 Description

This walk is from the ridge top settlement of Takahara to the village of Chikatsuyu along the Nakahechi route of the Kumano Kodo.  From Chikatsuyu the trail follows the old highway to Tsugizakura-oji, the site of massive old-growth trees.  Near Tsugizakura-oji is the Nonaka-no-Shimizu spring, where crystal clear water can be drunk to quench your thirst after a full days walk.

Access
This walk is best for those staying at Takahara.
Luggage
If you have large baggage there is a luggage shuttle service available from the Takahara accommodations to the Nonaka accommodations.

Please note that luggage shuttle is only available for those who made reservations for accommodations via the Kumano Travel site. 10 days or more in advance is needed to book daily luggage shuttles.
Lunch
Lunch is not included in this tour. Please eat lunch before you arrive, or bring something simple with you to eat along the way.
After Tour
Most people choose to stay in the Nonaka area after their walk, but it is possible to take a bus back to Tanabe or continue onto the Hongu area.
