Ryokan style hotel with onsen

This facility is outdated. Bathrooms and toilets are shared and not clean. The room was terribly hot on arrival, luckily we could open the windows for some fresh air. The onsen is great for relaxing after hiking, but the futons were very thin.

Amazing food and easy shuttle bus service

Although the place was 30 min off route in a shuttle, it was a really easy process to get there. The driver saw us walking and stopped to ask us if we were possibly guests of the hotel and wanted to come on the shuttle instead of waiting for the next. The onsen and food was amazing as well! The guestroom was good, bur nothing out of the ordinary.

A Pocket of Paradise

While it was a brief stay, Takada Greenland was perhaps the most memorable of our Kumano trip. The wonderful bath facilities overlooking the refreshing river were a highlight, as was the food provided. I hope to return one day!

Comfortable rural onsen

We loved the traditional feel of this onsen. The rooms were Western-style and very comfortable. They backed up onto a burbling stream so we left the windows open all night to listen to that. The food was good and the staff are very polite. The rooms do not have individual showers/bath tubs, but do have individual toilets. This was not an issue for us, but be aware if you aren't comfortable using a shared bathing facility.
