概要

赤い屋根の白い家　熊野古道沿いの宿

近露王子の近くの熊野古道中辺路ルート沿いにある近露櫻の園本館・別館。その横の敷地に立つ赤い屋根の白い家が「別館　山櫻」です。
本館・別館は伝統的な日本家屋ですが、別館山櫻は現代的な仕様となっております

桜の名所を作りたい、という想いでオーナーが毎年10本ずつ苗木の植樹を続けてきました。お宿の名前はそれに由来します。敷地内の庭園は早咲きのカワヅザクラやソメイヨシノ、ヤエザクラやクマノザクラなど、春にはおよそ20種100本の桜が楽しめます。

謝謝近露櫻の園主人的接待

森の出口のすぐそばにあり、オーナーはドアに掛けられた看板で私たちを迎えてくれ、とても親切でした。部屋は暖かく、清潔で、静かでした。ホストはゲストのために洗濯機を用意してくれ、とても親切でした。一番良かったのは夕食でした。朝食やお弁当もとてもボリュームがあって美味しかったです。出発前にホストが私たちのために祝福の儀式を執り行い、忘れられない送別会を開いてくれました。

Really wonderful family and stay

We stayed here on our second night and loved the location (literally on the Nakahechi route). Nearby is a grocery store and a beer garden. The food was delicious and the couple was very nice. This made for a very pleasant stay overall.

I loved this place

What an amazing place to stay & easy to find from the trail. Husband & wife team were awesome and sooo welcoming. We stayed in the annexe and it was exceptionally clean to the point of being spotless as was the bathroom area. We had the breakfast, lunch and dinner option and all were AMAZING. There is a supermarket close by which was well stocked with an amazing range of things + a really good bakery, was super happy about that. Upon leaving we were given a leaving ceremony to wish us well on our journey. It really was a beautiful thing to do, as I say the hosts were amazing as was everything else about this place. Definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

Located on the trail as it enters Chikatsuyu Oji the guest house was very easy to find. The hosts were extremely warm and welcoming, they were lovely people. The guest house was large and had a good kitchen and laundry facilities. We were lent bicycles to make the short journey to the local shop, which was great. Highly recommend staying here.

Great location, great food

I arrived at the end of the track to find a welcoming sign with my name which was a very sweet gesture. The owner, a lovely and kind man invited me and my new artist friend to chat inside and made us coffee. The stay had everything I needed, including beautiful views and a fantastic massage chair to relieve muscles tension across the whole body. Dinner was truly one of the best meals I have had on this trip and the packed lunch was very yummy too. The location is fantastic, being literately the first house at the end of the track for that day and a short stroll to town centre. The host was kind and helpful. Thank you very much for having me.

Excellent Stay, Hospitable Hosts

An excellent stay on the first night of our Kumano Kodo Nakahechi Trail. We were a little too late to reserve a room in the main house but the annex turned out fine as well. They even have a massage chair in the room! Futon was so comfy~I concussed and woke up disoriented, lol. Food was unique and delicious (of the side dishes I can recall: almond slivers on fish drenched in citrusy sauce, hamburger, croquette, salad, tempura, and of course sashimi) and our host even served us homemade umeshu! Dessert was vanilla ice cream. Breakfast was towards continental and not as filling. The lunch bento was packed in a cute plastic box with panda sticker on top. It was filling and fueled us up for the next half of D2 long walk to Hongu Taisha. Overall highly recommended!

Amazing guest house right along the Nakahechi Trail

As we arrived in Chikatsuyu, we were greeted by a sign right in front of our guest house welcoming us by name! What a beautiful surprise! The host family was go friendly and generous. The Annex is comfortable and spacious. The bed was very comfortable! We were able to walk to the local grocery store to buy a few snacks. Dinner, breakfast, and a box lunch were all delicious and served with care and grace. They even sent us off in the morning with a brief good luck ceremony.

Very warm welcome

Wonderful house, nice couple, great food

We were very comfortable staying at the Yamazakura Annex - it was immaculately clean and very comfortable. It is one of the first buildings as you enter Chikatsuyu on the Kumano Kodo. There was a washing machine available although we didn't use it. The ofuro was wonderful and welcome after a cold day of walking. We were met on arrival and given a drink and small snack, and were able to choose our dinner and breakfast times. Both meals were outstanding. Although we didn't speak Japanese and our hosts didn't speak perfect English, we were able to converse and understand each other. We even had a great and interesting conversation with some patience for each other and waiting for Google translate. Wifi was fast and available, there were also bikes available to borrow (although we didn't end up using them). Our hosts also gave us information about the town and nearby shrines. Overall we had a tremendously enjoyable stay!

Unforgettable Hospitality on the Kumano Kodo

I had the most wonderful stay with this incredibly hospitable couple. After a long day of hiking, they welcomed me with such warmth and kindness, making me feel right at home. The dinner they prepared was absolutely delicious, as was the breakfast and the carefully packed lunchbox for the next day. Every meal was made with care and tasted amazing. Without a doubt, this was the best stay of my entire Kumano Kodo journey. Their generosity and hospitality truly made my experience unforgettable. I highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a welcoming and heartwarming place to rest.

