Perfect Starting Point for the Kumano Kodo, but Overpriced
The location of Kodo-no-Mori Anchan is undoubtedly its strongest point. Situated right at Takijiri-oji, it is in an excellent and extremely convenient position, exactly at the starting point of the Kumano Kodo Nakahechi Route. For hikers beginning their journey, this is a major advantage, allowing you to start the trail directly from the accommodation without any additional transportation. However, considering the price, my expectations were considerably higher. At ¥20,200, this was the most expensive accommodation I stayed at during my entire Kumano Kodo journey, and unfortunately, I do not feel that the price reflects the quality of the accommodation, the services provided, or the overall experience. The food was good and certainly appreciated after a day of travelling, but it was not exceptional enough to justify such a high price. Overall, I found the facilities and services rather ordinary compared with what I expected at this price level. In summary, the location is excellent, but the value for money is disappointing. Kodo-no-Mori Anchan is undoubtedly a very practical choice because of its unique position at Takijiri-oji, especially for hikers starting the Kumano Kodo. However, given that it was the most expensive accommodation of my trip, I expected a noticeably higher standard of facilities, service, and dining experience. Excellent location, but unfortunately not the best value for money.

オフシーズンの宿泊
オフシーズンだったためか、ご主人お一人でされていて、夕食はちょっと残念。。もっと土地のものをいただけるのかと期待してたので。 翌日のお弁当は、暑いなか歩いている途中でいただくものだったので、塩っぱめの味付けが美味しくて、ありがたかった。 ご主人にはいろいろこの後の古道のことなど教えていただき、助かりました。 ありがとうございました。

Great location at the start of Kumano Kodo
We arrived here a day before we took off hiking the Kumano Kodo. It's a very practical place to start your walk. Across the street is the Kumano Kodo information centre where you can get the maps and stamp booklet. Kodo-no-Mori Anchan provides supper, breakfast & lunch upon request and luggage service, so that's very convenient.
