Akizuno Garten has become a center for many experience programs with a focus on the agricultural culture of the area.  The restaurant serves a buffet of local dishes made from regional products.  The courtyard is a lovely green space great for relaxing.

Nice Stay

Staff courteous! Room clean and spacious. Tatami futon floor padding was a little uncomfortable. Would have slept better with more padding.

Lovely complex, wonderful food and very friendly staff - but maybe not for single travellers

This is a lovely complex bordering farmlands and countryside. It consists of a charming converted school house and two new timber wings with a green, sunny courtyard in between. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It may be an issue if you cannot speak Japanese though as they didn't speak a lot of english. I had a room in one of the new wings and it was large and clean and had its own bathroom. The beds were a strange hybrid though - a bed shaped and sized raised tatami mat with futon. They weren't that comfortable. The meal was huge and cooked and served by a wonderfully friendly lady. I recommend their ume-shu (apricot brandy)! I was however the only one in the dining room. The location is on the outskirts of Tanabe and not that convenient to reach by bus. I ended up taking taxis. I recommend this place for groups rather than the single traveller I was. This may however change at more popular walking times. I was there in early September.

A lovely quiet place to stay

I enjoyed staying staying here. The surround orchards are beautiful no matter what the season is. All meals were delicious. Very easy to get here and around if you have a car.

1 night stay in Akitsuno Garten

This is the first time I have been to this place and my first impression of the place was very good. Especially the Jam making experience, I enjoyed it very much and will defintely use what I learn to prepare my own Jam. The place is a family friendly place (most parents would bring their children to take part in the activities hosted by the management of the hotel) and one could enjoy the festivities of the place. The staff especially the obaa-san who prepared the meals was very friendly and tried to communicate with us with her limited english (in the end, she got a guest who knows English to communicate so to better understand us). Through this, me and my friends got to know the helpful guest and we managed to make a friend in Japan. The only downside of the place is it is not close to the station (even the bus stop to the place is far). Despite this, I would recommend any families to this place as the staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean.
