Great place to stay. The host were very helpful. And food was really good. The location is perfect. Close to the train/ bus station and to the local restaurants. The guest house was very comfortable. It allowed us to spread out and get organized prior to our hike. I would highly recommend staying here.

Great option
This was a wonderful accommodation, just near the station, with an easy check-in through the neighbouring hotel. No meals, because it’s in the area with lots of restaurants, so that was fine. Unconscious It was actually difficult to find a restaurant that was open on the night we were there, so maybe that should be emphasised in the, recommendations on the website. Overall wonderful.

Great way to start the Kumano Kodo
More spacious than any hotel you can find for the price. Tall people may have to be cautious as the house is old and has lower than average bits.
It's further from the station than some other lodgings in Tanabe but it's an easy stroll to and from it.
The hotel managing the property provided us with two really wonderful meals. A Japanese breakfast and a bento lunch. Great way to stare day one!

Great Starting Point
Hanaiori Guest House is in a pretty ideal location in Tanabe, a quick walk to all of the restaurants, shops, and transit. The spacious guest house was comfortable and kept very warm when it was chilly outside. The hosts were kind and friendly, the breakfast was delicious, and the lunch box for our hike was amazing.

Hanaiori Guest House
The guest house is an extended set of apartment like buildings in a busy neighborhood. 5 minutes from the main square and close to restaurants and stores. About a 20 minute walk to the beachfront.
Very large traditional space with futons on the floor. Our unit was comfortable and clean and had an entire kitchen too.
I'm rating the meals a 5 though we only had a breakfast and a bento box. The bento was one of the best we had during the whole trip!

過ごしやすい環境
女性4人で利用しました。どの部屋も十分な広さで、和室、洋室の良さを感じる雰囲気のいいお家でした。お布団もひいておいてくださるところも良かったです。寝室は基本二階ですが、一階で寝たところ次からは一階にひいてくれたところもありがたかったです。
ただ、ところどころに小さな段差があるので、そこが要注意です。40歳～60歳の全員がつっかかりました。
総合的に全員満足しています。ありがとうございました。

Accomodation and b'fast
A lovely way to start our time in Tanabe. We were a family of 5 traveling the Komono Kodo trail and this was an overnight stay before catching the bus to the trailhead. We had a whole house to ourselves. Close to the station and bus depot. There was a lovely restaurant near by where we enjoyed delicious bento boxes for dinner. The hosts gave us a substantial cooked brekfast (traditional, but western was offered too). And we were sent off with a large bento type lunch for our hike, which was equally substantial and delicious. The town was quiet and the we enjoyed a coastal walk in the evening.

A great base to discover Kii Tanabe!
It is conveniently located near the train station and the street was full of restaurants! The guest house was spacious which made our stay very comfortable. The breakfast and the lunchbox tasted so good and provided enough energy for our hiking.

Room was fine for 3 people, there's a separate kitchen and big lounge, good heating, everything in the bathroom worked well, no cooking equipment except a kettle however that's not a problem the surrounding area is full of great restaurants.
