There was no room for us in a traditional guesthouse so we got this room without meals. The place was clean and comfortable. A very friendly host showed up and offered us toast and tea/coffee for breakfast even though it said no meals, a pleasant surprise. Host speaks no English and we received no information in advance of our stay, but he came over minutes after our arrival and let us in. We got tickets for the onsen next door because there is no shower in the house, but ended up not using them and opted for the outdoor onsen in the river instead. Amazing! Overall, a great stop along the Kumano Kodo:)