Excellent accommodation and hosts

Our hosts were warm and engaging. They greeted us with a personalised welcome sign on the gate. This set the scene to a spectacular stay. We were upgraded to a fabulous room. Attention to detail everywhere from the pillows to the food. The food was prepared and cooked in front of us and tasted amazing. We loved all the local dishes and the plum liquor. It was great to use the electric massage chair and bicycles. The village was wonderful. The family provided information and guidance, they organised our luggage transfer. We appreciated the guide books and other information books. We especially appreciated the safe travel ritual before we left. We felt very blessed to have met and stayed with this family. An exceptional experience. I'd recommend this to everyone.

Above and beyond service

No Onsen but the bath was superb and there was a massage chair and also push bikes to ride around town. The hosts performed a “safe travels” ritual for us as well as being delighted to welcome us into their dining room for dinner. We loved our stay here.

Top stay of our trip

We were lucky enough to be upgraded to the main house which was so comfortable. Thr host was exceptional, he went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. Thr food was outstanding; both the evening meal and bento as well as the breakfast. The good lunch ceremony was a lovely touch. So glad we chose this accommodation, it was our favourite on the Kumano Kodo

Lovely minshuku with lovely host

Yamazakura Annex is run by a really sweet and lovely couple! The place is well located just beside the Kumano Kodo trail entrance to Chikatsuuyu. Place is clean, has a well-equipped kitchen too. We got a nice spacious room that comes with a balcony. Host was super welcoming and friendly. My friend left her walking stick in the house, Shin, the host came cycling with the walking stick in his hand to the bus stop to look for us. Definitely hope to return again some day. Thank you very much Shin & family!!

Perfect in every way

The location and the accommodation were perfect - the guesthouse is spacious, clean and very comfortable with excellent facilities. It is an easy walk to the small town nearby and to the bus stop. Chie and Shin are very welcoming and kind and the food was delicious, of high quality and plentiful!

My favorite accommodation and experience during our trip to Japan!

Staying at Yamazakura Annex was such a special and memorable experience. The hospitality, food, location was exceptional. The best meal I had while I was in Japan. Perfect place to anyone

We stayed at the Cherry garden for one night and it was a perfect night. Shin-San welcomed us very well and gave us a great dinner that night. there are actually 3 rounds: sashimi and delights， beef tofu soup， and ramen. The room was good, too. they even have a massage chair in the room， which is perfect for us after a whole day hiking. lastly, the location is great as well. it's just beside the main road and you can't miss it

Such welcoming hosts

Absolutely fabulous

This was our favorite accommodation. Chie and Shin were excellent hosts. The accommodation was lovely and Chie taught us how to wear a yukata. The meals were so delicious. We hope one day to visit again.

Perfect

This was our second time staying here, and once again everything was perfect. The owners were extremely nice, helpful and generous, the food was delicious and plentiful and the facilities are beautiful, clean and comfortable. I would consider coming to chikatsuyu just to stay here for a few days.

Yamazakura Annex

Fantastic place. Has a full private kitchen, basically you've got a whole house to yourself in the Annex...the massage chair after a day of hiking is to die for! Wonderful friendly proprietor, his homemade umeshu is fantastic, and everything here is catered for. Loved it!

Wonderful stay

What a wonderful stay! The house was so good. The owner couple was so kind! (sorry I can't remember your names clearly) A perfect place to relax after a long hike. The room was comfortable and the food was delicious. The dinner was not only good taste but also big size and various dishes, as well as the box lunch. Since the bus was few and the time was too early, they kindly drove us to the hiking starting point the next day, making us the most convenient hiking experience.

A must stop literally on the Kumano Kodo

The Yamazakura annex is the sister site to the Chikatetsu Cherry Garden "sakura no sono" which is right on the Kumano Koo-there's a route marker on their property. I was the only guest, so I got upgraded to the main guesthouse at no charge(normally 2x the price!). The hosts are incredibly kind and hospitable. The house is INCREDIBLE, you feel like you're in a countryside estate. I'd spring for dinner and breakfast, that the hosts make for you at your table. It was the 2nd best dinner I had on the trail. They also make their own Umeshu, which is like plum/apricot liqueur and it's awesome, you get a glass free with dinner. They were so kind to host me and send me off, always available but never overbearing. They speak basic English as well. The only downside would be the toilet and bath is in an area without AC/heat and in winter, that was a bit chilly. About 5 min walk from the town grocery store and a kitchenette if you wanna make your own food, or need to buy anything for your next hike.

