古道歩きにぴったりのお弁当
地元の食材を使用した熊野の山の恵みを存分に味わえる民宿大村屋の特製お弁当です。
熊野の郷土料理の「めはりずし」や赤飯おにぎりが入った4種のおにぎりと季節の野菜や新鮮な食材で丁寧に作られた田舎料理が詰まった体喜ぶヘルシーなお弁当です。
おかずに使われている山菜は大村屋の女将が山で摘んできたものです。
お客様の持ち運びを意識した工夫がされており、古道歩きのおともにぴったりです。
お弁当のパッケージは予告なしに変更される場合がございます。ご了承ください。
本宮エリア内の宿は配達サービスをご利用いただけます。出発日の朝、当日の昼食としてお受け取りください。

Delicious!
Our lunch was very good! We had it along the way going to the Hongu grand shrine about 4 hours after we received them. Everything was packed well and tasted much like home and we felt really healthy eating them.

Delicious and filling
I'll never forget walking the Kumano Kodo and then stopping at the top of the mountain overlooking Kumano Hongu Taisha Otorii and eating this bento. It has so much variety and everything you need to feel energetic and satisfied. It was clearly made with care and consideration. A great way to experience local food and take a break during a big day. It was delivered to our accommodation before we had even eaten breakfast.

Fascinating Lunch Box
The lunch box was very well composed. When you open it, it was beautiful. As we received in the very hot day, we were afraid the bento gets bad so the minshuku we stayed gave us icepack. We ate at the Nachi Shrine. Having this beautiful bento at the top of the stairs was definitely a joyful moment. The lunch box gave us energy to move afternoon. Loved it.

Great lunch
I continue to be impressed with the food and presentation of all the meals. This was no exception. It was delivered right in time and wrapped and ready to go. There was a perfect amount of food and we actually ended up eating some for breakfast and then as an afternoon snack. Recommend getting the lunch here.

Delicious and pretty
The food was very good, I enjoyed discovering local specialties during the walk. I loved the presentation with the actual leaves instead of plastic ones. I even loved the plastic bag, as it showed newspaper articles in French, and I work in a French newspaper :)

No tea... even when I ordered it.
We got our lunch box, but no tea, even when I ordered it. I had read a similar review before my trip and thought it was a mistake, rather than an ongoing thing, as it looks like it is. I recommend ordering just the lunch box and getting your drink somewhere else. There are vending machines almost everywhere, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Tasty and filling vegan lunch box
The lunch box was delivered nice and early to our guesthouse, while we were having breakfast. It was a hearty vegan (vegetarian type E) lunch, with rice, mock meat, potatoes, and vegetables. It was good and filling, and everything was seasoned - nothing bland at all. Recommended for fellow vegans on the trails!

Amazing trip thanks to Kumano Travel
This trip simply would not have been possible without Kumano Travel. The curated list of places to stay along with model itineraries and most importantly coordinating all the logistics among all the accommodations and services (luggage), as well as dietary restrictions, allergies, etc. made planning the trip easy. Sometimes they get a little behind on communication, but when it matters they respond quickly, and everything was always completed in plenty of time for the trip. Really fabulous experience!

I picked up a packed lunch on the first floor of the guesthouse, and although I obviously chose the option that included tea, there was no tea. There was no one to guide me to the guesthouse, and I tried calling the number written on the paper, but it came up as a number that didn't exist and I couldn't contact them.

Nice picnic lunch
The lunch pack was good, but probably unnecessary as the walk was quite short and we ended up in Hongu in time for lunch and could have just had lunch when we finished the walk (as we did on the Camino). Either way it was nice to experience something different.

Perfect lunch box for our hike!
Had a really wonderful lunch box from Minshuku Omuraya that was delivered to the Visitor Center. Everything was thoughtfully packaged, and we loved having all the side-dishes! It was a very tasty lunch and we were glad to have it!

味はとても良かったです。ただ、女性にはおにぎりが1つ多く感じました。また、煮物の汁が溢れ、入れて頂いていた袋がベタベタになってしまったのが少し残念でした(ガイドさんに横にしない様に注意を受けたのですが、リュックの中で傾いたようです)。

A fantastic experience

Japanese, variety and super tasty!
Some of the ingredients in the lunch box we don't actually know what they were but it was that tasty we munch through the lot! Miniature rice balls come in a separate leaf wrapped package, they are super tasty with unusal combo and seasoning. Highly recommended. Tea came in a plastic bottle (similar to those you can purchase from convenient stores), was a bit disappointing as we were expecting hot tea...but definitely not a deal breaker.

A great Bento Box of Japanese Treats
This was an excellent lunch box. The best on the Pilgrimage and well worth getting. It was waiting for us at the desk when we checked out and comprised three excellent rice balls with different herbs and spices as well as some treats and green tea. Good value and nicely presented.

Excellent meal on the Kumano Kodo
We initially didn't request a lunch box for this section of the trail, but did so after talking more with Kumano Travel and understanding what options would be available to us. I am so glad we bought a lunch box each day, including this one. As someone who is budget-saavy, health conscious, and focused on making sure that my husband has plenty to eat (haha), I would definitely recommend this lunchbox, as well as getting lunch each day from your accommodation or otherwise through Kumano Travel - each one (including this one) was delicious, easy to carry, fortifying, and we didn't have to worry about finding somewhere to eat along the way (which sometimes wasn't available at all).

Kumano Kodo Lunch Box
We decided to walk the Hongu Loop and knew we would need to take some food with us. We thought that the Kumano Kodo lunch box would be a good choice. It had already been delivered to our accommodation when we arrived in Yunomine Onsen so there was no delay in starting our day. It was a beautifully presented lunch and very welcome when it was time to eat. It really enhanced the walking experience being able to eat fresh, local, delicious food.

