Almost fantastic
Yes, almost perfect, because the only thing that was a little disappointing was the room. It was a very good size, quite large actually, with excellent sea views and a balcony perfect for spending time reading and writing; but it did have one drawback, and that was that it smelled of food. I don't know if it was because it was located above the kitchens, but the smell was unpleasant when you first entered until you got used to it. Everything else was fantastic; the hot springs were fabulous; and the breakfasts and dinners were fantastic, varied, and delicious. Of course, the staff was also great, they provided me with a map so I could hike a little around and enjoy the beautiful sea scenery. I would definitely go back.

Wow, the views from the room and spa were amazing! The hospitality was excellent, and we loved the room. We left some stuff at the hotel, and someone from the hotel was really nice and brought it to us at the train station when we went back to Osaka.

A luxurious finish.
Luggage transfer worked perfectly. Our cases were waiting for us in the hotel room. Spacious and clean. Delicious meals were a set menu but with full access to the buffet. The complex was more resort like and about 50 minutes away from Nachi Taisha by bus and taxi so it was different from the more personal, intimate stays along the actual route.

This place was amazing to stay at after our hiking trip. The food was amazing and staff lovely. The most amazing part of this place was the Onsen which was outdoors overlooking the ocean. There were a number of onsens to choose from. I can't tell you how fabulous it was. We even sat out there in the onsen one day in the pouring rain and it was fabulous. The location of this hotel is in the national park and we enjoyed some walking in the area

A memorable place to stay
We loved our stay at the National Park Resort. The guestroom was roomy, the view was nice, the baths were fabulous and the staff were lovely. We were disappointed with any beaches nearby but enjoyed the walk to the lighthouse and surrounding area. We would stay here again, mainly for the baths but the meals were also very nice.

Fantastic stay. Would recommend the room with ocean view. Felt like a high class resort. The onsen was beautiful, wonderful, fantastic and soothing. The shuttle bus service from station to hotel was great!

Superb, a real treat
Our room was a traditional Japanese room with plenty of space and a lovely sitting area. The facilities were great with the most amazing outdoor onsen overlooking the sea. The location is about 15 minutes out of the town but the hotel shuttle was very efficient.

A great ocean view getaway
the property and lobby looked dated at first but the rooms seem refurbished and had a nice modern jap style. The views of the room was great with certain angles overlooking the pacific ocean. We were able to see the sunrise from the ocean right from our rooms which was stunning.
We knew there was an onsen but the view was unbelievable looking into the ocean. We visited the onsen 3 times and couldnt get enough of it.
Food was great w buffet sides.
While the location is 20min drive from kii katsuura hotel, the hotel shuttle service made it easy to reach the hotel.
All in all, the 1 day stay was quite memorable and a highlight.

部屋自体はリノベーションされ、おしゃれでした。部屋から朝日も見られます。私はテラスから見ましたが、絶景でした。露天風呂からもおそらく見れるのではないでしょうか。食事は値段の割にお弁当形式で、味は悪くないけど、量や質は足りない感じ。送迎バスがあるので、車なくても利用はしやすいです。

We stayed here after walking the Kumano Kodu. The rooms are spacious and if you get a ocean view as we did this makes for a great stay. The best thing about the hotel is the Onsen which is fantastic. Make sure you participate, early morning in an outside hot pool overlooking the Pacific is not to be missed. Food is fine, like elsewhere in rural Japan; it’s either raw, it has been cooked at some point in the past and is now cold or you cook it yourself. The beer from the vending machines is cold. We enjoyed our stay very much.

This hotel is a 15 minute drive from Katsuura. Shuttle bus picks up at Kii Katsuura Station. Room has nice views of the sea. The Onsens were outside and very nice. I used them twice! Front desk was great. If you take the train to Nagoya double check times.

Nancy Resort Hotel
Beautiful location. Excellent friendly shuttle service. Although the outdoor baths are not natural, this is the best outdoor bath or onsen I have ever had in Japan. Sitting there at evening time watching the sunset and overlooking the ocean is an unforgettable experience which I will never forget. The hotel itself is immaculate and extremely well cared for. I cannot speak too highly of this place.

