee. Yuko San is an incredible person and an amazing hostess and she made us feel so welcome and comfortable. We are looking forward to go back soon and meet her again.

Wonderful stay
Yuoko san was wonderful. She spoke enough English to understand the basic. She prepared dinner, breakfast and lunch in a thoughtful way and explained what the food was. She made it herself, even cookies and cake. The private baths with water from Onsen are great to relax after a walk. I'm very thankful.

An excellent choice in Yunomine Onsen
The guesthouse is a 1 km walk after arriving in Yunomine Onsen after a day of hiking, which feels like nothing after a long day. The guesthouse is very traditional with tatami mats and futons. It is humble, comfortable, quaint. The interior baths are simple and lovely. The exterior bath had significant mineral buildup when we visited but was ultimately still nice. The meals are elaborate and delicious. Overall the value of the stay is excellent! The guesthouse is just across the river. We woke up early and took a dip in the cold fresh water before the onsen and I have to recommend doing just that. The river is beautiful, cold, clean and an excellent start to the day. Follow that up with an onsen bath and a quick shower before a full breakfast and a bus ride into town!

Wonderful stay at Yunosato
I had a wonderful stay at Yoko-San's place. Her minshuku was very clean including the bath. The private onsen was the highlight of our trip because it was so relaxing after walking Kumano Kodo during the day. The food was above my expectation and we were also able to order draft beer, which was a huge plus. Her dog Yuki was very welcoming as well. She barked at us while we were arriving but turned super friendly when we called her name. The minshuku is right next to a river. After dinner when it was still bright out, we walked down to the river and dip our sore feet into cool water, which felt so relaxing.

Superb Yunomine Onsen experience
Minshuku Yunosato is the best place to stay when in Yunomine Onsen. The price is slightly cheaper due to the fact that it is just outside the immediate village, but the amenities and peacefulness are even better because of this. We were able to enjoy a private onsen on site (both indoor and outdoor) as well as swim in the nearby river. The food and hospitality was perfect as well as the comfort of the traditional Japanese room. Highly highly recommend this Minshuku!

A nice hostel with great food
Minshuku Yunosato is a ten minutes walk south of Yunomine Onsen. The place has inside and outside private onsens, ideal after a long walk. The meals are tasty and varied, cooked with love certainly (make sure to get the lunch box for the day after, it might include some homemade cookies!). Unfortunately, it lacks a big common room so I found it a little hard to chat with other hikers. Thank you for hosting me, wish you all the best!

We were touched when she personally bid us farewell as our bus departed for the next leg of our hiking trail. Great food & hot spring
The guesthouse provided very good Japanese food. And we even received cheese cake for the breakfast and were offered cookies to take away with as the owner knew we were going to hike a long way on that day. The private hot spring is heaven for hikers. We enjoy it so much.

Lovely guesthouse
Yoko was a delightful host. She was very helpful and welcoming. The meals she prepared were delicious and plentiful. The private onsen was so wonderful after our long day of hiking. The location of the guesthouse in the little valley was magical. We wished we had booked a second night in order to explore the area more. Her husband generously gave us a ride in the morning to Hongu Taisha.

Nice place

Amazing experience and amzing food
Stayed at Minshuku Yunosato on my hike along the Kumano Kodo. The owner was incredibly polite, kind and helpfull. The location is only a short walk from Yunomine Onsen and the guesthouse even has it's own incredible onsen. Finally, the owner is an amazing cook. I am usually a small eater but completely ate up everything that was put in front of me, which was a lit of different kind if dishes, in short, incredible. Definitely a reccomendation if you are in the area.

Good location to explore onsens
The guesthouse is helmed by a very friendly lady and her daughter. The room is not bad, but the bed was slightly too firm for me. The real star of the guesthouse had to be the onsen private bathrooms (with super-hot onsen spring water piped in). This alone makes me recommend this guesthouse, though it does feel a little like it might have seen better days. Nonetheless, the hospitality is great ❤️

Excellent stay
Everything here was great. The service was excellent and thorough. The meals were really good, served in the dining room. They have room for several guests, and it is well managed. There is an outdoor private onsen right across the street from the property which is right on the river and free to use. Very cool. Access was very easy as well. We used both the local bus to get here as well as walked from Yunomine without issue.

