 Description

Rural Homestay Guest House

The Kumano Kodo Nagano Guest House is a century year old farm house lovingly renovated by Simon (from Hong Kong) and Yumiko.  The location always draws emotions of awe, either it be the views of the terraced orange and ume orchards lining the steep walls of the valley, the glimpse of the ocean in the glow of the evening setting sun, or the crazy winding narrow mountain roads to get there!  There are two guest rooms, the front and back.  The back guest room does not have views from the windows, but rather features a comfortable sitting room with sofa.  Facilities are shared with the guests and owners.  The minor Shiomi-toge pass section of the Kumano Kodo which runs from the Kii-Tanabe station to Takijiri-oji runs nearby the guest house.

Sorry, but we are not able to accept reservations for 0 to 2 years old. Thank you for your understanding.

Beautiful location & easy access to start of Kumano Kodo at Takijiri

Simons lovingly restored hundred year old mountain home. It’s a great place to stay. He picked us up from Tanabe station and dropped us on the following day to Takijiri where we started the Kumano Kodo.

A lovely stay

We very much appreciated Simon picking us up in Tanabe and dropping us at Takijiri-oji the following morning, which made the start of our hike very easy. The guesthouse was lovely and in a beautiful location up in the mountains. There are very limited facilities for food prep, as noted, so you must plan ahead for meals. It’s an old home that has been very well renovated, though perhaps not ideal for small children.

Lovely host

Lovely host who picked us up at the station and brought us to the starting point of de trail the next day. He was perfectly on time. Furthermore, he is very friendly and kind. The environment of this guesthouse is wonderful, with mountain views. And we liked the taste of the selfmade plum wine very much!

Simon, our host, was exceptional. His assistance before, during and after our stay at his guest house was both very much appreciated but also very professional. He made an extra effort to collect us at the Tanabe station at a late hour on our arrival and transported us to the start of our hike at Takahiri. The guest house was superb and my wife an I wish to thank him for his exceptional efforts.
