Hagi Inn Review
This was the most interesting stay of our Kumano Kodo trek. I think this place was way too expensive for the quality of stay we received. Hagi was an interesting host to interact with; and without the help of the other guests staying there who spoke a small amount of Japanese I am not sure we would have been able to communicate! The self-grilling BBQ dinner was an amazing experience, but Hagi kept driving away in his car, so we were never sure if we had correctly grilled everything. There was also no proper ventilation in the dining area, so a large cloud of smoke found its way directly into our sleeping room and into our clothes, bags, and bedding. The shower and bathroom area looked recently renovated, but everything else in the house seemed to be dusty, smokey, or about to fall apart. Overall, this was nothing like what I had expected, and it made for a crazy story to tell once we got home!

The place was clean but apart from everything. The reception and service was not the best, he was very quite and for some people would seem rude. I have seen similar reviews about him. Expensive.

Rooms and bathrooms were clean. The main room/dining area felt like we were in a garage. It was very messy and really felt like someone’s garage.

古民家ですが、洗面、トイレはリニューアルされており、快適です。巡礼路沿いの物干し場からの山の眺めに癒されます。周りが暗いので、美しい星空が見えます。宿のスタッフとの会話を楽しみながら、美味しいBBQをいただきました。

No one was available to greet us. The host appeared but he had poor communication in English and was not that helpful. Was not able to make lunch suggestions or make a bento for the following day. Generally not very hospitable. The inn entrance was quite cluttered.

Really nice.
The rooms and bathrooms are generous and clean. The dinner is a barbecue and generous. The downstairs is a little dusty from the wood stove. But everything else is clean and tidy.
