Simple and comfortable stay
Large room with traditional tatami. We're surprised to have fresh seafood for dinner which we enjoyed a lot. The accommodation provides washing and dryer for five hundred Yen which was very helpful for us.

Peaceful Traditional accommodation
We stayed here as a group of four adults. Being a little way past Chikatsuyu it gave a little head start for the next day walk. Our hostesses did not have any English but google translate took care of that. It is a traditional home on the low side of the road with a beautiful outlook to the forest. Very quiet and peaceful. The bathroom area is very large and modern. We were a little curious when our hostess lit the hibachi grill. Dinner was a feast. She served breakfast early so we could be on our way early for our long day of walking. We also took the offer of a lunch box for 8Y each. We had a wonderful stay at this accommodation.

A really peaceful stay in a traditional home. The hosts were really nice and patient despite the language barrier. We had a really nice barbeque dinner A bit too expensive for what you get

Authentic
We loved our warm welcome. We enjoyed sitting around the table talking whilst dinner was prepared, we were given plenty of snacks and lollies. Also mandarins from a neighbour next door. We were given a bbq for dinner with plenty of variety to eat. The place was clean and tidy and very authentic. The staircase was steep but we all just hung onto the railing on our way down. We knew about that on booking but wanted to enjoy a traditional home. We loved the location as it was just off the track.

Perfect stay
The guesthouse was located right on the trail, so there was no detour and extra steps haha. The food was amazing and very local and they sent us away the following morning with waves and big smiles :-)

Hagi Inn Review
This was the most interesting stay of our Kumano Kodo trek. I think this place was way too expensive for the quality of stay we received. Hagi was an interesting host to interact with; and without the help of the other guests staying there who spoke a small amount of Japanese I am not sure we would have been able to communicate! The self-grilling BBQ dinner was an amazing experience, but Hagi kept driving away in his car, so we were never sure if we had correctly grilled everything. There was also no proper ventilation in the dining area, so a large cloud of smoke found its way directly into our sleeping room and into our clothes, bags, and bedding. The shower and bathroom area looked recently renovated, but everything else in the house seemed to be dusty, smokey, or about to fall apart. Overall, this was nothing like what I had expected, and it made for a crazy story to tell once we got home!