Good budget choice just outside Yunomine Onsen
A small guesthouse with multiple rooms and communal bathrooms. The onsens are very cool, and private (just put the "occupied" sign on the door) and food was great. The guestroom was basic and futons a bit thin. If I were doing it again, I might splurge for a fancier place right in Yunomine Onsen, since this guesthouse is out of town a bit--but for a budget choice it was just fine.

Wonderful + Outdoor Onsen!
Amazing meals, very comfortable. Located a bus top before most of the action in Yunomine, but didn't matter, as the comfortable room, the great food (including fresh caught fish from the innkeeper's husband), and the outdoor onsen overlooking a river was all we needed after a long day of hiking.

Peaceful home-style guesthouse with hot spring baths
Located in a sleepy hamlet, this is a nice spot if you're looking to relax in an authentic Japanese style. There are 3 private baths (2 indoor and 1 outdoor) that can be shared with travel companions. The owner is really sweet and a great cook - we particularly enjoyed the flounder (鰈) and soy milk nabe.

Location: most people stay in Yunomine, so just be aware this is two bus stop locations outside of the main town at the end of the hike. However it wasn't so hard to figure out the correct bus stop and make our way there after reaching Hongu at the end of the day. The home was 50m from the bus stop so if you can make your way there, then it's very easy after that. We also caught the bus the following day back to ki-tanabe station, which is where we took the train back to Kyoto from so that worked out really easy. Room: small but lovely, clean bedding and pyjamas provided. Air con/heating and hot tea on arrival. Bath: even though it is not in the main town where the springs are, they pump in the spring water (somehow) so you can still onsen in natural piping hot spring water! There are two private baths inside, and one outside, so that was really nice as I could onsen with my partner which you can't do in most other onsens given it is separate for men and women. You can use the private baths any time. Food: delicious, very flavoursome, and the host makes her own plum wine which was great!!

Night-time private Onsen over looking the river after a perfect meal by a sincerely charming host.
Its an extra hike after a longish stretch but totally worth it: The owner is very nice and seemed to enjoy talking with me. The Onsen overlooking the river was soothing and the room (with futon) very cosy. The meals and bentho were superb. She managed to even top all that by helping me with a room booking on the next leg as I hadn't planned that far ahead! 6 stars!

Amazing and amazing onsen!
This place is a little farther out of the center of town but totally worth it! (Also, if you are planning to catch the bus to Ukegawa in the morning, there is a bus stop about 500ft. from Minshuku Yunosato so you don't have to walk back to town for the main bus stop. There are THREE private onsens, 2 indoors and one outdoor overlooking the river. Absolutely amazing after a long day hike.

民泊の鑑。ありがとうございました！
場所は湯の峰温泉バス停から2個離れてはいますが、最寄りバス停からすぐ見えたのは長い一日の後に嬉しかったです。ようこさんはとても温かくて、到着してすぐに部屋でくつろげるように施設の案内をして、お茶を持ってきてくれました。お風呂はちょうど二人で入れるぐらいの大きさで二人組にとっても良いし、一人でゆっくり浸かりたい人にとってもとても良いサイズでした。手料理はみんな絶品で、次々と出てきてすこーし多すぎるぐらいでしたが、夜も朝もちゃんと食べて、一日のパワーになりました。今回泊ったの相方と二人だけだったので静かな時間を過ごすことができて嬉しかったです。自分が民泊の施設を始めるならこういうのにしたいな、とふと思ったぐらいアットホームな感じでした。ありがとうございました！

Kind hospitality and a cute Parakeet
The host was waiting for me at the bus stop as I rolled in on the last bus for the night, and I noticed the place had a parakeet named Pii-chan. So cute! I explained in poor Japanese that I had forgotten my hiking poles in Hongu, and would need to leave early the next morning to try and retrieve them. The host said it would be no problem for her husband to drive me to the store I'd abandoned them the next morning, and not only did we find them, they dropped me off at the trailhead, saving me time and a bus fare. It was a simple accommodation, but the service really made this place shine. Thanks so much.

