Minshuku Mandokoro is an old farm house in the small, isolated collection of houses called Miura-guchi surrounded by the steep mountains of Totsukawa-mura, Nara Prefecture. 
The main section of the house and distinctive large wooden gate in front of the house, are designated as Tangible Cultural Assets by the Nara government.  Terraced rice fields are located nearby as well as an old school house. 
It is well positioned for hikers on the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route, Kohechi section, with Miura-toge pass to the south and the Obako-toge pass to the north.

Minshuku Yamamoto is a friendly home stay in the Miura-guchi area. 
It is ~2 km north-east on route 733 from the north trailhead of the Miura-toge pass trail head of the Kumano Kodo Kohechi route.
The large wooden home is located in a small settlement of homes, a very scenic landscape in the steep mountains. 
There is a small cabin next to the house that is sometimes used by guests. 
The rooms are separated by fusuma sliding doors. 

If you call from the pay phone near the toilet on the west side of the tunnel near the trailhead to the Obako-toge pass trailhead, and then move to the Miura-guchi bus stop and wait, the owners can pick you up in their car.
It is about 800 m from the Obako-toge trailhead to the Miura-guchi bus stop, about a 10-minute walk.
