A Private Riverside Retreat
River Side Hotel MOKA is a quiet, private accommodation along the Ishiburi River just a 4-minute drive from Takijiri-oji, the starting point of the Kumano Kodo Nakahechi route, and 10 minutes from Takahara rest area. The owner is an architect who decided he wanted to share local hospitality to Kumano Kodo visitors. The accommodation is named after the owner's dog, "Moka," a beloved toy poodle (but does not live on site). Guests have use of a dining area, two bedrooms, and shower and washing area, and they can choose either BBQ or a convenient bento-style meal for supper. Shuttle service is available to and from Takijiri and Takahara. With only one group per day, MOKA is a great riverside retreat.

FISH STOCK: Often being able to eat trace amounts of the ubiquitous Katsuo Dashi (fish stock) makes it easier to find vegetarian options.
GLUTEN: For those who are not intorelant to gluten or Celiac then choosing Gluten Free "With Miso and Soy Sauce" will increase your options.
NOTE: It is difficult and not culturally sensitive to change meal requests, or make new meal demands, onsite when you arrive at accommodations. Meal options must be confirmed during the reservation process and respected during your visit.
