Un hogar en medio del Kumano
Si tienes pensado hacer el Kumano Kodo o en tu ruta por Japón pasas por Ukegawa tienes que alojarte en Bond. Para mi mujer y para mi este lugar ha sido una auténtica joya, cuando pensábamos que Japón no podía sorprendernos más vamos y la vida nos presenta a esta encantadora pareja. Tras dos días caminando el Kumano Kodo llegamos a este hogar donde íbamos a pasar dos noches para darnos una pausa para recuperar el cuerpo y continuar el camino donde la hospitalidad no pudo arroparnos más. Nos recibieron con un matcha latte exquisito, nos llevaron a un onsen local donde pudimos disfrutar de un onsen privado que pudimos disfrutar en pareja (llevamos algún tatuaje y en algunos Onsen no se permite la entrada), las cenas y los desayunos estaban exquisitos, saludables y variados, dignos de restaurante de estrella Michelín (llevábamos un mes viajando por Japón antes de llegar aquí y sin lugar a duda han sido nuestras mejores comidas) y por si fuera poco en la habitación nos habían dejado unas bandas para relajar los músculos y unos antifaces para descansar los ojos que nos vinieron fenomenal tras dos días de caminata con lluvia. Para más sorpresa al volver del Onsen habían puesto una máquina para secar nuestras zapatillas que se habían mojado de la lluvia durante la caminata, se puede ser más adorable y hospitalario? Los gestos de amabilidad de esta pareja nos dejaron sin palabras. La habitación es amplia, con muchísima luz, tiene 3 camas y un sofá comodísimo. Sin duda es una parada obligatoria, una de nuestras mejores paradas en Japón. Desde luego que el nombre de este lugar “Bond” qué significa Vínculo no puede ser más significativo ya que realmente crea esa conexión y sensación de hogar y familia. We had already spent a month travelling around Japan before arriving here, and without a doubt these were the best meals we had during our trip. As if that were not enough, in our room they had left muscle-relaxation bands and eye masks to help us rest, which were absolutely wonderful after two rainy days of hiking. To our further surprise, when we returned from the onsen, they had set up a machine to dry our shoes, which had become soaked during the walk in the rain. Could anyone be more thoughtful and hospitable? The kindness of this couple left us speechless. The room is spacious and filled with natural light, with three beds and an incredibly comfortable sofa. This is undoubtedly a must-stop destination and one of our favourite places we stayed in Japan. The name of this place, “Bond,” meaning connection, could not be more fitting, because it truly creates that feeling of connection, home, and family. Thank you for everything—you will forever remain in our hearts.

料理が美味しく、食べきれないほどで、とても満足しました。ホスピタリティが素晴らしかったので居心地が良く、とてもリラックスできました。お風呂は、こちらでは渡瀬温泉に案内してくれたので、思いがけなく温泉に入れたのも良かった。 ただ部屋が大きくて、泊まった日は外気温が低いせいもあり、部屋全体が寒く感じました。

Kindly Homestay with cute dog
Hosts were very kind and hospitable. It was only me but they cooked me up a feast for royalty! Host also took me to the local onsen baths (much needs after 11 hr hike)

Best Food and Service
We were really late in arriving in Hongu Taisha (long hike) and they were nice enough to pick us up as we have missed the bus. In all oour stay in Kumano Kodo, they have the best food! The husband is the chef and I must say we were completely spoilt by the food he provided for dinner and breakfast. Even his packed lunch box was the best we had during the trip. They also provided bento lunch boxes for other hotels in the area. Their locations is pretty good. About 3 km from Hongu Taisha (located in Ukegawa) but about 7 mins walk to the start of the trail. The couple speaks limited English so we used Google Translate a lot. But the food is the BEST.

The hosts were very friendly, took me to the Onsen daily, and prepared some pretty amazing food. I think I gained weight in Japan due to them :). Do get Google Map uploaded before you walk to Hongu as you might get lost walking form the end of the trail to Ukegawa. Extra bonus if you love dogs as they have a very cute Poodle.

Lovely stay at Bond
We stayed for 1 night at Bond, a guesthouse run by a lovely couple. Although English communication was very limited, the hosts made us feel very welcome in their house. The room is spacious and comfortable. The hosts drove us to the local onsen and we had some nice (Google Translate-supported) chats about our travels. But the best part of our stay was the food: after a long hiking day we received a delicious meal; and the next day an equally delicious breakfast and lunch box. Our vegan and glutenfree preferences were perfectly taken care of. Would definitely recommend!

The best part of our trip
Althouhh we were unable to do the trails we have planned for on the day we stayed at Bond, due to the weather conditions (Typhoon), the family cares for each and every detail to make it as smooth as possible. The house in itself is very comfy. The bed, the room is ultra spacious. The toilet is very convenient. The food is a separate chapter! They are incredibly prepared to welcome all kinds of restrictions in a very generous and delicioussss way. Everybody in the family is extremely friendly and receptive. It was the highlight of our trip, for sure!!!!

Mixed Review
The food was excellent and the hosts are very friendly and superb. The guest room did not have attached bathroom. However, if food is priority, highly recommended. Was not close to the trek trail.
