Very nice stay with friendly host and great meal
We had a great time. The cottage was just beside the trail so perfect. The host was very friendly and prepared a nice meal.

Our hosts were absolutely fabulous, the room was tiny and the bed was uncomfortable. The only sink/basin for cleaning the teeth was outside (it was freezing)

Acceptable stay
Overall, the location of the bungalow and the welcoming owner made this stay good. Dinner was wonderful and he served us inside due to cold rain, and the breakfast snacks were totally fine to get us going for the day. But the bunkbeds are almost impossible to sleep on. In the end, we found it was more comfortable pulling the thin mats off the beds and just sleeping on the floor. If the owner could add some extra padding to the bed mats, this place would be a real winner but overall we can't really recommend it because it was near impossible to sleep.

Cozy Container Homestay with Anime Collection!
My host was very friendly and really fed me and my friend such amazingly great food. My only advice to hikers is to download your Google Maps as when you get to the end of the trail, your map might not update in Chikatsuyu until you get to Anaguchi's, plus it has a second name the locals know it as. It's truly at the other end of the road.

Exceptional stay near Chikatsuyu
Warm hospitality, a delicious and generously sized dinner, and great accommodation. Located ~10 minute walk past Chikatsuyu. Highly recommend.

中辺路歩き絶好の場所
楠山坂登り口分岐にあり、絶好の場所です。 又、 翌日の朝食を夕食時に提供頂けるので、早朝出発に最適です。 豪華な夕食は、滝尻からの徒歩の疲れを忘れさせる内容でした。 ペットボトルも潤沢に準備されているので、歩きにはありがたい接待でした。

Wonderful dinner
Basic accomodation with bunk beds yet met all our needs for walking Kumano Kodo. We were nicely surprised by the multiple course dinner which was wonderful! The stores nearby were closed by the time we arrived to the town and we didn’t have lunch items for the next day so we purchased a few additional breakfast items to get us through the next days hike.

Great stay at Anaguchi's Bungalow
We had a nice stay at Anaguchi's Bungalow, which consists of 2 compact containers next to the Housen Guesthouse. The room itself contains all necessary amenities, with one bunkbed to sleep in. Toilets are accessible outside so a short outside walk is required in order to get there. The food was amazing: we received a fantastic dinner and breakfast, perfectly taking our vegan and glutenfree prefences into account. Would definitely recommend!
