Minshuku Wago
Perfect place to stay right on the trail. Comfy bed. Very clean bathroom facilities (shared with other guests). Lovely fresh meals prepared by the host right at your table. Not everything was to my taste but I did not do hungry. Lunch box was great- really enjoyed snacking on throughout the day.

A wonderful stop along the Kumano Kodo
Ike took great care of us. Very comfortable room, delicious food (perhaps the best we had all trip!), superb local knowledge and great conversation. Ideally situated in town. Highly recommend staying at Minshuku Wago. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful host
We had a great stay at this accommodation. We had a wonderful host, Ikesan. Dinner, breakfast and pack lunch are superb. Highly recommended for Kumano kodo trekkers!

Amazing!
I wasn't sure when seeing the outside of the guesthouse for the first time. However, once I ws greeted by the host (who was exceptional) and went inside, it was fantastic. The guesthouse is beautiful and comfortable. The meals (including our bento box to-go) was great! I highly recommend Minshuku Wago!

The homestay location is easy to find! The boss is very enthusiastic! I can speak Chinese, Japanese, English, and probably also Korean! And very fluent! I will make another reservation if I go next time!

熊野古道歩きには絶好の立地
東京、神奈川から還暦をとっくにすぎた爺さん4人で乗用車で出向きました。1日目車移動。和合さんに泊まって2日目朝からバスで滝尻王子へ。それから1日歩いて和合さんに連泊。
3日目は本宮大社、熊野三山をめぐり那智勝浦に宿泊後、4日目車移動。
結構なハードスケジュールでしたが、若い頃から憧れの熊野古道を歩く事が出来ました。
和合さんには、とても良くして頂きました。
立地も最高で、バス停まで秒で行けます。
ご主人は日英中韓堪能で、他の宿泊者は外国の人ばかりでしたが、スムーズに会話していました。外国の人も安心して利用できますね。

nice owner and nice meals
I had a great night during the stay in Minshuku Wago. Its location is near Chikatsuyu-oji, a lovely town there are art museum(close on mon), a supermarket and several restaurants. You should try the home make dinner, breakfast and bento lunch by the guesthouse owner.

The owner was very hospitable and welcoming. His English was excellent! The location is so perfect--it is right when you enter the town and it is very central to the antique shop, a museum, and the river. The accommodations were very nice and the food was great! The baths were clean--just a bit far from our room.

The inn is clean and nice, and the owner is a great cook, performing his culinary skill right in front of guests and a home brewer where you can taste his plum wine. However price is abit on the steep side.

This was our favourite stay on the Kumano Kodo. We loved the communal meals and chatting to Ike and the other guests. We enjoyed the okonomiyaki dinner too. If it was possible to give this stay 6 stars, we would!

Awesome Guesthouse
This guesthouse is fantastic and the owner, Ike, is a legend, I can only give nothing but high praise to Minshuku Wago. Location is perfect, right on the main street and with a bus stop just down the street. Ike is very easy to chat with and the the food (I had dinner, breakfast and a packed lunch) that I had was delicious. I'd happily stay here again and I'll recommend it to anyone hiking the Kumano Kodo.

Location is perfect, very easy to find, landlord is very kind and can speak at least English, Japanese and Mandarin. Clean and comfort, meals are wonderful, be sure to order the second lunch box, delicious!

A VERY NICE EXPERIENCE
Traditional guestroom was very comfortable. Meals were great (Okonomiyaki in the evening + magnificent bento for the next day of pilgrimage). People were very nice and location is just perfect. Only downside is that bathroom and toilets are shared with other guests but this is also part of the experience!

Ike-san was an awesome host. His English is really good and communication was easy. We arrived a bit earlier than anticipated but they were able to accommodate us.
The room was spacious and beds were comfy. The bathroom/shower is shared.
Highly recommend the Okonomiyaki experience. We stayed with a few other travellers and socializing over dinner was pretty fun. Breakfast was also very good.
The location is a short walk away from the bus stops in Chikatsuyu.

Lovely stop on the Kumano Kodo
This minshuku was quiet and peaceful. Our host was attentive and sociable. We had a great okomomyaki dinner made by our host at the table. The communal dinner table was a lovely way to meet fellow guests and travellers.
The bathroom were basic but adequate. The rooms were very comfortable.

Fantastic Accommodation
Highly recommend staying here. It’s right on the trail, and only a few minutes walk from the Oji, and the bus stops.
Ike-san was an awesome host, and did a great job of making the dinner very fun and sociable.
The meals were delicious, and we even got to help prepare the okonomiyaki.
