Taxi Service
Shirahama Daiichi Taxi is a transportation company that covers the southern portion of the Kii Peninsula plus Koyasan. It is based in the Tanabe and Shirahama area. They have normal taxis as well as Jumbo taxis.
Below are set plans but we can arrange charter service to any destination. The Jumbo Taxi charter service is excellent for those wanting to see the region smoothly and efficiently without the restrictions of public transport or the responsibility of rental cars. On time and ahead of schedule
We wanted to have an extra day of hiking, and this taxi ride made this possible for us. We traveled from Nan-In Temple to the beginning of the Kumano Kodo trail.

Un voyage parfait !
La réservation de la course s'est faite en ligne. Le taxi était 10 minutes en avance au rendez-vous fixé, la voiture était confortable, climatisée, le chauffeur a été exceptionnellement sympathique, nous avons discuté pendant toute une partie du trajet entre Hongu et la gare JR de Tanabe. Taxi Service from Koyasan to Tanabe City
Our driver was right on time pulling up to the temple. Since it was a 2+ hour drive, the driver pointed out interesting features along the way and was very helpful answering any questions we had. The car was spotless and we felt very safe with the good driving skill. Thank you for such a helpful service instead of taking the much longer bus.

Convenient service
We (three adult males) arranged a standard taxi to bring us back from Hongu to KiiTanabe. Taxi was on time, helpful and professional driver. Trip took 1hr 10mins, somewhat faster than the bus, and very comfortable. Bit costly, but not that much more expensive than the bus once you factor in the cost for luggage shuttle for our bags as well as the bus fare. And way more convenient - after days of walking we were glad to have an easy option.

Taxi was prompt . Very courteous driver. Spacious and clean. However I thought price from Koyasan to Takahara was expensive, less expensive on other web sites. Price not accurate on web site.

Our taxi driver was very professional and we enjoyed our drive from Kii Tanabe to Koyasan. The taxi was very comfortable and very clean. Our driver even made a short stop mid way through our journey to stretch our legs and go to the toilet. We would certainly recommend this service.

Convenient and comfortable way to travel the area.
We are a family of four. The buses in the area weren't at good times for us, and they don't look to have room for carrying large bags, so the luggage transfer service would be needed. The taxi option looked expensive, but once we compared it to the bus fare for four plus luggage transfer the difference wasn't so much ? and we got to nominate the time that suited us, with travel right to the door (really good in case of rain). The driver was there waiting for us at the appointed time, with a brand new jumbo taxi. We had a very smooth and comfortable ride from Tanabe station to Chikatsuyu. We later used the same service for travel from Chikatsuyu to Hongu, and then the long leg from Hongu back to Tanabe, a positive experience each time. The small amount extra for the jumbo taxi was totally worth it, especially for the longer trips (Hongu to Tanabe was about 90 minutes). We're not big by western standards, but with four of us a normal taxi would have been too cramped.

A?bit struggle to find the taxi
The taxi service was great, but we had some difficulties finding the taxi. We was staying at Jofoku-in, but in a note (in the booking-reply) we was told to meet the driver at Kongo Sanmaiin (10 min. walk from Jofoku-in). We eventually met the driver at Jofoku-in. At this point, instructions could have been clearer. And also, it would be nice to get a number to call before-hand.

A safe and comfortable ride to Mt Koya
We were very happy with the taxi rental service of Shirahama Kanko. The jumbo van was spacious and all five of us found the ride pleasant and smooth. The driver was very good and even gave us a tasty omiyage at the end of the ride. Thank you to Shirahama Kanko taxi!

Great navigation
The road from Koyasan to Takijiri is very windy and I almost felt sick. Even though the drive itself only took two hours, the driver kindly stopped several times for toilet breaks and at lookout giving us the chance to take a breather.

Great, friendly service from sincere driver
Driver was punctual and polite as expected. Despite limited english, he tried to communicate with us about the surroundings, weather, etc. He even voluntarily took a small detour to show us a 400 year old tree that is of some significance to the local residences.

Good service from the taxi driver
The driver is very good. Although he do not know Chinese and understand very limited English, he tried his best to assist us during the trip. perfect taxi experience
we were traveling from koyasan to yunomine onsen in the middle of winter and didn't feel like dealing with the 5+ hours of cable cars, trains and buses with 5+ transfers to get there. instead we booked a taxi through the kumano travel website. the driver arrived at our shukubo exactly on time and the 2 hour drive to our next destination was beautiful. our driver was super friendly and we were very comfortable. not cheap but worth the splurge for weary travelers.

駅からのバスの時間に合わせるとゆっくり食事をする時間も取れなかったので、観光付き送迎を利用しました。バスであれば立ち寄る事の出来なかった観光スポットにも寄れたし、当初の予定にはなかった大銀杏もドライバーさんが寄ってくださいました。 ゆっくり自分たちのペースで回れましたので、利用して本当に良かったです。

Voyage dans le Kumano
At Nagoya we rented a car. We went to Ise and slept at Futami. Next we went from the Meoto Iwa Rocks to the Kumano Nachi Taisha and we let the car next to our hotel in Shingu. The next day we went by bus to the start of our kayak trip, sailed on the Kumano gawa and visited the Kumano Hatayama Taisha and slept at Yunomine Onsen. We walked on the akagi Goe and visited the Hongu Taisha. The next day we took a taxi from Yunomine Onsen to Koya San the first day of O Bon.

Excellent guided tour
Despite the fact we were told the driver does not know english, we had a great time touring some of the Oji shrines along the Kumano Kodo. This is a great way to experience the area if you only have little time (or in our case, lack of energy) to walk the Kodo. Our tour guide "Mansan" was very funny and made every effort to communicate with us about some of the customs/ details of the Oji shrines we have visited. Highly recommended!

Review of two day walk on Nakahechi
I enjoyed the walk from Takajiri Oji to Hongu, the baggage transport worked well and the accommodation was very good at Minshuku Tzugizakura and Blue Sky Guesthouse. The Minshuku picked us up and treated us like family. The Blue Sky Guesthouse is close to a bus stop for the bus to Shigu Railway Station, it is very modern and very comfortable. The walk up from Takajiri Oji is a bit difficult for the first 1.6 km but then gets easier.

A Bus of Our Own
Leading a party of six somewhat bulky Westerners, I made the decision to hire a Jumbo taxi. Whilst the cost might put some people off, for a party such as ours (Six people, plus substantial luggage) the Jumbo taxi seemed like a good idea. We were more than pleased with the prompt arrival of the taxi, and our parties needs were ably explained to the driver by the friendly and courteous Kumano Travel staff. Our mini bus ride up to Yunomine onsen was an absolute pleasure, including as it did a small break at the starting point of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route. We were delivered to our ryokan feeling far more relaxed than if we had had to negotiate the bus network with our luggage. Thank you very much to all who helped make our trip so memorable.

便利です
時間が自由に設定できるのが大きなメリットです。自家用車と組み合わせると、とても便利に熊野古道を歩くことができます。料金も、割り勘にすれば路線バスと変わりません。ベテランの運転手さんは、大阪の窪津王子から熊野三山まで、御幸のルート340kmを全線踏破したそうです。驚きました。
