Lovely guesthouse in Chikatsuyu, with entertaining host
A warm welcome by the host. It is a relatively large guesthouse that can house about 12-13 people if full. There are two levels, upstairs and downstairs - each level sharing one bathroom/toilet. The dinner was delicious and we tried various local Japanese specialties. The host is a great entertainer, making dinner fun. The Japanese curry for breakfast was a slight let-down.

Memorable stay at Chikatsuyu
Wonderful stay at Chikatsuyu - totally recommended. Super easy to find after the walk and conveniently located across the bus stop. Excellent hospitality by the owner. Ike-san is really kind and funny. He gave you a warm welcome with attentive house keeping. Dinner time was memorable, everyone sit together on the table - good chat, yummy food, many laughter, many surprising (but yummy!) food and beverages offered. FYI love the drawings on the egg in the bento box! Thank you for the unforgettable food and hospitality! I’ll definitely stay here again should I do Kumano Kodo track again in the future.

Great Host
The host is very passionate, introduce and give us try a lot of authentic Japanese food. The shared bathroom is very clean. close to supermarket This is highly recommend.

Minshuku Wago
Perfect place to stay right on the trail. Comfy bed. Very clean bathroom facilities (shared with other guests). Lovely fresh meals prepared by the host right at your table. Not everything was to my taste but I did not do hungry. Lunch box was great- really enjoyed snacking on throughout the day.

A wonderful stop along the Kumano Kodo
Ike took great care of us. Very comfortable room, delicious food (perhaps the best we had all trip!), superb local knowledge and great conversation. Ideally situated in town. Highly recommend staying at Minshuku Wago. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful host
We had a great stay at this accommodation. We had a wonderful host, Ikesan. Dinner, breakfast and pack lunch are superb. Highly recommended for Kumano kodo trekkers!
