Corner of the world
Fudozaka Cottage is exactly what it looks like - a cosy cabin with an amazing view and everything we needed. If you are reading this far, this is your sign to book this experience. Mr. Ura is a warm and friendly host. His hard work and thoughtfulness showed in every part of the cabin. It is not in town and as part of that Mr. Ura could accommodate driving us into town and to the steps of Daimon-zaka. He showed us the available bus routes and worked with us in translation to make sure we were on the same page about our itinerary. The cabin is a place of calm away from the world.

Beautiful modern cabin
Our kind host picked us up at Nachi and dropped us off bright and early at Kii Katsuura. We were so sad not to have more time at this gorgeous, quiet cabin with all the modern conveniences. Would have loved to stay longer!!

Blueberry farm bliss!
This is a wonderful wooden chalet overlooking luscious kitchen garden and blueberry Orchard. Mr. Ure will pick you up from Nachi by the trail finishes, swing by the supermarket for groceries and drive you up into the mountains. Chalet is at around 3000 feet and on a clear day. You can see the Pacific Ocean as well as the multiple peaks and luscious green slopes of the Kumano Kodo and surrounding region. Mr Ure is a delight and communication made easy by his efficient iPad use!

A perfect house in the mountains
After the last and hardest day of our Kumano Kodo hike, this was the perfect way to finish. Our host could not have been more gracious. He picked us up and brought us to a grocery store, and helped us buy our supplies for the evening. He then drove us to his incredible home in the moutains, and even gave us a jar of delicious homemade blueberry jam, among other treats.
We absolutely loved our experience at this special home, hosted by a a very special man, and hope we can return again some day!

Kumano experience
This is the best place that my friend and I have stay for Kumano kodo. It's peaceful and quiet, tranquil where we can have a good rest. Love the cottage and sound of nature. The stars at night are quite a surprise. To me that stay in Ura San's cottage is Kumano experience ☺️
Host, Ura San is a kind soul and we are happy to have met him. He made us feel at home and helped us getting the groceries that we need for the stay in his cottage. I would love to stay at his cottage again!

Amazing mountain retreat
This cottage was a treat to stay in. The setting is gorgeous and so peaceful. Our host picked us up at the station, took us to the store to pick up food for dinner, and then picked us up the next morning to go back to the station. It is a 25min drive from the station. The cabin was cozy and we slept very well.

A warm embodiment of Japanese excellence
Everything that we enjoyed about our Kumano Kodo trip was embodied in our stay at this cottage. Ura-san is an industrious and generous man and the cabin he built reflects these traits. It is both homey and unique with beautiful pieces of wood craftily used throughout the cabin. He gave us a tour of the tallest water fall, blueberry jam from his garden for breakfast and encouraged us to build a fire to keep us warm. The view is ineffable as well. There is a great quote hanging in the bathroom that has stuck with me throughout our entire journey. Go and read it for yourself. You will walk away with something to remember.

A must stay during your time in Kumano
What a wonderful place to stay. After finishing our hiking, we booked the cottage to have a little rest our efforts. Our stay went way beyond this expectation! Our host was fabulous, and we had a wonderful time chatting together, helping us get supplies, and driving us to see the Daimonzaka after our stay. The cottage is so beautiful and well equipped, complete with log fire to make it super cosy in the evenings. Set on a stunning hillside overlooking row upon row of mountains into the distance, we could not fault the peaceful location. It was the perfect place to unwind and enjoy our last night in Kumano. We simply didnt want to leave!

Great Owner, Great Property
浦勝-san was a very nice person. He picked us up at the train station. It was a wonderful experience driving up the hill. The view was superb. The area is so quiet and peaceful. We cooked our own meal and enjoyed an amazing evening that we will remember for a long time. We had an early morning walk to 浦勝-san's field just outside the cottage to look at the produce, teas and crops he grown and it was refreshing and relaxing. I did some sketching at the patio, very enjoyable. I definitely recommend his cottage to people who will travel in this area.

Beautiful hut
The beautiful hut was located in the mountains. I indicated the pick-up timing in my booking through Kumano Travel, and later changed the timing via phone call through the help of a host in an earlier accommodation during the trip. The hut came with a well-equipped kitchen (stove, microwave, pots, pans, fridge etc.), a spacious Japanese-style bedroom and clean bathroom and toilet. The mountain view from the hut was beautiful. The friendly host let me pick some blueberries and peaches from his garden the next morning. Lovely stay!

Highlight of our trip
Mr Ura is amazingly sweet and generous, picking us up and taking us to the supermarket to buy some groceries to cook for dinner. He even gave us some frozen blueberries to enjoy in the heat! The view from the guesthouse is absolutely stunning and the house itself is cozy and makes you feel at ease. I cannot recommend a stay here enough! An absolute must if you are staying in the area!

