Fushiogami Pilgrim Stay

The Fushiogami Pilgrim Stay was clean and welcoming. The dinner & breakfast were delivered by the owner / proprietor of the stay, there were options to purchase beer, coffee, and ramen in the kitchen room for reasonable prices. The pilgrim stay was about half a kilometer off the road, with a nice walk through Fushiogami. Communication with the hosts was excellent. They even offered to pick us up if we were unable to complete the hike before dark - this was one of our longest days. The beds were a bit firm for my personal taste, but your mileage may vary.

Absolutely serene and unforgettable place

This is a minshuku with nobody living on site but has a caretaker who stays till 3pm or so, and someone who delivers the bento box dinner at 5. Breakfast is a bag of bread and butter, yogurt and juice left in the room. The place is close to Hingu shrine, around 4 km from there, so they don't offer a lunch box which is fine since you will be in Hongu at lunchtime. Highlight was walking in the vicinity of the house and running into the monkey tribe in the nearby woods. I recommend this place

Great stop before kumano kodo

This place was a great stop to ensure you arrived at Kumano Hongu Taisha in the morning and had enough time to enjoy the experience.

Very comfortable.

Handy for those on the Kumano Kudo trail, but some distance from the shops and attractions near the Kumano Hongu Taisha shrine, so you may need to catch a taxi at some point if you have heavy luggage. It's a small apartment with bedroom, shower room, toilet, open plan room with fridge/freezer and a cooker. Bento boxes delivered in the evening, and a simple breakfast provided.

This is the most impressive guesthouse during our 9-day stay along the Kumano Kodo. Our studio was newly remodeled. It has its own bathroom, kitchenette and washing machine, living and sleeping area. Very spacious. We had some difficulty finding it and happened to bump into the owner who was in his vehicle. He happily showed us the way. The bento dinner was sourced from local produce and was brought to us by a friendly lady.

Awesome new venue

The walk up to the house was amazing and very easy to find from the bus stop. Our guest came and met us after giving us the key code in advance. The accommodations was a beautiful one bedroom apartment, and we took advantage of having a washing machine. The refrigerator was stocked with beer and our breakfast for the next day. I liked the honor system options for beer and Ramen. A lovely woman brought us the most delicious meal down to our unit at the specified time. It was one of the best meals we had along our travels. we wish them the best of luck with this new venture because it is a beautiful location and a very comfortable stay. very easy walk to the Hongu Taisha the next day, you could stay here for a couple days.
