Absolutely magnificent! Our host saw to every detail, she picked us up at Takahara rest stop. Food was home cooked. House was magnificent with a great story. We did not want to leave. A true gem.

The nicest place we stayed in on our Nakahechi hike
This was the nicest place we stayed in along the Kumano Kodo Nakahechi trail by far! It was even better than the Ryokan we stayed in later at Yunomine Onsen area.
The house itself was absolutely gorgeous and spotless. It used to be owned by a geisha. It was really warm and cosy inside the house. The wooden bathtub was also lovely for a hot bath too.
The host Miko was extremely lovely and helpful. She was very easy to communicate with over WhatsApp and spoke excellent English. She liaised with us to organise to meet us to pick up our luggage from outside the bus stop at Takijiri, and then later met up with us to pick us up from the Takahara rest stop after our 2hr hike. It was all streamlined and happened without a hitch. She was also kind enough to help us with parts of our itinerary that we hadn’t ironed out properly and we really appreciated her advice.
Dinner, breakfast and lunch were delicious. Dinner had a wide range of small Japanese dishes and what I think is called Shabu Shabu. Breakfast was eggs within toast, yoghurt and some fruit. I don’t think she is doing lunch boxes anymore this year but it was very delicious. Instead you can buy lunch on your second day at the co-op along the way.
Overall we would strongly recommend staying at this place! Thank you Miko for hosting us

Absolutely wonderful
This by far was our favorite stay through the entire kumano kodo journey. Located in a modern geisha house, this was one of the nicest homes I've ever been to in any country. The design was stunning, and the kaiseki dinner and breakfast were superb. The persimmon spring rolls in particular were something I'd never experienced prior and left quite an impression.

A wonderful stay
We had a wonderful stay at Komorian, probably the best accomodation of our whole holiday in Japan.
The house is beautiful, very well equiped, surrounded by nature.
The meals (dinner, breakfast and lunch box) were all excellent.
But the best is certainly the kindness of Miko, the hostess, whose presence and help was really appreciated for the beginning of our walk on the Nakahechi route... Thank you again Miko !

One of the best stays I’ve ever had in my life
Wow. Our stay at the Komorian (1 couple and 1 friend) was so gorgeous that we would’ve loved to stay longer! The host Miko-san is very friendly and organized, replied quickly and an amazing cook. The house is city and beautifully decorated. Our stay at the Komorian was probably be one of the best we ever had in our lifes, hands down. Thanks again for your kindness and the good time!

Wonderful experience at the Komorian
We really appreciated Miko picking us up from the Takahara rest stop. When we arrived to Komorian, it was such a beautiful location. We loved the view of the river from the window and house itself was exquisite. Miko also was a great host, and her meals were top notch!

Excellent stay
We had an exceptional stay at Miko’s house. It was extremely well appointed, comfortable and attention to detail was impeccable. Miko was a wonderful host and provided beautiful meals. Located a short distance from Takahara rest stop, Miko picked us up and dropped us off again in the morning. We had the best stay at Kormorian and it was a wonderful start to our walk on the Kumano Kodo. We thoroughly recommend staying at Kormorian guest house.

Wow!
Komorian was a beautiful house, very impressive! When I booked it I thought it would be shared with the hostess, but no, she stays in a separate space nearby. The house is private, in a serene wooded setting by a stream, with amazing workmanship throughout. The ofuro and wooden tub were unlike anything I had ever seen (gorgeous). There was a nice selection of reading material, and also a nice selection of alcoholic beverages for a fee. Our hostess was prompt (and flexible) in picking us up at the appointed time, and dropped us off when we wanted the next morning. She speaks English as a native and was happy to discuss logistics for the Kumano Kodo with us. The food was truly outstanding and plentiful, the best of the trip!

Memorable stay in a remarkable place
We enjoyed a delightful stay at Kamorian. Although we visited in the middle of winter, Miko made every effort to make the place very warm and comfortable for us. She cooked us a fantastic meal using local ingredients and was a very bubbly, kind and helpful host. The traditional house is set in a beautiful little garden by a trickling stream, and the atmosphere was so peaceful. The deep wooden hot tub and all the small details made for a memorable stay. Hot water for tea and a selection of cold beverages are available too.

A 5* Guesthouse - a perfect place!
Miko is a warm hostess who welcomes her guests in a very stylish former house of a geisha. There are several traditional rooms where you can relax wonderfully and the large living room with its own kitchenette is the perfect place to end the day in peace with a view of the river.
Miko is also an excellent cook and spoilt us with local dishes in the evening and for breakfast.
Unfortunately we only stayed one night!
We felt like we were in 5 star accommodation!

A benchmark for five stars.
Staying in a magnificently built traditional house created by craftsmen thirty years ago for a retried Geisha so she could continue to entertain her guests was so memorable. Not only the exquisite riverfront location but for the building, the bathtub and most of all the food and our host Miko. Staying here is a must on your Kumano.

5 stars all-around!
Komorian is the most beautiful home we've stayed at not just along the Kumano Kodo, but in Japan thus far! Miko-san is the most sincere and warm host (not to mention, an excellent chef). She puts so much thought into the details of the space. We really enjoyed our time and wish we could have stayed longer! This was our favorite stay for the entire itinerary.

Komorian geisha cottage
Komorian is an exceptional accommodation nestled in a valley next to a clear running stream. The architecturally designed interior is stunning and very comfortable. We felt spoilt. Our host, Miko, was delightful. She gave us much insight into the local area, as well as some useful tips. Our group really appreciated the multiple trips that Miko made to transport our luggage, and then our group between the Kumano Kodo trail and our accommodation at the times we chose. There was a lot of variety in each of the three Japanese meals that Miko prepared and all were delicious. Thank you Miko!

Best of the Best
We can't say enough good things about this place. Miko, the host, is truly a wonderful person who has put so much thought and effort into your stay here that you'll be amazed. The guesthouse itself is magical. No spoilers, but the history is intriguing and the story of how it came to be the Komorian is worth hearing from Miko. The living space is comfortable, welcoming, warm, and every detail is well-thought-out and beyond inviting. Then comes the food. Easily, EASILY, the best meal of our hike was had here. The food is made with love, and the effort and energy that Miko puts into it makes all the difference. This was one of our most memorable and enjoyable experiences from the entire trip we had, and we'll never forget Miko's kindness, generosity, and the beauty of her home. If you can, stay here, and consider two nights, if you can. We'll certainly return.
Thank you Miko! We'll always be grateful.

Very special
We had THE most special stay with Miko, the most warm caring generous host. She is also a great cook! The weather was wet on the first day of our Kumano Kodo walk. Miko met us in Takahara with towels and warmth, took us shopping for treats and welcomed us into her beautiful home. The warm lounge with under table heating has a full glass wall overlooking a creek - a great place to relax in yukata with gorgeous handmade cosy haori. The house is stunningly designed with an interesting history. Best tatami and doonas. Even a mini bar. We absolutely loved staying with Miko and were quite sad to leave. Thank you Miko for making our stay so very special.