Minshuku Yunosato
This ended up being our favorite place to stay. We actually stayed here two nights and took an extra day to explore the Hongu/Yunomine Onsen area. Note that the home is not in Yunomine Onsen per se, but a little bit out of the town. However, the service was excellent, and the food was the best we had on the whole trip. The owner puts so much care and attention into the meals. There are also two private onsen baths inside the guesthouse as well as one outdoor rotemburo close to their property. We loved our stay here and found it to be a great place to relax.

Minshuku Yunosato was a manageable distance from Yunomine. It is located right on the river with natural hot springs and had a lovely onsen for private use. Our host was very warm and helpful especially with helping us to catch the bus back to Kii-Tanabe which went very smoothly. She fed us very well and gave us beautiful Christmas cookies she had baked on departure. She made our stay special.

Great stay
My stay at minshuku yunosato was very good. It's a lovely inn and while a bit older, still in good condition. I love bathing in onsen and the water in yunomine is so good! The owner was very thoughtful and after the bath you could wear yukata. Food was also excellent and a traditional Japanese breakfast was served, which I enjoyed a lot. The minshuku is a bit outside of yunomine, but there is a bus stop right next to it, if you are to tired for walking.

Highlight of our Trip in Japan
So, I gave our stay straight five starts. Why? The guestroom was as expected and had wanted. We desired to experience a Japanese room and we got that experience. In the review of the bath, I included the private onsen. Thus, the five stars. It was fantastic to have a private onsen and we were frequent users! The meals were very good and compared very favorable with other meals we had in Japan. A clear highlight for us. We loved the homemade plum liqueur. As for the location, it was our second choice, since we had wanted to stay directly in Yunomine Onsen. However, in hindsight this location was perfectly fine: easy access to the bus and Yunomine Onsen is only a short walk away; a walk during which we were greeted by monkeys. The reception and service were excellent. Yoko is a wonderful host. When, for example, we needed an early breakfast, Yoko was kind to accommodate us.

Warm and friendly
This minshuku is situated a little bit outside Younomine Onsen but the bus stop is very close and our friendly hostess gave us lift a couple times during our stay, which was very much appreciated. Having an onsen at the guesthouse was fantastic. The owner was friendly. The place was slightly outside the town, the way to get there was not marked and it was not clear where to go to check in. The room itself was very basic, having at least a few chairs and a larger area to put our luggage would have been nice. The meals were good but pretty small.

Friendly and charming accommodation
Yoko is a wonderful welcoming host and the food is excellent. The rooms are spacious and there are 3 lovely private onsens to choose from, one being outside down by the river - pure bliss after a hard days walking. We stayed 2 days here and had a wonderul time. Note - It is a little bit out of Yunomine Onsen village, which isn't a big deal - just get off the bus 2 stops later or walk for 15 minutes (downhill) - nice, quiet location.

A wonderful place

Warm-hearted hospitality
Although Minshuku is relatively run-down, the host is extremely warm-hearted and does everything that she can to ensure that you have a good stay. She even baked cookies in the morning as a bonus goodbye gift! The biggest challenge with Minshuku Yunosato is the location. It is located at the top of a hill somewhat outside of the main town and there is not enough of a shoulder on the highway to walk on. We ended up getting a ride to the Minshuku from a friendly stranger. The host of Minshuku Yunosato was kind enough to drive us to town when we asked for assistance.

The Minshuku owner was just lovely, very warm and welcoming. Lovely pot of tea and cookies on arrival. We really loved this little spot by the river. It was about 1 km from Yunomine Onsen - we didn't go there to visit as were happy where we were. The accommodation was comfortable with a couple of shared but private onsens, which were very relaxing. The standout was the food though. Dinner and breakfast - both were plentiful in quantity and variety and delicious. Beer and local homemade wine available for purchase. Would recommend.