My favorite stay during the 3-day hike

Shin-san and Chie-san made my stay here absolutely perfect and I cannot thank them enough for their wonderful hospitality. When I reached Chikatsuyu, it was raining cats and dogs and they happily let me check in early so that I could take a hot shower and rest. I basically had the whole annex (which is a separate house from the main house) to myself even though there were 3 rooms. The food was impeccable - I was very well-fed and thought the meals here were the highest quality. Shin-san even offered me a glass of their own homemade umeshu which was delicious. I was sad to leave the guesthouse the next day, and would definitely come back again if I have the chance!

Best stay

There is a welcome card in front of the entrance that it is easy to find where I have got the guest house. The host Mr. Shin's couple are very nice and helpful that make us a wonderful experience in Chikatsuyu.

Yamazakura Annex - REview

Fantastic Place and very pleasant accommodations. Very Clean and had all the facilities required for exhausted hikers. Good kitchen facilities. Food was amazing and out of this world!! The owners are a young couple and there provided 5 star service for Dinner, Breakfast and Lunch Box. Introduction to Plum Wine and now we are hooked!! Will Highly Recommend this place.

近露櫻の園　別館　山櫻

長い山道後､素晴らしい宿を出会って本当に良かったです。オーナーさんの対応は珍しい「1対1サービス」のイメージがあって、かなり親切です。夕食はもちろん、栄養のバランスがよい便利も山登りの役に立ちました。

We were booked into Yamazakura Annex but stayed at the main house. Our hosts were exceptional in their attention to their guests. The house was delightful and the food was the best we'd had on the Kumano Kodo trail. Everything about our stay was perfect.

It's a wonderful stay!

Out stay in Yamazakura Annex was a wonderful experience. Lovely space and bedroom, quiet and comfortable with everything a tired traveller needed. The host is such a warm person who can communicate in English(although he says his English is bad) very hospitable and considerate. There are two bikes for the guests to ride around the lovely neighborhood.

Great Stay at Shin San's Place

I had a wonderful stay here. When we arrived at the village, we were super tired from hiking for about 15 kilo meters. Shin San's place was just at the entrance of the village and there was a little welcome sign just for us by the entrance of his house. We were very much welcomed when we checked in. Shin's English is very good. He explained the layout of the village and gave us very detailed instructions about bus schedule, hiking routes and etc. He also lent us bikes to ride around the village. In the evening, we had very delicious dinner and were even surprised to have kyushu style ramen. After taking a shower, I used their massage chair to kill the soreness on my body. To sum up, it was a very impressive. Thank you, Shin San, for making my trip memorable and comfortable!

Accomodation, dinner and b'fast

Wow, this place has it all. Our first homestay accomodation and the family were incredible. We arrived early and were welcomed and given drinks and snacks and a tour of the house on arrival. We were also given privacy outside of meal times. Our washing was done for us and ready for the next day of walking. The food was all made by our hosts. Exceptional traditional food. The food was abundant and delicious. The home is cosy and clean. the massage chair was a lovely bonus after a long day of walking up hills. We would definitely come again, thank you for your hospitality.

Our hosts were also exceptional, Their welcome at the Annex by way of a small sign as we entered the grounds of the Annex at the end of a very wet day from Takahiri was most heartwarming. Their personal welcome, the effort to make us comfortable, dry off, shower and warm up were most appreciated. The evening meal was one of the best meals we had in Japan (including numerous restaurants throughout the trip), lunch and breakfast excellent. Their efforts to make us welcome and comfortable were highly appreciated

Exceptional stop in the path

After a demanding route from Takijiri we arrived at this place where we were grateful surprised with our hosts. In a very clean place, superb facilities and a very tasteful dinner prepared by our hosts. A real fantastic experience. Thanks to Shin-san and her wife for being such wonderful hosts.

A lovely visit

Came in from a short walk in the rain and the reception was great, a lovely warm welcome. We were able to dry our shoes, and clothes and even wash our clothes too, which was great. Dinner was lovely and overall had a great stay, we would highly recommend

Absolutely perfect!!

Nothing but positive words about this stay! You’re being welcomed with a note after coming out of the forest which gives you a warm feeling. Our meal was prepared by the host himself and it was delicious: a 10/10! We were lucky to have the annex to our selves, however private room was very clean and comfortable to stay at. Overall: would definitely recommend staying here while Hiking the Kumano Kodo. Highlight of our 3-week trip in Japan!!!!

Highly recommended! A pretty and warm house that greets you when you first enter Chikatsuyu village, just a short walk away to the bus stop, can easily catch the only early bus to Hosshinmon next day. Owner is very friendly and helpful, we are treated to a sumptuous dinner. Currently they only accept one group per day, so we have the own place to ourselves. A very warm, comfortable and unforgettable stay! Thank you!

Couldn’t be better

滝尻王子から熊野古道を歩いていて、近露のまちにに入ったか入らないかのところにあり、非常に見つけやすい場所にありました。親切かつ丁寧、フレンドリーに、対応いただきました。夕食は思いの外、ボリュームがありました。栄養バランスのよい食事だったとも思います。おいしかったです。出発時にいただいたお弁当が味もボリュームもしっかりしており、大変助かりました。
