Good food and very nice onsen, a wonderful experience
The reception in this Minshuku was a bit strange, it took us a while to find somebody. The room was comfortable, although we did find the matrasses too thin. We know that this is typical for Japan and we had already some experience with this but this was the first time we did not find the bedding comfortable. The food was excellent. The nicest thing about this place was the private onsens in the building. Lying in an onsen on a balcony with a wonderful view was a dream.

The futon/bed was hard with minimal cushioning. Ugh.

Cheap and convenient onsen to stay
My room was very big and the views were amazing. I also enjoyed the onsen baths they have. The only problem is that the place it is a bit old and it need some maintenance.

Good stay in Kawayu Onsen
Rooms are clean and we have access to 3 separate onsen bath rooms. 2 were outdoors. Our meals were huge , which is wonderful to fuel up for Kohechi trek. Only downside was we had an encounter during the night as a centipede came into the sleeping room and bit one of my friend in 2 separate spots.

The only good thing: the view over the valley
The house and furnishings are in very poor condition, with worn-out armchairs and floors. Unfriendly reception. No soap. The onsen has a beautiful view, but is also poorly maintained. The food is fresh and the service is friendly. Overall, not recommended!