Amazing stay in a very nice minshuku
Minshuku Yunosato is a lovely guesthouse, in a calm area alongside a river about 1km from Yunomine onsen. The hostess is very nice and charming and greeted us very warmly. The room is very peaceful with the sound of the river, and the meals are just amazing. The onsen (indoor & outdoor) offer a relaxing time after a long walk on the Kumano Kodo trail. We had an amazing time!

One of our favourite stays!
Located just a few minutes south of Yunomine Onsen, this place had it all! We were right on a river that you can swim in and there's a free public onsen right on the river. As it's a few minutes outside of town, we didn't see any other tourists and really felt like we had the place to ourselves. There's a bus stop right in front and it's only a 15 minute walk to the main town. Our host (I feel terribly I can't remember her name!) was so hospitable and got us some cold tea and cookies as soon as we arrived. The meals were SO delicious and filling and the bento boxes for lunch on both days were great value. Free washing machine was an added bonus. We can't wait until we can stay again!

Friendly host, comfortable mineral bath
The host, Yoko-san is extremely friendly. She is very welcoming and explained the guesthouse well. Baths are shared but semi-private. Room is basic but sufficient. Breakfast at your preferred time, dinner at 6:30pm in the common dining area - all the meals were tasty and food was different for the 2 days we were there. Yoko makes her own cakes, which is served as dessert at breakfast. She also made cookies as gifts for her guests. Really great host and made us feel comfortable during our whole stay! Location is slightly off Yunomine onsen but didn't mind it at all - around 15min downhill walk from Yunomine onsen. Do check the bus schedules carefully if you are coming from Hongu Taisha area as the buses run only every hour or so.

Very comfortable, and a real spring water bath

Haven against the storm!
We spent most of two days inside this minshuku, as a typhoon was battering the region, and appreciated the kindness of the hosts, from driving us to Hongu for errands to treating us with tea and cakes outside the meals. The meals were diverse and tasty and plentiful! While the river by the house kept rising during our stay it never flooded (with one meter left) and we did not have to change plans or move to a shelter. A great memory from our trip!

If you are hiking the Kumano Kodo take note - you will need to take a bus or arrive early enough to hike an additional 90 minutes form Hongu
The photos of Minshuku Yunosato on you site don't do it justice, it is well situated at the bottom of the village across bridge and right on the side of the river with good views of the mountains and the valley, and probably much better views than can be had from most other places of accommodation in Yunomine. Ono, the proprietor, is very welcoming and actually met us off the bus. The guest room was clean, comfortable and large enough for the two of us. There are two baths, inside and outside, the outside one being across the road and under the bridge. The amount of sediment in the bottom of the outside onsen was rather disconcerting and I recommend sticking to the inside baths. The dinner and breakfast was good and you can buy beer from the fridge. It would be nice to be able to get more coffee in the morning. Take not though, while Kumano Travel recommend this place for people visiting Hongu, its actually a good distance from Hongu. If hiking the Kumano Kodo you will most likely arrive in Hongu in the late afternoon or early evening with little or no time to look around the shrine or other fathers in the town before catching what is an infrequent bus to Yunomine.

To stay in Minshuku Yunosato was absolute pleasure. We had a nice onsen overlooking the river. We washed our cloths so we could start the next day hiking with fresh cloths. The bus stopped and went just in front of the house and then there was the food. The food was absolutely amazjng. It was allot and good. Which you want after a day walking the Kumano Kodo. We actually got fish from the river next to the house. Couldnt get it any fresher. And the next day we even got home made coockies of the guestlady. She made us feel at home away from home.

Delicious Food and beautiful location at Minshuku Yunosato
We greatly enjoyed our stay at Minshuku Yunosato. While it is about a 10 minute walk from the center of town of Yunomine, Minshkuku Yunosato still has a lovely location along another river which you can hear from your bedroom at night (that I found very relaxing.) The accommodations are very simple but they still have an indoor and outdoor hotspring. The hospitality was wonderful and the food absolutely delicious. The meals were generous, homemade, and one of my favorites in my trip to Japan. The host speaks minimal English but was so nice and hospitable nonetheless.

