Review: Best stop along Kumano Kodo
Although this is probably the first stop for many of us, it's probably one of the best you'd get! The location, the room, the view, the owner, the food and the lovely pony, EVERYTHING is just fantastic!
I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that the food especially is worthy of a Michelin star! It's super duper delicious, and meticulously prepared by the awesome owner!
The views from the room is absolutely beautiful and sitting outside viewing the sky and beautiful scenery after walking the Kumano Kodo is so so relaxing!
Highly recommended!

Review: Keyaki with a View
Keyaki was difficult to find but once we arrived it was bliss. Beautiful family, beautiful room (with drip filter coffee pot), beautiful views and immediately alongside Kumano Kodo walking route. Keyaki was very peaceful. Only two guest rooms available so not party central which we appreciated. I would definitely recommend Keyaki.

Review: Absolutely wonderful
Keyaki is a wonderful place to stay. The host is friendly and gracious, the rooms are immaculate and comfortable, the food is delicious, and the location overlooking the village and mountains is just amazing. Everything about our experience there was perfect. The meals we had were some of the best in our visit to Japan- fresh, creative, healthy, and so delicious.

Review: Ideal place to stay in Takahara
This is the most idyllic place I have stayed in Japan! Beautiful mountain scenery could be seen from the private patio attached to my room, where I could quietly enjoy a cup of green tea while watching the sunset. My room with ensuite bathroom facilities was spacious and tastefully decorated. The fulsome and delicious dinner prepared by the host (mine was vegetarian) was also the best I have had on this trip! Watching the mountains while taking breakfast the next morning, with the host family’s adorable pony grazing right outside our dining area, was like being in a postcard. Despite being so far away from the busyness in the cities, the wi-fi in the house was excellent, so you have the best of both worlds!
