Hotel Subaru is located on a bend in the Nishi-kawa River, a rare open area in the steep mountains characteristic to the Totsukawa village. The views of the mountain tops from the outdoor hot spring surrounding the inn are especially soothing in the soft evening light. Stargazing from these atmospheric baths is a popular way for guests to spend the evening.

This price plan includes both supper and breakfast.

In the mountains it gets dark quickly after sunset especially along the forested Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route. For your safety, it is highly recommended to properly plan to arrive at your accommodation before sunset.

Important Note for Kohechi Hikers

The Kohechi route (Koyasan to Hongu) runs through the central part of the Kii Peninsula from north to south, and is some of the steepest of all the Kumano pilgrimage routes, crossing three passes at altitudes of over 1,000 meters, including Obako Peak, along the way. This is more challenging than the Nakahechi route and recommended for advanced, experienced hikers only.

To ensure the safety of our guests, we require reservations in all the villages along the Kohechi route (Koyasan, Omata, Miura-guchi, and Totsukawa Onsen). Even if guests use KUMANO TRAVEL for part of the route, we will need to confirm the itinerary and accommodation for their entire Kohechi trip.

If we are unable to confirm, for your safety, partial requests will not be accepted.