Comfortable and welcoming.
We warmly welcomed and our room was spacious and comfortable. We had a flask of tea waiting for us in our room. Lovely to be able to relax in the bath at the end of a long day of walking. We absolutely loved this Minshuku. Yoko was an excellent host, prepared OUTSTANDING dinner and breakfast with lots of traditional Japanese delicious dishes that never stopped arriving. She also made us cake and cookies, which were excellent. The service was absolutely amazing. This accommodation is well worth the 1km distance from the center of the Yunomine Onsen town (and there is a bus stop right next to it). There are two inside onsens and one outdoors one, all for private baths, that are available at any time. They are clean, well kept, and they feel extremely relaxing. The outdoors onsen has wonderful views of the river below. I would recommend Yoko's minshuku to any explorer of the Kumano Kodo area.

This was a homely guest house with delicious food and amazing baths. You can use it as a couple. However, the shared toilets were a bit cramped and rundown in comparison. It was also a bit of a hike getting to the guesthouse - it’s quite far from the Yunomine onsen if you walk.

Great meals
The location is a little far if you've spent the day walking, but the food and hostess were top notch. The food was delicious, their homemade plum wine was excellent, and the hostess even went out of her way to drop me off the morning of my departure at my trekking starting point. The room was comfortable. The onsen was very hot a couple of times, to the extent that I couldn't go in fully, but there was a water tap running to help cool it.

Fantastic Two Nights

Truly Fantastic
One of the best places I stayed in my 2 weeks in Japan. We were hiking Hongu-Nachisan and stayed 2 nights at Minshuku Yunosato (couldn't find a place in Koguchi the 2nd night). It is a beautiful little hotel right on the river, a 10-15 minute walk from Yunomine Onsen or a very quick bus ride (maybe 2 minutes). The rooms were wonderful, with private onsen that were greatly appreciated after long rainy days of hiking. And the food...truly incredible. The owners were so sweet and friendly - limited english but it really wasn't a problem at all - I saw them call an English speaking friend to help when they were trying to work out booking a taxi for another guest. I could not recommend this place enough!

Relaxing two days stay!!!
Had a relaxing stay!! Cozy and clean bedroom. Very friendly owner, nice cook, delicious food!! She made a nice strawberry cake!!!! I loved the outdoor onsen bath!! Very nice after walking a day on the Nakahechi route. It's very quiet; the sounds of water, wind, nature is relaxing and peaceful. You can sit outside and enjoy the scenery of the mountains. We really loved our stay at this little minshuku. Our room was lovely with fresh tea & views across the river. Mineral bath was great. The best thing was the food! Very kind and warm welcome
The house is a little bit away from Yunomine but in a 10/15 min walk you are there. The 2nd bus stop of Yunomine is not so far a way. The bath is for private use and is really fantastic. The dinner and breakfast are great, everything really fresh and enough. At your arrival you get all the necessary information and she was really very kind and warm after a day walking in the rain it was a great welcome with a big smile. Thank you a lot. Nice place to stay
I had a little problem finding this place after reaching Hongue. It thought it would be at the end of the trail, but it was another walk and bus ride walk after I asked a lot of people for directions. So this could be clearer on their website. Otherwise, the proprietor was very nice; the private onsen was great; and the food was pretty good as well. I ended up liking the location because it was close to a bus stop to get to the next trail.

Lovely Private Onsen, Restaurant Quality Meals
Our stay at Minshuku Yunosato was wonderful, our hostess made sure that we were very comfortable. The private onsen on site sources hot water from Yunomine Onsen so that was a cool experience for us. Meals were extravagant, at least 10 separate dishes and expertly made! Such a friendly place ... we loved staying here and were thankful to have the experience.

