I enjoyed my stay here. The room was cozy and the owner provided lots of helpful information like bus schedules, recommended restaurants, pilgrimage stamp booklets and maps. The guesthouse is just a short walk from the bus station and many restaurants, tucked away on a quiet street. It was a great starting point to begin my hike from.

Practical stay ahead of Kumano Kodo

We stayed for 1 night at Tsukasa before we started our Kumano Kodo. The guesthouse is conveniently located at walking distance from the train station. It's mostly a self-service guesthouse with little contact with the owners, but all (online) communication fast and smooth. The rooms are fine; toilets and showers are shared with other guests. No meals are provided. It's not the place we'd stay for a longer period but perfectly fine as start of your Kumano trip.

The owner is very helpful and friendly, he's the only own who proactively sent us greeting message and info relating to the accommodation and the surrounding areas. The place is very clean despite is an old building. Price is fair too. Thanks.

Exactly what you need for a quick in an out of the train and bus stations. Well located. Easy, comfortable. Works.

Host is so helpful!

The location is good, the host is extra helpful and there are maps all over the walls, bus schedules and he is very familiar with the Nagahetchi Route to help answer all your questions you still have probably. Perfect for the price for your base start on the trek! And super fair price.

Good enough for a one night stay

The room was well-equipped with all that I need and the air-con worked well to keep the cold out. Make sure you check that the room windows are closed; I assumed they were but they were actually not because the curtains were fully drawn. There is no heating outside the room. Apart from that facilities are quite basic. There is a washing machine and dryer but payment per use is expected. I am very grateful for the Kumano Kodo pamphlets and stamp booklet provided at the entrance as I didn’t make a stop at the Tourist Info Centre as it was quite late when I arrived.
