Description
Ryujin Onsen Inn
Shimogoten or "Lower Palace" is one of the original inns of Ryujin Onsen, having been constructed by the Feudal Lord of the Kishu Domain in 1639. The present Ryokan is built around parts of the older facility, which can be viewed in the lobby. Notice the low ceiling in these classic rooms...to prevent the use of swords! Guestrooms look out over the Hidaka-gawa River. There are multiple hot spring baths filled with Ryujin Onsen’s famous silky smooth, beautifying waters: Hinoki-wood bath, rare Tatami bath and a shared gender outdoor rock bath, perched on the river bank. For those who prefer private bathing, rooms with an ensuite rotenburo outdoor bath are a good choice. Meals are traditional, seasonal Kaiseki cuisine made with fresh local ingredients.

Type A Type B Type C Type D Type E Vegetarianism is not common in the Japanese countryside. Please double-check the Vegetarian Type which the service provider can accommodate to make sure that it meets your needs. Often being able to eat trace amounts of the ubiquitous Katsuo Dashi (fish stock) makes it easier to find options.