Comfortable guest house with great private onsen
Minashuku Yunosato was a good guesthouse where I stayed for two nights. The vegetarian meals were good, but the quantity of food was less than I could have eaten. The room was quite comfortable although it had a faint smell of cigarette smoke. The private onsen was wonderful, although the water was extremely hot. But it felt good after finishing three days of walking on the Kumano Kodo! The location of the guesthouse is good as it is 1km from Yunomine Onsen where you can then walk a Kumano Kodo route to Hongu.

Highlights of Japan!
After hiking 26km, we ended our day at Minshuku Yunosato courtesy of the welcoming host and the private onsen and could not have been more pleased. The room was spacious and had hot water and free rice snacks. The beds were not the most comfortable we've experienced through our Japan travels but the meals and the onsen more than made up for it. There was never a wait for a private onsen and the water temperature was so hot but could be adjusted by the user. The dinner was absolutely delicious and the portions were incredibly generous. Even after hiking 26 km we were quite full at the end of dinner. Breakfast the following morning also did not disappoint even though we had to rush out of there. 10/10 would stay again.

Exceptional hospitality

Good Guesthouse in Yunosato
This is a larger guesthouse that is located in Yunostao. Note that this is not where you end the Kumano Kodo Trail; you have to take a short bus or taxi to get here from the Hongu shrine. The guesthouse is basic but well equipped with everything we needed. It had the best onsen (both indoor and outdoor!) we encountered in Japan. The water is straight from the natural hot springs! The food was very good too.

Extremely pleasant surprise!
We had originally booked a different minshuku but due to the summer storms, our booking was reallocated to here. It was very easy to find, and right next to a bus stop. Yoko was extremely kind and welcoming, and our room had an incredible view of the bright blue river. There are two indoor baths which were the ideal thing for the end of a long day hiking, and were large enough for me to float on my back! Due to the storms, the outdoor bath was understandably out of commission which was slightly disappointing, but obviously out of the minshuku's control. The highlight were the meals, easily the best food I ate on my two week trip to the country. The plum wine is a must have as well!

One of the Best Place to Stay
Located just right before the Yunomine Onsen, this place has excellent location. Furthermore, they have water from the onsen itself, so it is possible to enjoy hot spring baths just at the location. The host was a super friendly lady and the food she cooks was excellent. While the room was not as great as the places we have previously stayed, it was extremely comfortable and the homely feel to this minshuku more than made up for it. I highly recommend this place to any future travellers.

The best baths in Yunomine!
It was a 1km walk from Yunomine Onsen, but if you are lucky with buses there is a stop right across the street. The 3 private hot spring baths were PERFECT. One is outside on the river. Hard to beat for couples needing to relax. Service was great. I personally had a tough time sleeping on their beds (or padded blankets), but expected that to some extent. The other guesthouses along Kumano had softer mats and pillows.

The inside and outside baths are really clean and have great onsen water. It is not often that you can enjoy and outside onsen bath. I also enjoyed the conversation with the owner.

Super friendly minshuku
Im not a big fan of yunomine onsen, the egg cooking and little onsen are nice but that’s all there is to see there, I préfères chikuzaya or takahara. The minshuku itself has a onsen which is probably very clean but some little white chemical depots makes it less “romantic”. The bathroom and room are clean, the indoor onsen was extremely hot so we couldn’t use it despite trying to cool it down. Now the host is the nicest person we’ve met in our whole trip and she makes the stay really enjoyable with little attention all along the way. The food is excellent and the futons... are futons! Fun experience, nice feeling overall but not the most fancy place we stayed at (check kiri no sa to in takahara)

Peaceful and quiet in the valley
Located away from the main Yunomine Onsen (15 min on foot), this small place is located next to a river with stunning views of the foggy valley in the morning. There was full use of two private baths with water piped from the Onsen! Meals were of good quality and great variety for both supper and breakfast, one of my best meals on the trek. The minshuku hosts were kind and provided us little gifts of home made cookies on check out. Send a postcard home from the post office near the minshuku!

