I had a nice night here. The host was very friendly, and kindly picked me up from the rest stop at the end of the first leg of the hike and stopped at a combini on the way to the guesthouse so I could pick up some food and snacks for dinner and the next day's lunch. The house was very clean, the futon was cozy, and the backyard was beautiful, full of gardens and a stream. I had the whole place to myself! The house could fit quite a few people, so I imagine this could be a great choice for a larger group hiking together.

Beautiful and peaceful out of the way guesthouse with a garden and peaceful stream flowing through
Nice and clean rural guesthouse with a beautiful atmosphere. I slept incredibly well here. The owner was very friendly with a happy attitude and we had a good chat during the drive. You can not walk to this guesthouse but the owner is happy to pick you up from Takahara rest stop and drop you off the next day, with a stop at Family Mart for you to grab your dinner that night. He uses What's App to organize so be sure to have it. I finished my trek early so got to relax here and read a book on a bench out back by the stream.
Breakfast was simple but filling and honestly it was fun to cook it my eggs on the Japanese style hot plate, I enjoyed that more than if someone had cooked for me.

Perfect peaceful place to start the Kumano Kodo!
We had an excellent stay at this guesthouse, on our first night on the Kumano Kodo. Michihiro-san was extremely welcoming, and we really enjoyed speaking to him. He was kind enough to pick us up and drop us off on the Kumano Kodo trail and drive us to a local konbini to get supplies for dinner and snacks for the hike. The guesthouse was very clean and in a beautiful calm location. We slept with the window open so we could listen to the sound of the stream - "Seseragi" or せせらぎ, as Michihiro-san taught us. Breakfast was copious and easily prepared in the kitchen. The futons were also very comfortable! Thank you for this excellent stay!

Authentic digs in Japanese house
Kubo is lovely friendly host - picked us up from Takahara rest area - drove us all the way to Lawson to get food as self catering - and back to his former home - which had all the amenities u need. Lovely stay highly recommend - a river runs through it

Idyllic location by a creek!
We loved this home looking on to a creek, which lulled us to sleep after a day of hiking. The host was very considerate and we had a very comfortable stay. Recommended!

Beautiful location and very friendly host
We had a lovely stay at Stream Ishiburi. The hosts were excellent and the accommodation well equiped. We were driven to a convenience store by the hosts to buy dinner on the way which was very good. The house is right next to a stream in a beautiful location.

Wonderful stay
I had a really nice stay, calming and relaxing. I was picked up and all communication went very smoothly, both through Whatsapp before our meeting and during my stay. I was also driven to the supermarket and to the bus the next day. The typical Japanese mattress was the most comfortable I had on the whole trail.
I would return to the Stream Ishiburi anytime!

House owner is nice and house is close to nature, a garden with lots of plant & flower, can listen the river water passing. but it is far to have dinner, and only convenience store available.

Well-maintained and peaceful accommodation
The accommodation is a bit off the hiking trail, but it is also easily accessible on foot.
I was the only guest, so I had the common areas all to myself. The host was warm and very accommodating. The accommodation feels quite new and very well-maintained. Highly recommended!

We had the whole place to ourselves. A wonderful cottage surrounded by trees. Kobo San (owner) was gracious and very helpful. Picked us up at the Takahara Rest area and dropped us off the next day to continue our hike. He also stopped in a convenience store along the way so we could stock up on provisions since his cottage was quite remote. Breakfast is simple and adequate.

It was a lovely place to stay, clean, private ans with great amenities. The owners were very accommodating and friendly.
It was disappointing to find out that dinner and lunch were not provided and we were taken to the store to buy our own. Also, the cleaning products used to clean floors, were very strong smelling ( one of our member had sensitivities to strong smells).

Generous soul we were so happy to meet
Beautiful property and an easy free shuttle to the property and back from the Kumano trail. The owner even took us to the store to get dinner. Only one party per night. Great breakfast items. Highly recommend.
