Wonderful stay in a small village!

We had such an amazing stay at Noko Noko! The owner was fantastic and had the cutest cat! The dinner bento box was quite luxurious with many side dishes and the breakfast included both sweet and savory offerings. The place was clean, cozy and wonderfully curated with artwork from a local artist! The futon was very comfy, and we appreciated having an attached bathroom to ourselves. The transportation to and from the Takahara rest stop was also very helpful and easy! The owner provided us with a map of the village, and we enjoyed a short and lovely walk through the village.

Beautiful arty retreat!

Kumano Gallery Guest House Noko Noko was like a little dry, warm haven! We had just walked 5km in pouring rain so were delighted to arrive at this little accomodation. The place is well designed, warm, clean, cosy and comfortable. The artwork on all the walls is spectacular! Hand drawn images of fauna and flora from across the Kii Peninsular adorns the walls, all drawn by a local artist who is friends with the host. The food provided for dinner, breakfast and lunch the next day was delicious and plenty of it too! Also a nice touch is they have locally brewed beers and sake in the fridge that you can buy if you feel like one. Overall such a sweet place to stay!

Wonderful experience

Initially, I was a bit concerned that the location was some distance from the trail, we had an absolutely wonderful time. The location was beautiful, tranquil and gave us the time to rest and recover from the day's hike. Our host was fabulous and we had a nice chat. We learned some Japanese prior to our trip to Japan and it came in handy, although we didn't find the language barrier problematic, our host was warm and welcoming.

Memorable experience

I have no words to describe how welcoming and beautiful this experience was. It was the perfect start to my Kumano kodo journey. The meals were amazing and I could tell how much love was put into them, so thank you. The guesthouse is also nestled in the cutest valley and if you’re lucky, a cat might stop by to say hello. I hope to stay here again and thank you so much for the amazing hospitality.

Wonderful women, wonderful stay

My host’s friend picked me up and we had a great chat. She kindly offered to stop at a supermarket before arriving at the guesthouse. My host is another wonderful, generous woman who completed check in quickly and made me feel at home. The place itself is so well designed and had all I wanted and more, including beautiful artworks of flora and fauna, including a free postcard of this art of your choice. I ended up meeting the artist the next day at my next location on the trail and spent beautiful couple of hours with yet another amazing woman. Lat but not least, the food I have received for diner, breakfast and lunch was diverse, delicious and extremely well presented. Thank you, Noko Noko- I had such wonderful time.

Lovely stay

A lovely stay, beautiful space in a lovely area. Located further away from Takahara, but the lovely host picked us up and dropped us off in the morning at times that suited us so this wasn't an issue. Amazing food and very comfortable bed. 5/5!!

Do not be worried about the location, this was an amazing stay.

Though the need for the 15min drive, the host was very responsive and picked us up immediately upon contacting. Furthermore, the location was in a nice pleasant area and if you're willing to explore, there's actually a very serene shrine and river nearby too! Beyond that, this was an amazing stay! The room was very very pretty and the food was equally as pretty. The host was so kind to us as well and it felt like such a welcome.