We arrived at Minshuku Yunosato very early in the morning because the typhoon was expected to arrive that day so walking was not an option. They were not expecting all the guests to arrive this early but had everything ready within 15 minutes! The rooms are on the small side but have everything you need. They even took 1 of each party staying at the guesthouse into town with their own car to do some grocery shopping. Great private onsen which we loved so we could enjoy the onsen as a family with our 9 month old daughter. Who received so much love and attention from the owners. Food was again excellent! Highly recommend this guesthouse:)

Warm and hospitable
A really nice little minshuku. While the interior may not look too polished, the baths were lovely and the hospitality that I experienced there was second to none during my stay in Japan. Worth the little walk it takes to get there.

Adv: Private bath is good for those who prefer not to use the public bath. Meals were delicious, but portion was small. Owner was willing to pre pack our breakfast for us to bring out at 6am, because we had to leave way before the usual breakfast time (7-8am). There was also home made cookies! Disadv: It is about 1km (10-15 min) walk from the main Yunomine onsen area.

The hostess is very sweet and a great cook but may be a bit understaffed.the setup is sort of hodgepodge with all rooms upstairs like a motel. You need to walk or bus out of the main area to find the place,which was not so convenient.

This was our favourite place to stat in our whole trip to Japan. The outdoor onsen is very special, the guestrooms are very comfortable and the food were the best meala by far that we had, even topping some great kaiseki and sushi places we had been to. We loved being just out of Yunonime it was much quieter yet also we were able to walk in tp town in 15 minutes. Hosting was so wonderful, she was so friendly and helpful. my sister left her sunglasses and she even sent it by courier to our next hotel. Thank you for the best stay!

A nice place on the river
It was cool to stay so close to the river, and especially to visit the outdoor onsen! The location near the river is nice and the view of the water, village, and hills from my room was excellent. The staff is very nice and the meals are really tasty! My only complaint is that the dining room has no window, and so it feels a bit claustrophobic.

Fantastic private inner baths, the most awesome food
If I were to recommend somewhere to stay at Yusomine, I would definitely advise Minshuku Yunosato, here is why: - We had a cosy room overlooking the river, sleeping to the sound of water was a plus. - The two inhouse private baths were memorable. A superplus after a day long hike. - Food was superb, delicious, it far exceeded our expectations. For one, sashimi was the best we had in our holidays in Japan. - Our host, Yoko, was super-friendly and welcoming, and as said, an outstanding cook.

Fantastic stay
We were a bit worried about staying here because it was a way off the path in another village, not the main spa towns - but cannot recommend enough. Utterly wonderful host who cooked us two incredible meals (not easy as we're vegetarian) and has an AMAZING private outdoor bath we'll remember forever. Stay here.

Lovet this minshuku
I absolutely loved this minshuku. I loved the location, out of town, on the river. I loved the bath. And the food, the care of the staff. I have been to many minshuku in my eleven trips to Japan and this was one of the best. Absolutely loved it!

Loved it
We really appreciated our stay. Yoko is very friendly and welcoming, she took great care of us. Her cuisine is delicious. The village is about a kilometre down the road from Yunomine but, to our mind, this is an advantage. There are no crowds and it's less cramped, there's more space down by the river.

Beautiful stay near Yunomine Onsen!
Minshuku Yunosato is located just a short walk from Yunomine Onsen, and is a spacious guesthouse with an onsen - perfect for soaking after hiking the Kumano Kodo. The owner is incredibly warm-hearted and prepared a very delicious dinner and breakfast for us with local ingredients, plus she even gave us a little note and pack of cookies when we left! The onsen are clean, the accommodation is spacious and quiet, and the view of the river is absolutely lovely. Great spot to stay, and would come back for sure!

One of the best minshuku I ever stayed
After a long walking day under the rain, I arrived at Yunomine onsen and was lucky to reach such a great minshuku. They have both indoor and outdoor onsens which is perfect for relaxing when you arrive a little bit tired with your clothes completely wet. Furthermore Yoko is an amazing cooker and she will prepare delicious Japanese dinner and breakfast with some fruits and vegetables coming directly from her farm. The minshuku is conveniently located on the road between Yunomine onsen and Wataraze and easy to find. I will definetly go back to minshuku Yunosato if I travel again in the area. My opinion is meals and service could be rated 6 stars above maximum 5 stars for such pricing!

