Lovely guesthouse
We had a no-meal stay, arrived at 7 pm and had to depart a mere 12 h later already, so our stay was short. However, we were welcomed warmly despite our non-existing Japanese skills. The guesthouse is pretty spacious, decoration is cute, and the futon was comfortable. The guesthouse is nicely located on the hillside, a few steps from the village center but beautifully located. Recommend 100%!

A delightful surprise
The guesthouse was a delightful surprise. While meals weren't offered, the convenience of nearby supermarket and restaurants more than made up for it. The house was beautifully decorated with lots of lovely ornaments. And the host was exceptionally warm and welcoming, going out of her way to make us feel at home. Even with the language barrier, we were able to connect with her thanks to a translation app. The traditional Japanese yukata provided in our room was a thoughtful touch.

Kodo- no- yado Kakidaira
We appreciated the friendly welcome and delicious bento dinner at this guesthouse a short walk from Chikatsuyu. Breakfast at the cafe was good but our lunch bento was a bit disappointing as it was only rice.

Great host
We were so glad we made it to our guesthouse with the heavy rain starting to come down. It has rained very hard through the night and all the next day. Our dinner was amazing but breakfast is ok and lunch is just 3 rice balls. We have to walk down the street and take the voucher card with along to collect them.

Very friendly hostess who greeted us at the front of the property. Accommodation was well set up and clean - we were very comfortable for the night. We wished we could have booked some meals here too which were probably delicious!

Most helpful host.
We got there early and host checked us in to put our backpacks before we head out for lunch.
She was so helpful and assisted us for our walk n bus next day, with bus schedules, bus stop and how long the walk will take us to our next point.

Das Kodo-no-Yado Kadikaira ist eine sehr empfehlenswerte Unterkunft. Der Empfang war sehr freundlich. Das Zimmer
groß und mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht. Das Essen war sehr gut. Frühstück und Lunchpaket erhält man am
nächsten Tag in einem kleinen Cafe im Ort.

Felt like home
We arrived dripping wet from head to toe, but our host showed nothing but kindness and hospitality. She even set us up with a shoe dryer, which we were able to use to dry our shoes for our next day of hiking. We were served a delicious homemade dinner on a kotatsu in the tatami room where we slept. Cannot recommend a home stay here enough to small groups who need to rest and recuperate after a long day of hiking.

This is my favourite stay in the Kumano Kodo Trip.
The Environment is beautiful, and the host is kind. The Dinner is delicious and fancy. I love the view from the window in the early morning. The house is surrounded by clouds, and look so amazing.

A beautiful rest after a long day of hiking
Staying here after hiking a day from Takijiri was so healing. The host was very kind and the place was beautiful. We came on a day where meals weren't offered, but it was an easy walk down to the superstore to buy dinner and breakfast/lunch for the next day. The place has a beautiful morning view and everything you might need to rest for the night.

Homely, spacious and peaceful
The space is enormous, modern and well-provisioned (I particularly appreciate the personal fridge, which enabled me to keep my food fresh for the early trek the following day). The homeowner is pleasant and helpful -- she was waiting for my arrival at the front door, and was really prepared for any questions or requests. The location is great because it is close to the supermarket in Chikastuyu (where I bought my meals for the long hike to Yunomine onsen). Overall, what a nice place to stay.

Wonderful place where to experience real Japanese hospitality. The hosts were very caring and attentive. Dinner was delicious and I was the only guest. Thank you for wonderful experience. PS. Only remark about breakfast coupon, I could not use it as the place was still cloused at 7:20 am.

Thank you very much to our host Mrs Watanabe. We really enjoy to discover a japan house and she was very kind to us. The house was lovely and very clean. The supper was tasty and quantities were adapted to hikers.
It was our best accomodation on Kumano Kodo.

Great stay in the beautiful Chikatsuyu
I stayed alone in the guesthouse and I had a great time. Everything was super clean and the host was very kind to me. Not far away is a supermarket, so I went there to buy some beer and enjoy it on the porch (which has a beautiful view) sitting in a hammock. It was definitely the best way I could end my first day of hiking. The breakfast I had the café nearby and was also very tasty.

Un accompagnement sans faille sur le Kumano Kodo
Merci à tout nos hôtes pour leur accueil chaleureux. Au début les futons m’ont fait mal au dos mais j’en ai entassé plusieurs ensuite et ça allait beaucoup mieux. Nous avons pu rester immergé dans la nature grâce aux hébergements très calmes.

良い宿でした
部屋は４人くらいまでは狭く感じることはないくらい広く、清潔でした(トイレやお風呂も)。また、海外の方向けかとは思いますが和風な物が色々飾ってあったり、テラスにハンモックがあったりと楽しめました。庭も手入れが行き届いている感じでした。
食事も、夜はお弁当ということであまり期待していませんでしたが、ボリュームも質も良かったように思います。おまけの一品もつけていただきましたし、食後の抹茶とお菓子も美味しかったです。
宿のオーナーも良い方で、構いすぎることなく、ちょうどよいくらいの対応をいただいたと感じています。
また、朝食のお店やスーパーも近く便利でした。
満足しています。

Perfect homestay experience
I had such a great welcome at Kakidaira. My homestay mum was very sweet, and even ran me a bath after a long day of hiking. She has a lovely home with a great view over the village, and the evening meal was excellent. A must-do for a personal, comfortable stay during your trek.
