Review: A beautiful stay

We adored Keyaki and are so glad we stopped in Takahara for a night. Our host was very welcoming and so kind. We loved the meals (especially dinner) and the views at sunset and in the morning. Our room, with an ensuite and bath, was very spacious, clean and comfortable. We appreciated the small extras, like the ability to make coffee in our room. The pony even made an appearance at breakfast! We would have loved to stay longer and would recommend to everyone.

Everything was fantastic. We received excellent on the spot advice so we could realistically complete what we could in the short time we had. We arrived early (1.30pm) to our accommodation as we couldn't find any lunch. Our hosts looked after us and made lunch for us. We then checked in an hour earlier than anticipated, which was wonderfully generous of our hosts. Thank you.

Review: Perfect stay in Keyaki Guesthouse

The owner is a very good host and cook. We had a delicious diner in the evening.
The room is exceptionally beautiful and is very quiet.
The private terrace has a breathtaking view over the valley.
The guesthouse is located on the Kumano Kodo trail, so it could not be better.

Review: Magnificent mountain View

Friendly host. Tasty dinner and breakfast meals. Big and clean Japanese-style room with en-suite toilet and magnificent mountain view in the day and cloud view early in the morning. The accommodation was right next to the hiking route towards Chikatsuyu, which was where I was heading the next day. Lovely stay!

Review: Very nice host and questhouse, with great views and fantastic dinner cooked by host

This is a gem of a guesthouse. Great views as it's located high above the village. House is clean and welcoming and it's such a pleasure to just sit on the patio with a drink and admire the view and the host's pony.
Our host was Mahito-san and he is a great chef. The dinner we had here was better than the ones we had at restaurants !! My only small wish is that the guesthouse could check their guest dietary preferences as my wife was served beef as one of the items, which she doesn't eat.
We also ordered the lunch box for our hike to Chikatsuyu and I believe this was cooked and delivered by a third party, and frankly the quality was not good and was all vegetarian. If you are hiking to Chikatsuyu, there is a rest stop at about 80% of the trail, where you can get the more or less the same simple vegetarian stuff.

Location just by the side of Kumano Kodo. The room was spacious tidy and big. Good view of the sunset in the mountain village.
