THE BEST PLACE TO STAY IN KAWAYU ONSEN
WE TRUELY ENJOYED OUR STAY AT MINSUKU TATESHI. THE LOCATION IS EXCELLENT, RIVER FRONT, CLOSE TO HOT SPING. THE PLACE IS CLEAN. THE STAFFS ARE FRIENDLY AND HLEPFUL. THE FOOD IS THE BEST. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE IF YOU ARE IN THE AREA.

Minshuku Tateishi Loved it!
We can't say enough about how helpful the owners son, Hiro, was with facilitating our plans. The meals were fantastic. Hiro even showed us films of his father and him using traditional methods to catch the river fish nearby, as their family has done for generations. The outdoor onsen was just across the bridge and in the guesthouse was a great hot bath.

Best lodging, best service.
Host was waiting at the bus stop for us. It rained throughout the trek, we were all soaking wet. He handed us towels on arrival, offered laundry service and best of all boots drying service!! My booking was for 2rooms for 4 females n 3 males. Host very generously gave us 4rooms - 3x2pax, 1x1pax. Delicious dinner and breakfast. Lovely outdoor onsen is just outside Minshuku across the bridge to other side of the river. Host and family were friendly, kind and generous.

Feels like home
Nothing beats the warm welcome from the house owner and the delicious meal. Really had a great time here after long hike, so I strongly recommend for solo travel to stay here

Nice room with good meals
This is a nice place to stay right next to the river. The room is simple and comfortable. The food was fresh (fish came from the river) and there were written explanations about how to eat it. They provide clothes and footwear for the outdoor bath by the river. The indoor bath was also nice. The shower didn’t seem to have hot water but you can use a small bowl to mix spring water with cold water for washing.

Perfect food, view, hospitality and private onsen
I stayed 1 night in Minshuku Tateishi and truly enjoyed their hospitality, politeness and the richness of the dinner, breakfast. Both dinner and breakfast was fantastic with so many dishes, including japanese barbeque and unique tastes from the area. The booklet describes the food in the menu was excellent with all the details in english. Public Onsen just at the next door and they have given it's entrance ticket as complimentary. Inside the guesthouse there is also a nice private onsen. It is a family run guesthouse so you feel like you live with the family rather than just a guesthouse. The room does have a view of Oto river. Bus stop is 50 meters away. Strongly recommend if you are planning to stay in Kawayu Onsen.