It's great that Minshuku Omuraya caters to vegetarians, but our lunch box was just a bed of rice with steamed vegetables and pickles on top. It was nice to have as a backup meal plan, but we were rather looking forward to "onigiri rice balls, including mehari-zushi (rice wrapped in a pickled mustard leaf, a local specialty)" as the description states.

The lunchbox is unbelievable! All lunchboxes that were made in the accommodations where I stayed were really delicious, but this lunchbox was even better! A huge portion with really diverse local and seasonal food. I was blown away when I opened my first lunchbox. I also recommended the lunchbox to other travelers I met who stayed in an accommodation that did not offer lunch boxes.

Lovely selection
Although a little expensive, this lunch box provided a great variety. Unfortunately, we couldn't really enjoy the bento box as was torrential rain the day we walked so couldn't sit and enjoy our lunch and the outlook!

Amazing luxury bento box
What more can I say?! This was amazing, lovely fresh food, beautifully wrapped and cleverly kept cool with a frozen can of drink to go with it. Definitely go for this - it was delivered to the reception of our ryokan in plenty of time and was absolutely no hassle. Much better than you could buy from the little convenience store in Ukegawa. Just make sure you have room in your bag as it isn't small!

Excellent service
This is an excellent service. We were greeted with a friendly smile and a sign with my name on it by the shuttle representative. He gave us some details to be able to contact him should we need to, plus some local honey. He then tagged our bags and was off. We never saw him again but our bags arrived perfectly at every location. Amazing service.

hongu to nachi trek
Overall great trekking from hongu taisha to nachi taisha. Very lucky with the weather-would have been difficult to trek if it had rained. Accommodation along the trek were all great. Would advise to use luggage shuttle from koguchi to nachi taisha trek. It was literally a back breaking slope.

It was very average.
While I am not a picky eater (and I ate everything in this bento box) it was not the best. I liked a lot better the bento box I had the first day (when I departed from Yunomine). I love Japanese food, specially onigiris but this was not very tasty. Again, I ate it all and cannot really complain as I needed the energy for a very demanding day. But I do think perhaps a bit more flavor could be added. I found the a cabbage wrapped onigiris to be quite bitter.

Day 1 lunch was very generous; day 2 lunch was a descent size but for the level of difficulty of that portion of the hike, I could have ate 4 lunches!!! The food was tasty - lots of rice though. The presentation very thoughtfully done.

Gorgeously presented, but a lot more food than we needed
You don't need to spend this much to get a fine lunch on this leg of the trail. There's an excellent convenience store at the start of the day's walk where obento can be bought. Or just buy one of these lunch boxes and share between two people - it's rather a lot too much food for one.

Minshuku Omuraya lunchbox
Lovely presentation and excellent food. We had this on our long hike from koguche to hongu taisha and it was a fantastic way to have a traditional lunch in the mountains.

A huge delicious meal

お汁が少しこぼれていたと言う書き込みを見ていましたので、ナイロン袋を用意していたのですが、ちゃんと入れてありました。４種類のおにぎりがかわいらしく包まれていて、大きさも食べやすく、また竹かごに入った山菜豊富なおかずも少しづついろんな種類が入れられてとても美味しかったです。竹かごと竹の皮もしっかりお土産にいただきました。

４種類のおにぎりも、野菜も、とーっても美味しかったです。 ２段は多いかなと最初は思いましたが、ペロリと平らげてしまいました。 竹籠が、想像していたものとは違いましたが、お茶も美味しかったので 星は５つです！

山歩きをしている最中にお汁がちょっと出てしまったのが難点でしたが見た目もかわいく、味も美味しくいただきました。 めはり寿司など特産があって良かったです。 今度は鮎が豊作の年にいただきたいです。

Superb food, amazingly arranged!
This bento, enjoyed with a view of the ""3600 peaks of Kumano"", was the best we ever had. It had an array of seasonal vegetables, nigiris and fish/meat, and was cutely packed in a banana leaf box which we still keep. Delivery to our accomodation was seamless - it was there in the morning just as if our hosts had prepared lunchboxes for us.

Great value, perfect lunch box!
The lunch boxes were delivered to the ryokan we were staying in by the time I got up (7:30am, as requested). The boxes were made of traditional bamboo leaves which gave it a rustic look. One box consists of rice balls, all individually wrapped. Some were wrapped in (edible) leaves. Delicious. The other box consist of steamed and marinated vegetables such as mushroom, spring vegetables, Japanese pickles, and some tofu pieces. It was a wholesome, hearty meal - and I was left full and energized after my hike on the Kumano Kodo trails. Highly recommended!

熊野古道２段竹かご弁当最高でした
熊野古道散策の時間がちょうど昼頃となるため、コンビのおにぎりでもと考えておりましたが、田辺市熊野ツーリストビューローのホームページで竹かご弁当を見て注文しました。伏拝王子で弁当を開いていただきましたが、味も内容も最高でした。竹かごは持ち帰り、今も使っております。有難うございました。

Convenient
Compared to other lunchboxes we had, we thought it was mediocre. As we did not know if we would be able go get a lunch somewhere on the route we ordered it, however in Hongu and in Yuomine there are many places where a lunchbox or lunch can be bought and much better value.

飲食店は少ないです。
茶店の人に聞くと、平日は普通はお店を閉めているが、団体客が立ち寄る場合はお店を開けるそうです。古道には基本的に飲食店はほとんどありません。本宮大社などの拠点にはあります。お弁当を持っていれば、歩くペースによって、適当な休憩所で食べることができると思います。おにぎりの一つに汁気があるものがあり、それが漏れ出ていたので、星４つです。
