Charming Rental House

Hibiki is a rental house in a small, quiet community in the Nakahechi area of Tanabe City associated with Café Bonte. Café Bonte is where check-in/check-out are done and serves as the dining room for the Hikibi lodging. Delicious meals including vegetarian options are available.

The lovely house itself is large and very well maintained with comfortable sitting area, featuring both Japanese style and Western bedrooms. Beautiful antiques and art decorate the home.

The nearest bus stop is Kii-Okawa which is between Takijiri-oji and Chikatsuyu-oji. Hibiki is not located along the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route, but shuttles from/to different trailheads in the area are possible on request. It is ~15 minute drive from Takahara in the valley below.

Vegetarianism is not common in the Japanese countryside. Please double-check the Vegetarian Type which the service provider can accommodate to make sure that it meets your needs. Often being able to eat trace amounts of the ubiquitous Katsuo Dashi (fish stock) makes it easier to find options.

Access Information: Busses run daily from Kii-Tanabe Station and Hongu.
● ~50 minutes by bus from Kii-Tanabe Station to Kii-Okawa (bus timetable 1).
● ~1 hour 15 minutes by bus from Hongu to Kii-Okawa (bus timetable 2).
● ~2 minute walk from "Kii-Okawa 紀伊大川" bus stop.
● Kii-Okawa is a minor bus stop ~10 minutes east of Takijiri-oji and ~20 minutes west of Chikatsuyu-oji.

Shuttle Service: Evening shuttles (15:00~17:00) from Takijiri-oji, Takahara, and Chikatsuyu on request. When you arrive at the designated pick-up spot, please call the accommodation. The phone number will be given when the reservation is confirmed.

At Takijiri-oji: The Kumano Kodo Kan pilgrimage center (wifi available).

At Takahara: the Kiri-no-Sato Takahara rest area (pay phone and wifi available).

At Chikatsuyu: Hashiori-jaya next to Chikatsuyu-oji (wifi available, payphone nearby)

Morning shuttles (9:00~10:00) to Takijiri-oji, Takahara, Chikatsuyu and Tsugizakura-oji available on request.

For evening pick-up shuttles please request in advance.

NOTE: Evening shuttles may not be available everyday.