Superb Minshuku
Very nice, little Minshuku. We were greeted with a warm smile and hot tea. Supper and breakfast were out of this world. Amazing and authentic japanese cooking, very generous portion sizes too. There are three (!) private Onsen bathes for you to use in the Minshuku (all inclusive), so you can soak in hot spring water after a great meal without worrying about blocking the bath for other guests. Busses from/to Hongu, Shingu and Tanabe stop right in front of the Minshuku (Bus stop "Shimoyukawa")! It is also just 10 minutes walk from Kumano Kodo, which exits right at Tsuboyu Onsen. So you can walk the path, and soak in the world heritage Onsen before checking in, or afterwards. On a side note: The Minshuku has a vending machine which offers, next to other beverages, cold beer.

Excellent budget accommodation
Easily found across the bridge from the Shimoyukawa bus stop (just before the bus gets to Yunomine). Friendly welcome, large simply furnished room with a view across the river, in a family home. Very clean, including the bathrooms. The onsen was large and steaming hot, so hot I needed to add cold water before I could get in! In the room you lay out your own futon bed - because I was on my own I used all 4 pads for comfort. I would have liked a chair but realise this would not be typical in a Japanese home. Dinner was plentiful and very good, simple dishes including fish caught in the river that day and home-grown vegetables. Plum wine was available to buy. Breakfast was also very good. Highly recommend.

Great experience, but facilities are a bit dated
Minshuku Yunosato is a bit underwhelming when you first arrive as it appears to be a bit older and the facilities may not be as beautiful as some of the Ryokans, but the lady running this place is wonderful and the meals she prepares are equally great. The water stopped working while I was there, but I won't hold that against them as it could happen to any location. I would certainly speak highly of the onsen at this location. While the indoor one is nothing special, the outdoor onsen is beautiful, private and very relaxing. I recommend you use that one instead. The room itself is like any other guesthouse. The heated blanked was nice. My one grip was with the pillows as I am not used to the Japanese buckwheat pillows and made sleeping almost impossible. I had to scrunch up my jacket and use that instead. If you're taller or a westerner, I would also recommend bringing something cover your feet as I found all the Japanese futons were a bit short and your feet often dangled out the end. Overall, this was a great little stay. Not luxurious by any means but comfortable for a night after trekking.

Wonderful!
Minshuku Yunosato was a lovely comfortable place for a home base when walking Kumano Kodo. The people are so friendly, rooms are cozy, meals excellent. Only suggestion is to let travelers to get off bus at Shimoyunomine (2 stop difference) rather than Yunomine Onsen stop if traveling with luggage. I would recommend using Kumano Travel for Wakayama accommodations again. Excellent service!

My stay at the Minshuku Yunosato was wonderful! The room, baths and facilities were very clean and cosy.The breakfast was superb. The location is also good, as the house is located in a walking distance to all three onsens, however, the host is always willing to give you a lift. Finally, travelling through Japan for three weeks, it has been one of the best experiences thanks to a wonderful, kind, helpful and caring host ! I cannot recommend this place more!

A wonderful, down to earth Gem with super riverside location
This place is small and cute. Has the feel of a homestay. The river next to it is so clear, I want to come back in the summer to swim. It is about one km south of Yunomine Onsen, which is a bit of a walk up hill, but doable. There is a bus stop right across the bridge. The valley itself has a few more homes and very local. It is much more of a lived in settlement than Yunomine Onsen which is more accommodation and hot spring focused. But the hot spring here was just as nice. The indoor one was very deep, so I could sit in it up to my neck. It is a steep staircase down to the outdoor one overlooking the river. It is kind of underneath the bridge. The owner gave us some nice cookies when we checked out. Highly recommended if you are looking for something quiet and family run.
