A Solid Choice
Hotel Hanaya was a good choice to start our Kumano Kodo trek. It was about a 5 minute walk from the train station and close to a number of restaurants for dinner. The room was clean and basic, quiet, and the air conditioning worked well. The western breakfast included eggs, sausage, yogurt, fruit, and toast - a good foundation for the day’s hiking. The bento box was excellent.

Hotel Hanaya | Breakfast & Lunch Box
Functional and convenient for the start of the pilgrimage. Helpful staff who supported us to choose our bus the next morning and prepare luggage for transport. We went out for dinner and found a local tempura joint which was excellent. Breakfast and the provided lunch box were delicious and at a suitable time to catch the bus. Bed was comfortable and shower / toilet room was acceptable.
