Enjoyable Finale
To be honest based on the cost, our expectations were quite high, but the room whilst clean and comfortable was quite small, and the onsen was tiny (2 people maximum) with no access in the morning. However the staff were excellent and the meals were delicious accompanied by very good local sake from Shingu, as well as free-flow ice cream from the fridge. A convenient place to stay at the Kumano Kudo finale, but the cost is simply a reflection of limited options close to the Nachi Grand Shrine. Thank you.

Much needed reset after day 5
This place is fantastic. Do yourself a favor and book this instead of getting on a bus ride to get into town. Day 5 is a steep ascent and long hike. It is also very likely to rain, as the rain comes in this part of the mountain most days. When we got here, I could not imagine having to sit on a bus in my wet clothes while I was tired. This place was a godsend. They have thought of everything. For a very small fee; you can do laundry. They give you things to dry your shoes and yourself. The rooms and the Onsen overlook the waterfall. One of the best parts is; you can head back over to the temple after breakfast. We caught it as it was opening and had the place almost to ourselves. Not to mention, we’re much happier after a hot shower and fresh clothes.