Wonderful experience in the middle of the a great nature
The hotel is greatly situated in the middle of the nature.
Meals were really great, specially considering the number of people served. The room was nice, with a beautiful view on the sea.
The baths are great with a large variety of waters, only point which should be mentioned before is that tattoos are forbidden in the bathing area!!! Not a great surprise to find out at the last moment.

Really liked the design and feel of this hotel, retro and interesting. Were disappointed to get a room however with minimal sea views on low floor (more looking over the car park). Room otherwise was great. The onsen was really special - we were able to watch dolphins at sunrise across the Pacific Ocean!

We did not like this place at hall. It's terribly far from everything (OK, that's on us), and they did not give us a room with a bathroom as we had requested. Plus, you have to pay for the onsens, even if you do not use them. Shuttles from and to the station do not match with any of the trains hours, which is completely stupid, so you end up walking all the way up to the train station. This place should not be in the Kumano Kodo suggestions, considering the low service quality compared to all others.

If you like hot spring baths with views then this is the place to go. The view is so nice. I found a rock in the outdoor bath and watched the ocean for over an hour, both night and morning! The room was simple Japanese style, also with a nice view. It is a bit of a trek from the Kii-Katsuura station but if you use the free shuttles it is fine. I loved walking around the forested peninsula, tiny enough to get around, but has some wild views. The food good and plentiful, but if I would have to pick out one thing to be improved on it would be the meals. They did not speak any English, but were very friendly. I would stay here again.

Excellent place to stay
This hotel is a bit out of the way, but you're rewarded by baths that overlook the Pacific Ocean. My husband and I stayed there for one night and found that we were practically the only foreigners there (which was great!). The dinner and breakfast buffets were excellent, especially if you enjoy sashimi / seafood. The only downside is that we didn't realize that the shuttle from the train station to the hotel was by reservation only -- we ended up needing to catch a taxi, which was an unexpected cost.

More Dated Resort Than National Park
It was o.k.; more dated resort than national park. It's a sprawling place place with hundreds of couples and families on a get-away. Unless you have a car, you are restricted to the resort since it is a fair distance from a town or train station. Probably the best feature of this hotel is the coastal trails that offer rocky cliff vistas and a look at a Japanese coastal hammock (forest). The forest was beautiful and the trails fairly extensive. There are no balconies to the private rooms and the windows open only a few centimeters so catching ocean breezes is greatly reduced. The meals are buffet style combined with some courses served by staff. The emphasis was more on quantity of food than quality, but it was good and fun nevertheless (especially the more you drink!). The room reservation was for "Ocean View" but it was about 33 percent ocean view, 33 percent vegetation and 33 percent of a roof and enormous concrete terrace. It is sad but I believe true to say that Japanese nationals are given priority on the best rooms and non-Japanese are assigned the less desirable rooms. (In fairness, this is true throughout Japan and not just at this hotel.) Seating at dinner is assigned and the rule of best location for Japanese nationals also applies at dinner. It was o.k. but I would try to find better, even if I had to increase the budget.

Beautiful setting, helpful staff, lovely baths
We liked that this is part of the National Park Service and it was well worth the price. It was certainly a luxurious place to stay after our hike. The outdoor rotemburo, overlooking the ocean, was particularly lovely. The food was amazing and the staff was very helpful, again despite our sad lack of Japanese language. They helped get our luggage after the transport company had not yet delivered it. You do have to take a shuttle there from the station so take this into account when planning your travel. However, it is very easy to take the shuttle they provide free of charge. The room was very nice. We only wish we had more time to explore the hotel grounds and surrounding area--it is a very beautiful place on the coast.

great outdoor onsen
This was the prefect place to finish the walk. The resort is quite a distance from Katsuura so you need to make sure you get the shuttle bus.
The location is very nice in the national park with views of the sea. There are 2 paths from the resort to the rocky shoreline. The rooms are spacious and we had a reasonable view of the sea. The dinner provided was a buffet and was quite ok. Wonderful outdoor onsen looking out over the trees and the sea - the best aspect of the resort for me. Pleasant, helpful staff
