Kumano Kodo Iseji Route, Tori-toge Pass & Maruyama Senmaida Course (with return taxi)
Kodo Walkers
Description
This route takes you first over a mountain pass, then down to an extraordinary hillside of over 1300 terraced rice fields. It is like stepping out of a time machine into the Japan of long ago. You will hear about Japanese rice culture and how it shaped both the landscape and history of Japan.
The guide will meet guests at the Senmaida Tori-toge Iriguchi bus stop. The tour proceeds to the Tori-toge trailhead (South), up to the Tori-toge Pass, and then on to Maruyama Senmaida rice terraces before returning to the bus stop.
Guests will then return to Kumanoshi Station via taxi.
Note: On rainy days, the route may be adjusted to avoid particularly slippery sections. The guide will provide guests with hemp rope; they will be shown how to and be expected to use this for traction.
Please note: this tour includes a taxi. The taxi can not be canceled last minute without canceling the entire tour.
※ Guests must make their own way to the Senmaida Tori-toge Iriguchi bus stop (see Access information).