Lovely mountain cottage with ocean views
This was such a unique and awesome place to stay. The very nice host picked us up at the train station and drove us ~20 minutes to the cabin, showed us around and how to start the wood stove. (The bedroom has a mini split heater, and the stove is to heat the main room.) We had already bought groceries near the station but he offered to take us to the store if needed. Unbelievable views, all the way down to the ocean--both sunset and sunrise views! The cabin was a bit rustic but really nice--futons were awesome and cozy. We loved using the wood bathtub too. With more time, would be a great place to stay an extra night and explore.

Thoughtful and warm hospitality
Mr. Fudozaka met us as arranged, and after stopping for provisions, took us to the cottage on his farm. We had a short but lovely stay. Our host was really interested in having us learn about each other. We'd love to go back and help pick blueberries in the summer. Whole cottage was cozy and warm - we were there on a very rainy night. View is amazing.

Incredible cottage!
Wow! Simply wow. We are so happy we had the chance of staying at this cottage! First the lovely owner picked us up and offered to go to the supermarket. Then he drove us in 20 minutes up the mountain to the wooden cottage and gently explained everything to us. The cottage is like a dream! Super cosy (nice fireplace) and it has a great view. All around the cottage is a great garden wich offers a lot of privacy. The place is really clean and the sheets smell great. The next day the owner drove us to the station. Thanks to the owner mr. Ura for letting us stay at his cottage and driving us! X G&B - The Netherlands

highlight of the honeymoon
staying at minamino fields was a true gift. the owner is a friendly, lovely blueberry farmer who picked us up at the train station and immediately took us shopping in the local market to get fresh-caught tuna and supplies for the evening. we then went to his lovely cottage up in the mountains, where we made a fire and started slicing sashimi. he then left us his lovely dog for the evening, and then came early the next morning to drive us to the train station. besides the incredible view and great nice, the owner himself makes this place truly special. just a wonderful man, and someone anyone hiking the kodo would be lucky to meet.
a very different way to end our hike across the kii-peninsula, and ultimately one of the highlights of our honeymoon.

Stunning Cottage in the Mountains
This place was perfect! Mr Ura and his daughter collected us from the bus stop and took us to the cottage. As we arrived we met the lovely Beru (Bell) the dog and Mr Ura stoked the fire. We were left on the farm by ourselves (plus Beru) for the night and thoroughly enjoyed a soak in the timber tub. The next day Mr Ura returned to do a little farm work and showed us the chickens and we helped him make some Blueberry jam! He became a good friend by the end of that day as he enjoyed conversation with us (mostly via a translator app) and he was so friendly and happy. The cottage itself is filled with little homely momentos and feels like the cottage was built by hand with beautiful timber beams throughout. I would recommend a minimum two night stay here (even though we could have stayed much longer!). It is a lovely place to stay and unwind.

One of the most enjoyable parts of our stay in Japan.
We had a delightful time staying at the cottage. It was wonderful to experience the Japanese countryside. The views from the cottage are stunning. Mr. Ura is really lovely and helpful and his blueberry jam is delicious.

Lovely rural cottage!
We stayed one day at the Minamino Fields Fudozaka Cottage, what a lovely experience. Here are some highlights:
- Ura-san is a lovely gentleman. His genuine care of the guests and eagerness to make sure you have a nice stay is evident.
- The cottage is lovely. We had wanted to experience what it's like to love in rural village in Japan and this gave us a taste of it. The view from the porch is just lovely.
- The farm is open to guest to explore. Ura-san gave us permission to eat some of his fresh blueberries from the bushes and fresh tomatoes for our salad! He also shared his home-made blueberry jam which was very delicious.
- His dog is very friendly. He's around overnight in the farm just to make sure we're safe.
- Word of caution for those driving on their own as we did. This is VERY HARD to find. Make sure you ask clearly for the direction. We relied on our GPS which got us to the vicinity. However there are no signs and no house number. We got lost in the nearby village as the sun was setting. Eventually one of the villager who knew some English came to our aid and directed us to the cottage. It was mildly stressful.
- All in all, we wished we have two days to spend in this wonderful place.

Lovely cabin with the most amazing view
The friendly Mr Ura picked us up at the station and took us to the grocery store before the drive up the mountains to the cabin. It's location is on the side of a mountain with the most amazing view looking down onto the ocean below. It is rustic but comfortable, as long as you don't mind the local wildlife! Breakfast on the spacious deck in the morning was the best. You cook your own meals here so I would recommend making the most lavish meal possible, it really compliments the accommodation. Mr Ura was kind enough to give us some of his homemade blueberries and blueberry jam, which you can see growing in the garden. Had the best night's sleep here of the whole Kumano Kodo trek. You wake up and look straight out onto the mountains and ocean. Fantastic.

Spectacular views, one of a kind cottage
We stayed at the cottage for one night. Mr. Ura and his daughter picked us up at kii-katsura station and kindly gave us a ride to the cottage. It was a pleasure meeting Mr. Ura and his daughter and we had a very pleasant conversation on our way to the cottage. The cottage is clean and cozy, quite spacious and tastefully decorated and has a breathtaking view of the mountains. We couldn't have been happier about our stay and would love to visit again soon.
